LiteratureRe: The Reflections Of A 'mad Man ' by Valon4ego(op): 2:22pm On Sep 10, 2013
He thought about the foolishness of the world's madmen. He just couldn't understand why they keep doing things like bathing and washing their garments regularly. Why should a man bath only to do so again and again? Why should they bother with washing their clothes, only to have it dirty and needing to be washed again and again? Why should a man take pains to brush his teeth when he can just leave it as it is. Well as for him,he doesn't bother about those things,as the Freeman he believes himself to be. He actually prefers not wearing any clothing at all! He is content with being the way he came into the world. Why all the unnecessary superfluousness, he wonders.

Those madmen bound themselves with many stupid rules all in the name of etiquette. They are careful not to speak unless there's someone to speak to. They don't laugh unless there's another madman close to either be the subject or the object of the laughter so as not to considered mad by other madmen. Well he's a Freeman and is free to think out very loud when he walks in the streets. He's free to laugh at his own jokes, but mainly at the foolishness of those lunatics that consider themselves wise.

Those clowns worry and fret over nothing and everything. They worry about their whelps, and he wonders why they gave birth to them in the first place - well, they are mad, he told himself. They fret and fidget about things not turning out to be as they expected and are they are afraid of the future. Why are man should disturb himself about tomorrow,he just couldn't understand. Well, he's a Freeman, and doesn't bother about tomorrow, how could it possibly be different from today?

Deep in his meditation,he noticed two little madmen walking past his home. They looked at him with those little mad eyes of theirs that seem to mock him for not being part of their madness. He immediately felt like curing their madness, and being the Freeman he believes himself to be and and being able to do exactly what he feels like doing unlike those madmen that have to check with their etiquette as to know what to consider proper, he pursues and quickly caught up with them. He then dealt good blows to their madness, tore their clothes and made sure they looked very much like himself. He left them crying and returned to his home laughing and feeling very pleased with himself. O yes, this is exactly the kind of sports that he very much enjoys!

Well, regardless of what else you may say about the ex-president the guy is a remarkable politician. Though no longer at the helm of affairs, the guy pulls so many strings from the background and continues to remain a major political figure both nationally and internationally. Somehow I can see our dear president fading out of the scene as soon as he hands over to whoever succeeds him
PoliticsAnambra Guber: Andy Uba, An ‘illegal’ Candidate, PDP Tells Court by Valon4ego(op): 7:28am On Sep 06, 2013
ABUJA—The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, told the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court why it would not recognize the Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Senator Andy Uba, as its gubernatorial flagbearer in Anambra State, describing him as an “illegal” candidate.

However, the party, through its lead counsel, Chief J. K Gadzama, SAN, said it would for now, keep all the disciplinary measures it intended to take against Andy, his younger brother, Chief Chris Uba, and three of its members in Anambra State, in abeyance, pending the judgment of the court on the suit filed against it by the plaintiffs.

The three others, including factional chairman of the party, in the state, Chief Ejike Oguebego, Benjamin Udeozor and Mrs. Anthonia Nwankwu, the party told the court, engaged in anti-party activities by organising a parallel congress where Senator Uba was handpicked as a governorship candidate.

In an affidavit deposed to by one Mr Festus Kaunan, PDP maintained that by virtue of its constitution and guidelines for elections, the only approved organ vested with powers to organise governorship primaries in Anambra State was its National Working Committee, NWC, with the approval of the National Executive Committee, NEC.

It insisted: “The State Executive Committee of the party possesses no such power or right to organise primary elections or any congress for nomination of governorship candidate in any election.

Senator Andy Uba

“The plaintiffs purported to have conducted a congress for the governorship primaries in Anambra State on August 24, 2013, in deviance, total disregard, blatant disobedience to and breach of the congress as approved and conducted by the NEC of the party in line with the provisions of Article 31(2) (j) and 50 of the constitution of the PDP 2012.

“There is no State Executive Committee known by law or recognized by the party in Anambra State. Ejike Oguebego is not the state chairman of PDP in Anambra State and even if he is, cannot organise any primary election in Anambra State.

