Pls don't let us stray away from the topic of discussion here.

Some people have raised some points I will highlight here

1) REGULATION: There is no recognised body regulating these 'fake' auxiliary nurse. So just anyone can go to a clinic/hospital to get trained to become one.

2) TRAINING: Since there is no regulating body, there is no organised system to equip them with the required training they need to function well. this training is left in the hands of those who may not have the capacity to train them.

3) THE JOB SPECIFICATION OR WHAT THEY ARE TRAINED TO DO: I have read here where someone called them nursing assistants or healthcare assistants. here is the exact sentence "trained to check vital signs, help patients with activities of daily living, do ECG, some are trained to do venepunctureand some are trainedbtodo simple dressings.They do not give medications, IVs or carry out invasive procedures." AND THIS "Auxiliary nurses are simply there to assist nurses in caring for the patients helping mainly with hygiene needs, personal care, feeding, checking vital signs and so on. They are not allowed to administer any form of treatment to patients."

My question is this: can they really do all these without systemic training?

And since there is no recognised body to regulate and there is no system in place for training, point No 3 is invalid. It will only breed quackery and its ills.

MY OPINION:

We as a nation should not encourage quackery. Anyone who is not trained in a field should not be functioning in that field, including the very delicate healthcare sector.

Imagine a phone/laptop repairer calling himself/herself 'engineer'.

I will advise you to ignore it but if you are in dire need of a job you can give it a try.

kudos dicefrost, this is so rampant in the rural areas especially in private clinics.

you will be surprised to know that some even train as assistant doctors! I don't really know the fake names they are called but I guess this training runs for a year or two and they graduate as 'assistant doctors' able to diagnose and treat patients.

pls oh does anyone have an idea on how to link ones BVN account from one account to another...I did my BVN registration with GTBank, and I also use Fidelity but I was told one bank BVN can cover my other accounts if I link them, but right now am stranded cos i needed to withdraw from ATM with my Fidelity bank ATM but the machine is saying invalid transaction.

now that bvn registration has closed, there is nothing much you can do. Just forget about that account in Fidelity Bank.
But peradventure it will be extended, take your bvn from GTB to Fidelity so they can link it together

The reason I'm not using it is that there is no 3G network in my temporary base... But at home, Glo don do me shege.. Even with 3G,the thing slow die, and that's the complaints of most folks I know using it...
