oga , please read my comment very well. I did'nt said that he has negative plans but i said you can't compare tinubu and awolowo. And my reason is that while Tinubu is building a political empire for himself and family member, Awolowo gave the yorubas free education and other benefits.

oga, read the post well and you will see where Maj Gen Fajuyi's sister said that his aides knew about the coup but didnt tell fajuyi. The truth is that yoruba soldiers were betrayed by both the ibo and hausa soldiers in the two coups that occured in that year.

I strongly believe Fajuyi was well informed of the 1966's coup that Killed Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi, and subsequently Fajuyi himself. Just like the northerners betrayed Pa Awolowo, MKO Abiola, Gen Diya, Adenkunle and others, what stopped us from believing that Fajuyi was not betrayed as well? They got him to play along during the arrest, display altruism to project the image that he cared for Aguiyi but ultimately he was betrayed...murdered as well.

i've read the story but its biased one, even the o.p is a biased fellow. From my own understanding after reading different articles about the coup i think the January coup was carried out by those officers for their own selfish interest and their other major ghost plotters who were'nt mentioned. In summary yorubas are the ones who suffered for who they dont know like major Gen ademulegun and Major Gen fajuyi that were killed by the ibo and hausa soldiers respectively.

As loyal aides who knew that a coup is about to take place and their boss is not aware of such thing, why did'nt they tell him (fajuyi)?, or do you think that the hausa/fulani men in the army started planning the coup the day Maj Gen Ironsi went to visit Fajuyi? No i guess. It was already a planned coup already by the hausa/fulani men in the army and Fajuyi's house was the best place to strike because his aides has already sold him out to their brothers in the army.

From my own perspective as an history student, i think most of this coup plotters carried out coups because of their selfish desire and brainwashing the civilians or their tribal people into believing that the coups were carried inorder to cleanse Nigeria of bad eggs or make Nigeria a better place. So lets stop pointing accusing fingers on ourselves, be it yoruba, hausa or ibo.
