A public affairs analyst, Durojaiye Ogunsanya has waded into the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s certificate from the Chicago State University, United States of America.

MEDIA TALK AFRICA reports President Tinubu’s credentials have been the subject of controversy, especially among members of the opposition parties who are looking for loopholes to get the President out of office.

A section of Nigerians have been wondering why the former Governor of Lagos State cannot point to anyone as his classmate while in the institution.

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar had also approached a court in the US, seeking access to the credentials of Tinubu at the Chicago University.

However, according to a video clip making the rounds on social media, Ogunsanya during an interview with TVC News, affirmed that the President and himself graduated the same year from the University in 1979.

He said, “We met in the school, Chicago State University and we were in the same department, College of Accounting Business and Administrative with a major in Accounting and we were in the same class together and we graduated.

“He did attend the University and he graduated in 1979 in the same year as I did. I am here to testify that he did attend University and he was a good student.

“I’m here with my Diploma, for the world to see. We graduated together from the university, I just want to set the record straight not for any gain or favour”.

Politics / Bandits Release 56 Remaining Kidnapped Persons In Niger Community After 6 Months by UncleSnr(m): 6:11pm On Aug 24, 2023
Bandits have finally released the remaining 56 kidnapped victims from Kafin Koro and Kwagana wards in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State. The victims had spent a harrowing 6 months in captivity.

Media Talk Africa reported that on March 14, the terrorists had brazenly stormed Kaffin-Koro and the surrounding communities, abducting over 60 residents, mostly farmers who were simply going about their daily routines.

Initially, some of the victims were set free after their desperate families succumbed to the demands of the merciless criminals and paid hefty ransoms.

In June, a distressing video was released by the heartless gunmen, threatening to end the lives of these innocent victims if their terrified families failed to meet their ransom demands.

Confirming the long-awaited release, Sabastine Maikarfi, the coordinator of the Kaffin-Koro Axis Concerned Youth, expressed relief and gratitude as he revealed that the victims were finally released on August 6.

According to Maikarfi, the release of the victims was secured through the payment of a significant ransom, further emphasizing the urgent need for authorities to address the issue of banditry in Niger State.

Rev. Fr Bahago Dauda Musa, the coordinator of the Justice, Development and Peace Commission at the Catholic Diocese of Minna, also confirmed the safe release of the victims. Musa highlighted the urgent need for mental health support for the traumatized abductees, as they struggle to recover from their agonizing ordeal.

"My interactions with the victims of banditry in Niger State have been nothing short of traumatic," Musa lamented. "These individuals have endured unimaginable horrors. Many of them were either kidnapped or had loved ones kidnapped."

He went on to express deep concern for the mental well-being of the victims, stating that a significant number of them are now grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which severely impacts their mental health.

Musa earnestly appealed to the state government and mental health experts to extend assistance to the abductees, ensuring they receive the necessary support needed to overcome the profound trauma they have endured in the aftermath of their abduction.

Politics / FG Gives Go-ahead For Development Of Ecrvs Platform For Birth & Death Reg by UncleSnr(m): 9:28am On May 18, 2023
In a bid to improve national data management, the Federal Government has authorized the development of a modern Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System (eCRVS) for electronically storing records of births and deaths. This is expected to replace the traditional manual registration system, which has suffered from low coverage, inadequate data, and other inefficiencies.

The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) announced the approval of the eCRVS platform, which is being funded with N5.3 billion from Messrs Banksforte Technologies, while the National Population Commission will serve as the project grantor. The platform will enable efficient capturing and verification of births and deaths in the country, with attestation and verification certificates available to end-users.

Additionally, the ICRC reported that the federal government has also approved the establishment of an Aviation Leasing Company (ALC) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement. The goal is to boost private sector involvement in infrastructure development and enhance the country’s economic growth.

The project is expected to alleviate the challenges of costly lease rates, high insurance premiums, and leasing aircraft and engines to Nigerian airlines. The approval for the provision of leasing opportunities to both domestic and international carriers is expected to increase the size of their fleet, mitigate the problems of aircraft leasing, and employ more locals.

The ICRC emphasized that the eCRVS and ALC projects have been approved following the issuance of Full Business Case (FBC) compliance certificates by the regulatory commission, which is responsible for regulating PPPs. The ALC project will be executed by Messrs AJW Consortium as the concessionaire.

The ALC project will commence by leasing eight aircraft in its first year of operation before increasing to 50 leased aircraft by the seventh year and maintaining a steady 70 leased aircraft by 2034. Once the portfolio exceeds 50 leased aircraft, the ALC will begin purchasing aircraft rather than leasing them. The project was approved with the Federal Ministry of Aviation as the grantor.

