President Muhammadu Buhari has finally forwarded the list of ministerial nominees to Senate for confirmation. President Buhari releases 43 nominees as Akinwunwmi Ambode miss out while Babatunde Fashola in.
There are 43 nominees by the President.

On the list announced by Senate President Ahmed Lawan is former ministers Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi and Ogbonnaya Onu.

Also on the list are former Governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, George Akume of Benue and Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State.

Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo on Monday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he solicited for presidential intervention in the infrastructure deficiencies in his state.



Ihedioha, who spoke with State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting, said that he discussed the issue of agriculture and how the state could benefit from the Federal Government’s agricultural intervention programmes.

According to him, Imo needs the Federal Government’s support in all facets of the economy.

He said: “The Federal Government needs to support us in agriculture because the government we succeeded didn’t take advantage of government policies in agriculture.

Nigerian forward, Odion Ighalo, has announced his retirement following the Super Eagle’s third placed victory over Tunisia on night at Egypt 2019.

Odion, who is the highest goal scorer in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, informed coach Gernot Rohr of his decision before leaving to join his club in China immediately after the game.

Afenifere chieftain, Yinka Odumakin, says All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, is one of the promoters of the Ruga initiative which seeks to give free land to herdsmen for cattle grazing and other forms of animal husbandry.

Odumakin drew the attention of Nigerians to Tinubu’s speech at a national summit on conflict resolution organised by The Nation and TV Continental with the theme, ‘Towards an Enduring Peace.’

He noted that at the event which held at the Nigerian Air Force Centre, Abuja on October 8, 2018, Tinubu said, “The government must help herders gradually shift from their traditional nomadic existence to a more static lifestyle. We have to face the reality that modernity is making the nomadic way counterproductive and inefficient.

“Unoccupied, isolated land can quickly be turned into grazing areas in the affected states. In the long run, this will enable herders to better maintain their livestock and thus their own livelihood.”

Speaking with our correspondent during an interview on Monday, the Afenifere spokesman said it was for this reason that Tinubu could not join other prominent Yoruba leaders in rejecting the Ruga programme.

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) and the Coalition of the Northern Groups has again stirred the hornet’s nest, ordering Fulani herders to immediately vacate the Southern parts of the country and return to the north as their security in the south can no lager be guaranteed.
The two groups claimed that it was worrisome that Southern leaders have openly threatened war against the Fulani herders, claiming that their worry led to their call for the Fulani herdsmen to return home where their safety is assured.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday night after a meeting group the Coalition of Northern Groups demanded relocation of all the Fulanis back to the north, a position supported by Chairman of the Northern Elders forum, Prof Ango Abdullahi.

The former Presidential Adviser on Food Security said the demand was borne out of the realization that the lives of Fulani herders have been put at risk due to the actions and utterances of Southern Governors in recent days.

The Super Eagles coach (Gernot Rohr) has announced his 23-man squad as the final team list for the 2019 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Semi Ajayi have been axed from Nigeria’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after coach Gernot Rohr released his final 23-man list on Sunday.


The two players were unused substitutes on Saturday as Zimbabwe held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

Nigeria are scheduled to travel to the Egyptian city of Ismailia later today where they will continue their preparations for the Afcon before playing Senegal in another friendly contest at the Ismailia Stadium on June 16.
