Edward Nnachi, Abakaliki The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday, said that the alleged accommodation of northern interests over those of other majority and minority groups in the country by successive governments was fuelling secessionists agitations in the country. The group alleged that the present federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress. aggravated the situation that escalated the agitations for the Sovereign State of Biafra, led by IPOB. In a paper presented by Kanu, to the European Union Parliament on Tuesday, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH by IPOB’s Deputy Leader, Uche Mefor, the IPOB leader said “After the Nigeria Biafra Civil war, Biafrans slowly rebuilt their world, but as far as Nigeria was concerned, they were not and never had been Biafrans, but were Nigerians from South-East or Igbo-speaking Nigerians.”’ Kanu added, “Biafran war was airbrushed out of the Nigerian consciousness. Biafrans could only whisper about their loss. Joining the global Biafran diaspora was one option for those who could get out of the country; others remained in Biafra land, their Biafran identity amongst themselves, undiminished. “Nigeria leaders, particularly the present administration of Buhari continues to prioritise crushing assertions of Biafra identity has been the order of the day as even peacefully commemorating the war risks arrest, detention, prohibition, ill-treatment or being shot. “In recent years the Nigerian state authorities have conducted three orchestrated campaigns against Biafrans, and the three Operation Python Dance military operations have been battles targeted against the Biafrans, the first being in 2016 and the second in 2017 and the third that is ongoing, all designed to undermine calls for Biafra self determinations. “Operation Python Dance campaigns are laden with intimidation, serious and systemic human rights violations carried out by the state with impunity, and IPOB which is a voice for Biafrans for self-determination, a non-violent group being always targeted for destruction.” https://punchng.com/operation-python-dance-troops-commit-systemic-human-rights-violations-ipob/

A Zimbabwean man, Felix Dube, has sued his wife, Nombulelelo Moyo, at a divorce court, for habitually shouting her ex-lover’s name during sex with him. According to iHarare, Dube had approached the Bulawayo Customary court, claiming he suspects Moyo was still dating her ex, given the frequency, with which she calls out his name during their intimate moments. He told the court, “I’m customarily married to Nombulelelo Moyo and our union has irretrievably broken down as I suspect that she is still dating her ex-lover because, whenever we are in bed, she calls out his name. “As a result there are no prospects of restoration to a normal relationship because we now have irreconcilable differences which render the continuance of the relationship impossible. As a couple, we have also lost love and affection for each other” Moyo also told the court that he had tried to resolve the issue, but his wife verbally and physically assaulted him. https://punchng.com/man-divorces-wife-for-shouting-ex-lovers-name-during-lovemaking/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

The Nigerian Army has deployed its men to the Southwest region to compliment efforts of the Nigerian Police in combating different security challenges in the region. The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Anthony Omozeje, said this on Thursday in Akure while commissioning a reconstructed road at the 32 Artillery Brigade. Mr Omozeje, a major general, who pointed out that the Nigerian Police leads when it comes to issues of internal security, explained that the deployment would assist in combating security challenges in the Southwest. “The Army has already deployed its men to the Southwest. The division covers six states in the region. “We are conducting various operations across the region. So, whatever the police is doing, we are complimenting their efforts because in internal security, the police takes the lead,” he said. The GOC lauded the Ondo State Government for constructing the new road in the barracks in recognition of the role of the military in providing security for the people of the state. “The road we are commissioning today is the contribution of the state government in recognition of the role that the military is playing in providing security for the people and supporting the government to function. “This will impact on the welfare of the officers and troops of this brigade, and it will also have multiple effects on their ability and capacity to deliver on our statutory mandate. “The welfare is the key aspect, it is the effort of the brigade commander to secure the complex and beautify the brigade environment,” the GOC said. Earlier, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, said men of the Nigerian Army had sacrificed a lot and deserved better working environment. Ajayi said the state government would continue to support all security agencies in the state to have a peaceful environment. He noted that the military was doing better in the current civilian dispensation than when the military governed the country. Good journalism costs a lot of money.
