Bboss7: Guys, I want to explain something that has been bothering me, and I need everyone to understand the situation before making any judgment.
A woman called me some months ago and told me that she has an 11-year-old daughter for me. The confusing part is that we had unprotected sex in the past, but at that time she was already in a serious relationship, and she clearly told me that the child was not mine.
Now, after all these years, she has suddenly come back and is saying that I am the biological father of the child. This has honestly come as a shock to me because it is completely different from what she told me back then.
I’m not trying to run away from responsibility or deny anything. I just believe that something this serious should be confirmed properly before anyone concludes that I am the father. I’m willing to find out the truth through a proper DNA test, because I don’t have money for DNA tests right now and I don’t like the situation the daughter is in The two of you should save up for DNA test |
Romance › Re: Dear Single Mothers, Let’s Talk About Marriage Again. by TutorTobi: 6:29pm On Sep 12 |
IyaTola: Yes, I see the point you’re making.
You’re talking about a 34-year-old woman with three children, each having a different father—the first child is 17, the second is 11, and the last is 5. She describes herself as a “lover girl” and says she wants a serious relationship and eventually marriage.
Your argument is that some Nigerian men may reject her automatically because of her history, with comments like “If you already have three children for three different men, I can’t marry you.” Yet, you’re questioning whether it is fair to use one person’s experience—or the behaviour of a minority of women—to judge all single mothers.
I also understand the point about priorities in Nigerian relationships: rather than simply judging a woman by the number of children she has or the number of fathers involved, a man considering marriage should look at her character, emotional maturity, accountability, relationship history, parenting, values, financial responsibility, and what she has learned from her past.
At the same time, there is another side: a man is also entitled to decide that raising or accepting responsibility for three children from three previous relationships is not the family structure he wants. That preference doesn't automatically make him wicked or judgmental.
The strongest version of your argument, therefore, isn't “men must marry women with three children.” It's: Don't turn one person's complicated relationship history into a universal verdict on every single mother. Assess the individual before you.
And yes—the “one in a hundred” being used to judge the other 99 is the heart of what you're saying. Ai text |
Romance › Re: Dear Single Mothers, Let’s Talk About Marriage Again. by TutorTobi: 6:28pm On Sep 12 |
lavylilly: DEAR SINGLE MOTHERS, LET’S TALK ABOUT MARRIAGE AGAIN.
There is a conversation we need to have honestly.
Imagine a 34-year-old woman with three children. Her first child is 17, the second is 11, and the last is 5. Unfortunately, the three children have different fathers.
She now says, “I am a lover girl. I want a serious relationship. I want to settle down and get married.”
Immediately, some people will say:
“Three children for three different men? Forget marriage.”
Some men have even made it a personal rule:
“Once a woman has three children for different men, I can never marry her.”
But should we really judge every woman based on the worst examples we have seen?
A woman having three children from three different relationships tells us something about her past. It doesn't automatically tell us everything about who she is today.
At the same time, let's be honest with ourselves.
A woman who has children from different fathers must be prepared to answer serious questions about her past. What happened in those relationships? What choices did she make? What has she learned? Has she taken responsibility for her decisions? Is she emotionally stable? What kind of relationship does she want now?
And a man considering her for marriage has every right to ask those questions.
He also has every right to say, “This isn't the family situation I want.”
That's his choice.
But there is a difference between saying “I don't want this situation” and saying “No woman in this situation deserves marriage.”
Those are two completely different things.
SINGLE MOMS, PLEASE DON'T LOSE YOURSELF TRYING TO PROVE SOMETHING.
If you genuinely want marriage, don't allow desperation to make you accept any man simply because he is willing to date you.
You don't need to convince every man that you're marriage material.
You need to become the kind of woman who is emotionally mature, responsible, self-aware and ready for a healthy partnership.
Your children also matter.
The man you choose isn't just becoming your boyfriend or husband. He is potentially becoming part of your children's lives. Choose carefully.
And please, don't enter another relationship thinking:
“At least this one will finally marry me.”
That mindset can make you ignore red flags just because you are afraid of starting over.
AND TO THE MEN...
You are allowed to have standards.
You are allowed to say you don't want to marry a woman with children from previous relationships.
But if you meet a single mother, judge the woman in front of you, not every single mother you've heard stories about.
There are responsible single mothers.
There are irresponsible single mothers.
There are women who made terrible relationship choices and genuinely changed.
There are also women who continue making the same mistakes.
Just like there are responsible men, irresponsible men, faithful men, unfaithful men, mature men and immature men.
One bad example should not become the standard for everybody.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, SINGLE MOMS...
Don't let society convince you that because you have children, you must settle for the first man who shows interest.
You still deserve respect.
You still deserve companionship.
You still deserve a healthy relationship.
But remember:
Wanting marriage is not enough. You must also be ready for a healthy marriage.
And sometimes, the most important relationship you need to fix first is the relationship you have with yourself.
Your past may explain you.
It does not have to permanently define you. Do you have a blood brother that is yet to marry, Tell him to follow this jargons you preach,he should marry a single mother with three kids of different husband Nonsense |

imsoftcash: "Is 35 too old to become a mother? Yesterday, a lady asked this question. According to her, most men are turning her down, telling her she is too old to become a mother. She needs a profound answer and will be reading the comments.
According to her, she had not given birth before, but men are a bit staying away from her due to her age when it comes to marriage, and she is beginning to give up on marriage and the possibilities of becoming a mother. At 35, she is not late. She is not finished. She is not too old. She still has every right to hope, love, build a family, and pursue motherhood. The right person for her won’t make her feel like her age is a punishment. But she shouldn't keep her egg in One basket any longer, time is going before time will be totally gone |

babatee1985: Hello house, I am a father of three children and I mistakenly got my wife pregnant again which I don't want and I've told her to let get rid of it because the pregnancy is just two weeks old and it is yet to form but she insisted that she's going to born it.
I told her to reason with me because my salary is just 150k monthly while she teaches in a school. I told her the financial burden will be too much on us but she said no. She said God will provide for us to take care of our children but I'm working with the reality of things and not something that is not certain.
I've been sleeping in my place of work for days now because I'm not happy at all. I'm just confused and I don't know what to do.
Any advice pls? So sorry to hear this, don't you guys do any preventive measure to avoid this pregnancy |

benny4wax: My fellow nairalanders, I often see people bring their problems here in the hope of getting tips and advice from brilliant men and women in this forum, the good part of it is that we never respond with silence, we all treat the problem as if it was ours by giving out advice and encouragement.
