can u be for once objective and reply to posts without resulting into insults and abuses. and i said that because i will build my own house one day and those are my emotions. if u had read the objectives of my post and not weather i am land lord or tenant u would have been smarter with your comments |
i forgot to add that those that say they collect one month rent in europe, south africa and the US should research their system and what makes it possible for them to do that . lemme give u a quick analysis in Nigeria to buy a house 30m down payment 0 (if u r lucky u pay line 18m) interst rate 22% term 10yrs rent 1m/yr in other countries to buy a house 30m down payment 1m interst rate 5% term 30yrs rent 500$/month are the circumstances the same, dont forget to also consider stability of blding material, low govt fees to register titles, omo oniles, police, etc that does not come up in these countries u are suggesting that we follow. |
i am a tenant in lagos and i am very disappointed at the way people are thinking about this tenancy bill, as a tenant, i am supposed to be happy about the tenancy bill but the reverse is the case, picture this scenerio pay for a year before tenancy law , 200k per year after law , 100k for 3months(amounting to 400k per year) now while u are all rejoicing, u failed to consider the housing deficit in lagos and the notion that the lagos state government may be attacking the people who are supposed to be helping to reduce the deficit. after dealing with omo onile, area boys, local government staff, lagos state governments various levies, high cost of building materials, the police and a host of other things, without a single empathy from the state government. after working for 30yrs to build a house, the land lord collects market rent and then he is called greedy and a host of other names. why r u not calling the lagos state govt thieves for building houses and selling to their cronies and at very exorbitant prices. lets not deceive ourselves, this law will only increase what u pay anaually. while i think we should not be paying for more than a year as rent, we must also be logical and think about the economics. is it really sensible for u as a tenant to have to worry every three months for rent when there will be school fees, utility bills etc to deal with, will it not pay u to pay a year in advance and work out how to pay other bills. and u dont have to stay in ikoyi or opebi, u can stay in other areas that ur salary can easily accomodate. and if u say its three months no wahala, just know that after i have suffered all the above, i will not smile at any tenant and rub his back, i will collect my money in full as it pleases me, for three months that is, pls review this thing ppls. ur opinion would be highly appreciated |
