OLASODE2K:
The truth is that the north has utilised excellently their very long yrs of ruling nigeria to their own selfish advantage. Let me start from the army which has 4 divisions. We have one mechanised infantry in ibadan, another one infantry division in kaduna, one composite airborne and marine in the east, one armoured division in jos. They now positioned the Central Army Depot in kaduna. All these are not by mistake. All the army heavy weapons are placed in this kaduna army depot. It is a known fact only infantry cant stand any stand tanks anyday. Hence all these ackward positioning of forces. The airforce has only their logistical group in southwest based in ikeja, none in the east, but the airweapons training sch in kano and most importantly, the tactical fighter squadron in makurdi, benue state. U think all these were done out of ignorance or illiteracy? If the their have access to the sea, i can swear the naval headquarters would have u been located in sokoto. But despite all the naval commands and ships being located in the south, they still sited the naval headquarters in abuja. Can u now see that we are doomed as far as we southerners are concerned? When obj was the president, he saw the anomaly and created upgraded the lagos garrison command to a full fledged division strenght. Immediately yar adua entered, one the first things he did was to revert it back to the brigade sized strength obj met it. A division usually has 3 brigades under it. And i pity my fellow southerners who ignorantly sees the northerners as foolish ignoramuses.
First of all, there are FIVE army divisions, with the 81st Division based in Lagos (its AOR). Also, you forgot to mention that these mechanized divisions in the south, including the 82nd Composite division, also have armored units attached to them, you know with their Centurion MK-3 tanks, along with APCs. And yes, infantry units can defeat armoured units if armed with the necessary weapons (ATGMs, etc) and tactics.

Regarding the airforce, yes Lagos has a Logistics Command. But you forgot to mention the Transport base in Ilorin where the G-333s are based, or Benin were you have the ATR-42 Maritime Recon aircrafts. Keep in mind that the NAF Helicopter training school is also based in Enugu with the new AW-109 LUH helicopters based there  (in the past, during the military rule, some of the MIGs were actually based here), with the deadly Mi-35s helos based at the 98th Special Operations Base in Port Harcourt. And have you forgotten that the MB-339AN attack planes were stationed in Calabar, and the NAF intends to move some of the Alpha Jets to PH? By the way, the weapons training school is in Kianji, Niger State, not Kano. It's only the basic and advance flight training school that's based in the later. One more thing, most flight training schools and weapon schools around the world tend to be based in regions with low rainfalls, and in some cases areas with large airspaces, and low air traffic. Maybe NAF located these schools there for these reasons.

Will you guys give it a rest? What's the big deal? It's not as if the NAF crew crashed the plane. If any of you actually read the full article, you'll know that the crew followed all necessary protocols and acted professionally. Oh, one more thing, machines do FAIL.
