221(g) means that the case is pending because something is missing -- from what you've written, it's likely the affidavit of support from a joint sponsor. There must have been something in your documents that showed that you don't meet the threshold to sponsor your fiance.

I submitted I-864 from my dad who makes over the 125% poverty guidelines for 3 people ( actually he earns enough to sponsor even 7 people and he has maintained this job for 11 yrs so it is stable). We included tax transcript from 2012- 2014 and earning statements for 2012- 2014 in addition to a photocopy of his naturalization certificate. So where did we go wrong?
The 221(g) also said they will be returning our case to USCIS and be allowed to expire.
Is there a way out of this? I am thinking of seeking the help of my congressman. I know you can't tell me what to do but is this a losing battle?
I am trying to understand this because even if we try the spousal visa, I don't expect much changes in my income and that of the co sponsor so we might come back to this same issue again.

K-1 Denial based on ineligibility "under Section 221(g) of Immigration. This section prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone whose application does not comply with the INA or regulations issued pursuant thereto."

I am the US fiance and my fiance is based in Ghana. According to him he answered all the questions right. The CO asked for a joint sponsor. My fiance presented I-864 with last fours tax transcripts and wages summary obtained from IRS.
So, could you help me understand how my fiance is deemed to be ineligible after presenting the requested documents?