With these two projects, the government is employing a Public-Private Partnership model to drive infrastructure projects that are critical for national development. The introduction of the eCRVS and ALC are expected to improve efficiency, stimulate growth and development, and provide alternative options while creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.

Business / Fire Incident At Zenith Bank’s Primary Data Centre Is Causing A Network Downtime by UncleSnr(m): 5:24pm On May 03, 2023

Zenith Bank, Nigeria’s biggest bank by market capitalisation, is experiencing a total infrastructure downtime after a fire at the company’s primary data centre. The downtime affects Zenith Bank’s services, leaving millions of customers in the lurch. At one of the bank’s branches, a security official could be heard telling a customer that the network was down. The security official did not provide further information.

Multiple sources told TechCabal that the downtime began around 7 a.m. this morning. One source confirmed that the incident started after a backup power system caught fire, triggering a power cut to the data centre. According to sources with knowledge of the matter, the bank is now attempting to switch to its disaster recovery infrastructure to get all services up and running. It is standard practice for big organisations to have disaster recovery protocols, but Zenith could not switch to its recovery infrastructure at the time of this report.

One source told TechCabal that the delay in switching to its disaster recovery is connected to the fact that not all banking services were running in an active-active deployment. It means that the services running active standby now have to be switched manually. The source told TechCabal that, despite the delays, the bank expects to have its infrastructure up and running before the end of the day.

TechCabal sent emails to Zenith Bank’s corporate communications department and didn’t get a response at the time of this report. A member of the communications team who spoke to TechCabal on the phone said that she could neither confirm nor deny the incident. The bank has also not shared any information with customers on social media channels or acknowledged that it is experiencing downtime.

Celebrities / You Were Not Well Trained By Your Mother – Actress Victoria Inyama To Whitemoney by UncleSnr(m): 7:00pm On Mar 26, 2023

Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama has stated that former the mother of Big Brother Naija reality show winner and cook Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly called Whitemoney, didn’t train him well.

The actress continued to berate Whitemoney and his mom after he laid curses on her over her comment on his post.

Recall that Whitemoney had attracted the outrage of the actress after he claimed that no woman is above a man’s league as long as the man is wealthy.

Commenting on his post, Victoria said he is projecting his disgust for his mother by generalising all women as his mother.

Reacting to Inyama in a viral video on social media, Whitemoney rained insults on Inyama, saying that she had crossed the line by involving his mother.

In a video trending on social media, the actress, during a live session with media personality, Daddy Freeze on Instagram, insisted on what she had said earlier and wasn’t sorry for dragging Whitemoney’s mother into it.

She said: ”When you raise somebody in a respectable way, money or no money, the person’s true character remains the person’s true character. So, which is why I said if it’s all women, ok then including your mother and your sisters because it’s not fair on the woman that works hard.

”That same reason that makes me like him because he can cook is that same reason that I would say you were not well trained by that woman, and you are projecting hatred for your mother, and that’s why you are saying all women.”

Politics / Nnamdi Kanu’s Prophecy On Oil In North Fulfilled – IPOB by UncleSnr(m): 6:18pm On Nov 25, 2022
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has disclosed that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s prophecy of oil discovery in the northern part of Nigeria has been actualized.

IPOB said the Nigerian government should sanction the actualization of Biafra with the discovery of oil in the North.

During the week, Buhari had flagged off the commercial production of crude oil and gas from the $3bn Kolmani Integrated Development Project.

Located along the fields of Gombe and Bauchi, the Kolmani project, with Oil Prospecting Licence 809 and 810, lies in the Gongola Basin of the Upper Benue Trough, straddling the two northern states.

The field, according to its promoters, will produce about 50,000 barrels of crude oil per day and holds over one billion barrels of crude oil reserves, shooting up Nigeria’s oil reserves to over 38 billion barrels.

Reacting to the development, IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, claimed that revenue from the oil field would be used to propagate jihadist agenda.

A statement by Powerful reads: “We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader and prophet Mazi Nnamdi KANU confirm the answer to the prayers of our leader concerning oil discovery in the North. In one of his landmark broadcasts on Radio Biafra, he prayed for God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama to give crude oil to the Northern Region of Nigeria.

Northern Nigeria has large deposits of many solid minerals that are more lucrative than crude oil. But because they thirst for oil, and because of their greedy nature to conquer others, they are ready to do unimaginable things because of oil in Biafraland. In his infinite wisdom, God Almighty Eze Chukwu Okike has settled the fraudulent contraption’s age-long problem of unity occasioned by crude oil.

“Crude oil discovery in the North will certainly settle this forced unity if indeed, they are truthful in settling Nigeria’s problem. Oil or no oil, Biafrans are not interested. All we need is a conducive environment to do our business without fear of terrorists at our borders.”