“The purported State Executive Committee under which Ejike Oguebego is claiming legitimacy has been nullified by a court of competent jurisdiction in suit No. FCT/HC/CV/2631/12 Hon Emma Mbamalu V. PDP.

“The plaintiffs/applicants have done everything “illegal” and have engaged in anti-party activities, organised a parallel congress against the constitution and guidelines to election on the association they are members. I know as a fact that the plaintiffs are aware of the rules of the political party they belong.

“The plaintiffs/applicants by conducting an exercise which they called PDP gubernatorial primary election on 24/08/2013, in which the second defendant purportedly emerged as gubernatorial candidate of PDP, by unlawfully using PDP name, logo, symbol and sensitive materials for that exercise without authority and in defiance of the party’s constitution and the law, has committed an illegal, invalid, criminal, unconstitutional act under our laws and also serious party offences under the constitution of PDP 2012 as amended.”

PDP further told the court that it did not deny the plaintiffs their right to fair hearing, saying it suspended them after they refused to honour an invitation to appear before it to explain alleged divisive roles they played in Anambra State,

The party said: “The applicants do not want to be subjected to the rules, constitution and guidelines of the party and are taking laws into their hands.”

Besides, the party said it had filed a formal complaint to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Abubakar, “to investigate where the plaintiffs/applicants obtained the sensitive materials with which it conducted primary election in Anambra on August 24, 2013, at Emmaus House.”

Meanwhile, sequel to an agreement between counsel to the plaintiffs, Mr Taiwo Abe, and that of the PDP, Gadzama, SAN, Justice Ahmed Mohammed struck out both the ex-parte application and motion on notice earlier filed by the plaintiffs, which the court had relied upon to quash their suspension from the party, even as the court fixed September 17 to hear the substantive matter on its merit.

More so, Justice Mohammed ordered all the parties to maintain the status-quo, pending the determination of the suit before the court.

This was even as PDP told the court that it will today file a preliminary objection to seek the dismissal of Andy Uba’s suit on the premise that it not only lacked in merit, but bordered on an internal affair of a political party.

LiteratureThe Reflections Of A 'mad Man ' by Valon4ego(op):
The weather is cold, but he doesn't mind that. He's perfectly at ease in his home, where he sees himself as the rightful landlord, safe and isolated from a world full of mad men.

Well ,but even madmen have their uses, come to think of it, as they have over the years built his home for him — albeit unwittingly -by depositing what they see as refuse and wastes there. Looking around this place where he sees himself as the rightful landlord, he feels very much like the freeman he believes himself to be, free from the follys of the world's mad men.

He then sighted a couple of pigs that shares his home with him, they do irritate him sometimes but he prefers their company to that of mad men. He doesn't mind how his home smalls — he doesn't mind anything at all, being the Freeman he believes himself to be. He guessed that he smells the same way as his home, well all the better.

THE BURGLE

"It's only humans that would cut down trees, make paper from them and write DONT CUT TREES on them!"
This, I muttered to myself in wonder while searching through my old and overstocked cupboard that bore the burden of accomodating my too many books (which now lay scattered) like a woman pregnant with quadruplets as I stumbled on a pamphlet with the inscription "SAVE TREES TODAY, PRESERVE THE FUTURE!" which had been given to me during the [b]National Agriculture Students Association week
by Tope, the Forestry and wildlife management student with whom I and ten others shared the unconducive room 44.
After reading through it twice, it inspired me into writing a poem on nature which Tope had refered to as "a boring game" and succeeded in spoiling my day in return for showing him the poem.
"I'm sure he does not even know the content of the pamphlet he shared two weeks ago" I thought, continuing my search as my sweat pores began to pump out sweat like a vandalised NNPC pipeline. I dug further into the cockroach infested cupboard with eager hands like a starved dog struggling for food.

