*UBEMSA ALERT: Detention of Omatseye Matthew Utieyinoritseseola* The University of Benin Medical Student Association (UBEMSA) wishes to bring to public attention the case of our colleague, Omatseye Matthew Utieyinoritseseola, MED240. Matthew was the top JAMB student in Delta State 2024 and the first in JAMB history to score 100 in a subject , as confirmed by the JAMB Registrar. He currently holds a 4.98 CGPA and serves as UBEMSA’s best 10 in football. Since May 14, 2026, we noticed his absence after the medical student break. Investigation revealed he was arrested and has spent 2 months 2 weeks at Delta State CID and 3 weeks 4 days at Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Centre. This directly threatens his ability to sit for the MBC test on JUNE 5, 2026. We have informed the Dean of Medicine and Surgery, UNIBEN, and the UBEMSA President. We call on the University Management, relevant authorities, and the public to ensure Matthew’s academic rights are protected while due process is followed. #JusticeForMatthew #UBEMSA #UNIBEN *Signed* The Strong-will Executives, UBEMSA --- |
