All these disguising Obidients seem to believe that Atiku, a regular presidential candidate, would rebuild a political party and then hand it over to Obi, when he is no longer 68 or 70 years old that we will say he has time. Atiku doesn’t have the time anymore. That assumption ignores political reality.
Baba has spent years contesting and positioning himself for the presidency, and this is his last shot. It’s unrealistic to expect him to step aside for Obi. Politics is driven by ambition, not wishful thinking.
When Atiku moved to the ADC, even the least politically aware people knew he would be the party’s presidential candidate. I wonder why Obi and his supporters are acting as if Atiku promised Obi the ticket of the ADC for him to join the party.

Which party did Atiku rebuild? He’s built nothing. A man who cannot respect agreement cannot NEVER have my vote. He should wait for when it’s the turn of the North then he can contest- not contesting when it’s another region’s turn all the time. This is no longer greed but entitlement. Since the return of Nigeria to democracy virtually all INEC chairs have come from the academia. All of them adorned with the highest academic degrees thus, were seen as elites within and outside the academic hegemony. These people are supposedly the custodians of knowledge yet, all have FAILED repeatedly in delivering a simple task “credible elections”.

Ironically, year to year the academic umbrella bodies ASUU, CONUA pressure the government on funding, benefits and implementation of a number of agreements signed in the past . The back and forth have been overwhelming while the students suffer. Surprisingly, these same bodies have always kept mum when INEC does its electoral abracadabras and the credibility of their members is challenged. ASUU and CONUA have roles to play in ensuring that Nigeria has a free and fair election.

Today, the credibility of the present INEC Chair has been challenged and we have seen plausible evidence that the Chair is grossly partisan. Will ASUU, CONUA and the plethora of academic bodies speak up or remain mute?

Lastly, patterns have shown that regardless of where the INEC chair may come from,whether the academia or judiciary, you DO NOT need an elite degree to deliver credible elections in Nigeria . What is primarily needed is one of the most invaluable virtues - INTEGRITY (and a good experience and exposure).
