The first picture is showing the soil pipes being embedded inside it before casting of the German floor, to me, it's the best way to go about it.

The second picture is showing how to properly lay DPM, it should be laid on every part of the foundation, DPM material varies too, I used very thick polythene here, Bituminous felt, asphalt, and other materials can be used.

The second picture is just a another way to double proof it, like a 2 factor authentication,.if you look closely, you will see a thick black waterproof leather under the wall.
I always like to comment under DPC topic because in this dispensation, dampness in a building shouldn't be our issue again, we ought to have totally overcome it as a nation.

So am trying to understand more about DPM.
It appears it is only put on the external course block work, and not on the internals?.. is this true... If true why is it not put on the internal course block work

2ndly for a bungalow, is there any need to bury or passing plumbing pipes through the foundation b4 doing the german floor

Charisdesigns:
This is an interesting question.

One small clarification smiley: the houses you attached are concrete fascia’s rather than parapet walls. We often interchange this term in Nigeria.

1. What does a parapet wall do?
A parapet is a wall that extends above the roof level, often concealing a roof, Those walls we normally have around a hidden roof

A concrete fascia, is simply a projecting roof edge like the building picture you attached. it provides a finished appearance and can help protect the wall from rain, Your roof tip/edge rest on it, it is attached to the wall and then projects some distance away from the wall. Hence causes rain water fall off away from the building wall. Generally and before before cheesy that what we all call Fascia board and those times we just use timber, but today we can aluminium, fibre cement board or concrete.

2. Must you install one?
No, it is a design choice. You can select the fascia material that suits your building, but most importantly budget and appearance is the major determinant. However most people use concrete.

I will attach our construction picture, you will notice the concrete fascia reinforcement links (stirrups) is connected directly to the roof beam. That will simply allow the concrete fascia to transfer its loads to the supporting roof beam properly.

What determines the design?
The external shapes is largely an aesthetic decision guided by your architect’s design or who is building for you. However, the structural support, construction is important

3. What do we think of the two options?

This is where BIM and 3D visualisation come in. A design that looks excellent on one building may not suit another. Visualising different options before construction helps you compare options and make informed decisions before spending a kobo.

I hope this helps.

Attached images:

Pic 2: A Building design we did featuring a parapet wall.
Pic 3: A Building design we did featuring a concrete fascia.

Well-done bro.

But I would suggest you leave it the layman way, even some engineers refer to concrete fascia as parapet wall, maybe they are also dancing to the tune of the layman sha.

I'm just suggesting this so as not to cause confusion.
