Let me once again congratulate our governor Soludo on awarding the dualization of Agulu/Nnewi/Okija road. Not only has he awarded the contract, but the contractor has started working on the project!. I must say that I am impressed! However, Ndigbo have a lot of work to do to catch up with the rest of the country in terms of basic infrastructure! The projects already delivered have changed the face of Awka but Onitsha is still looking quite ramshackle, especially the Niger bridge head entry point.................some palliative work has been done on Onitsha / Owerri road but the environment smacks of disorganization and bedlam! The environment commissioner is trying but he needs to be a very creative and innovative person to succeed in a place like Onitsha. Kudos again to Soludo!
The commissioner should take a visit to first Niger bridge and environs He has so much work to do there.
Broveens42: There's nothing substandard about the flyover, it is exactly as designed and intended to serve it's purpose. You are just used to the conventional way of wasting resources in the name of wide flyovers with big risk of retaining traffic and tension on the bridge, while there are not enough bypasses along same axis.
Visit Asian countries, you would understand how they build flyovers with more bypasses like you have from new Owerri to old Owerri.
Let's assume the position of the cathedral church was occupied by a main road leading to old Owerri, you could still construct 1 or 2 overlying bridges from world bank axis as seen in asian countries
Oga that section of the road need immediate attention
Wish Anambra state government will do something on that effect.
Just imagine a first time visitor to Onitsha seeing that?
First Niger bridge is a gateway to Anambra state especially Onitsha, it will be so unfortunate for a first time visitors to see how dilapidated the road looks immediately after the bridge
0bjpmb: Owerri is a very dirty slum and needs attention of Ozodimgba to fix the town. Most imo indigenes are now running to Onitsha to live and invest because it is the abroad of ndi imo state. Imo state is a failed state.
I don’t know what to say to you but hopefully you get well soon.
