Nonso23: 1984 - Unread.
Animal Farm - I gave the song 'Beasts of England' a tune when i read the book.
Count of Monte Cristo - Unread.
Oddysey - Read (hope it's the same oddysey i know)
Tale of Two cities - Read
Oliver Twist - Read So these are classics? *Facepalm*.
Thanks Lol yeah they're classics. Add The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn(Mark Twain) Great Expectations (Charles Dickens again) Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen) To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Ler) .....to your list then. I'm hoping to find Les Miserables soon. Saw the movie (very lengthy) and want the book now more than ever. Another classic btw. |

pickabeau1: Nice books.. i have not read A Tale of Two Cities and 1984 though ive watched 1984 Set the tune for our Hunger Games and Divergence movies The first is by Charles Dickens. 1984, yeah it did. Orwell was thinking about the soviet union when that book was written, though it wasn't published the same year and garnered a lot of criticisms (for obvious reasons). This writer sure loves satires. |

Nonso23: chai! I no sabi these ones o, save for 'Pride and Prejudice' of which i have a very faint recollection of the plot. The rest are new to me. I'll get the others. This xmas holiday will be very short for me. Ok! While at it also get: 1984 Animal Farm The Count Of Monte Cristo The Odyssey A Tale Of Two Cities Oliver Twist |

Nonso23: Honestly, It's frustrating but when you've searched the ends of the earth for a particular novel even if it is written on papyrus you'll settle. I wasn't a fan of e-books until it dawned on me that i had very few options in that regard. I'm slower and i do get dry eyes once in a while but i'm getting used to them.
I only read classic novels on recommendation. I always think it'll have something to do with princes and knights and damsels in distress. Sentimental much. Pride and Prejudice isn't about knights and damsels in distress lol, nor is Jane Eyre and the Great Gatsby |

Nonso23: In other words, there are two authors: The original one and the reader. Hmmm.
I did the same too with no success until a friend borrowed an aged copy from a public library. Super brown, super used and super fragile. I came across a 'free' pdf copy much later. I don't know if i still have it. Lmao! I picked one such book from a roadside vendor. Never been able to wrap my head around ebooks. Takes a lot my more to read and gives me a nasty headache. Do you ever go back to reading classic novels? |

Nonso23: 3 people recommending short stories now. I may try out Amanda's 'the thing around your neck' just to be sure i'm not missing out on anything but i really doubt i'll be converted. I love the heightened anticipation, suspense and adrenaline surge a few hundred pages can create too much. Btw, you read 'The Famished Road' by Ben Okri? Yeah, short stories leave you hanging. At least you get to fill the blanks yourself.....in a very frustrating way. Nope. I have looked for that book, don't know why my bookshop guy doesn't have it still. |

Silkmoth33: U mean D narrator voice "kambilla's voice"? It was of a frightened little girl oh! I felt for her! I don't recall any amiable event that happened in the book sha. No. Chimamanda's voice. She's the one who infuses her characters with personalities of her choice, so it's basically her voice still. I could a read a book by her and recognise it as one of hers without seeing her signature. That's what a voice does. |

Nonso23: I know certain friends of mine that read like robots o. They read and tell you the story. No life at all. Now that you mentioned it, I just realized I type my posts in my voice and read yours in 'your' voice. Ah see not weird at all. You should try reading short stories though. Chimamanda's The Thing Around Your Neck is so good. A friend got me that to encourage me to try my hand at short stories. Not a bad investment |

Nonso23: I guess I'm not weird after all. I ascribe voices to characters in books and even tunes to songs I don't know. Its very hard to not like Chimamanda. She's a gifted writer. Pity it seems she's all for the money now. Not weird at all. Every writer has a voice, it just takes a while to find it. As for ascribing voices to characters...lol how else are we supposed to humanize them of we don't give them real voices in our head? I even have a voice for you |

How is planks done pls? See images below. The first is the traditional plank. The second if you want to take it a notch further and shift the muscles involved. In the third picture the colored areas are the muscles affected in the traditional plank. As opposed keeping your toes on the floor, you can place your feet against a wall.

WoodcrestMayor: Itz a 2week plan. The aim is to get you in optimal shape after which u can maintain yourself. You shld also note that even tho carbs and fat av been greatly reduced,RDA goal is wat u shld watch.
Wheat bread has fibre and carb, white bread has both too but in diff quantities.Hypothetically speaking,2 slices of white bread would give u more carb dan wat 5 slices of wheat bread would give. A typical naija food is high in carb and fat;the latter cos of palm oil.I tink dat explains why they cut down significantly on both.
I'm not an expert;just giving u d little I knw. The plan really worked for her tho Ok. Thanks |