To be continued....

i said something about Mat cauthon's epic quote on women, here it is (he just got separated from his wife and was travelling with some ladies that quite frustrated his life)
"Women are like
[omited]. It's like . . .
Well, reasoning
with a woman is
like sitting down
to a friendly game of dice.
Only the woman
refuses to
acknowledge the
basic bloody rules
of the game. A man, he'll cheat
you - but he'll do
it honestly. He'll
use loaded dice,
so that you think
you're losing by chance. And if
you aren't clever
enough to spot
what he's doing,
then maybe he
deserves to take your coin. And
that's that. A
woman, though,
she'll sit down to
that same game
and she'll smile, and act like she's
going to play.
Only when it's
her turn to
throw, she'll toss
a pair of her own dice that are
blank on all six
sides. Not a single
pip showing.
She'll inspect the
throw, then she'll look up at
you and say,
'clearly I just
won.' Now, you'll
scratch your head
and look at the dice. Then you'll
look up at her,
then down at the
dice again 'But
there aren't any
pips on these dice' you'll say."
'Yes there are,'
she'll say. 'And
both dice rolled a
one.' 'That's
exactly the number you need
to win,' you'll
say. 'What a
coincidence,'
she'll reply, then
begin to scoop up your coins. And
you'll sit there,
trying to wrap
your head 'bout
what just
happened. And you'll realise
something. A pair
of ones isn't the
winning throw!
Not when you
threw a six on your turn. That
means she
needed a pair of
twos instead!
Excitedly you'll
explain what you've
discovered. Only
then do you
know what she'll
do?" "No idea,
Mat." "Then she'll reach over
and rub the blank
faces of her dice.
And then, with a
perfectly straight
face, she'll say, 'I'm sorry. There
was a spot of dirt
on the dice.
Clearly you'll see
they actually
came up as twos!' And she'll
believe it. She'll
bloody believe
it!" "Incredible."
"Only that's not
the end of it!" "I had presumed it
wouldn't be
Mat." "She
scoops up all of
your coins. And
then every other wonam in the
room will come
over and
congratulate her
on throwing that
pair of twos! The more you
complain, the
more those
bloody women
will join in the
argument. You'll be outnumbered
in a moment, and
each of those
women will
explain to you
how those dice clearly read twos,
and how you
really need to
stop behaving
like a child. Every
single flaming one of them will
see the twos!
even the prudish
woman who has
hated your
woman from birth - since your
woman's granny
stole the other
woman's
granny's
honeycake recipe when they were
both maids - that
woman will side
against you."
"They're
nefarious creatures
indeed." "By the
time they're
done, you'll be
left with no coin,
several lists worth of errands
to run and what
clothing to wear
and a splitting
headache. You'll
sit there and stare at the table
and begin to
wonder, just
maybe, if those
dice didn't read
twos after all. If only to preserve
what's left of
your sanity.
That's what it's
like to reason
with a woman, I tell you."

these quotes from matrim cauthon are all from the 13th book of the wheel of time series
He had found Setalle at the supply tents, overseeing the midday meal ... Setalle was not needed here; the Band's cooks had always been able to prepare meals without her. But there was nothing a woman liked better than finding men who were relaxing, then giving them orders. Besides, Setalle was a former innkeeper and—remarkably—a former Aes Sedai. Mat often found her supervising things that did not need supervising. Not for the first time, he wished Tuon were still traveling with him. Setalle had usually taken Tuon's side, she had kept her busy. Nothing was more dangerous for the sanity of men than a woman with too much time on her hands. Setalle still wore clothing of the Ebou Dari style... That kind of outfit worked particularly well on a woman as buxom as Setalle. Not that he noticed...The jeweled wedding knife worn around her neck seemed something of a warning, the way it nestled in her cleavage. Not that Mat noticed that, either.
2
Instead, he wasmarried to a Seanchan High Blood and was off to beg the Queen of Andor for her help. How did he get these situations? Sometimes he thought that the Creator must be like Talmanes. Straight of face, but secretly having a grand time laughing at Mat.
3
His eyes found Elayne immediately. She sat beside a hearth, holding a cup of what appearedto be milk. She looked radiant in a gown of deep red and gold. Beautiful, full red lips that Mat would not have minded kissing, if he had not been a married man.... She seemed to have gained a littleweight. Best not to mention that. Or should he? Sometimes women got angry when you mentioned that they looked different, and sometimes they got angry if you did not notice.
the guy seems to have a unique philosophy about women. I will be back for more

“I’ll put it in line right

“My dear, have you
ever known me to
make an
inflammatorily
ridiculous statement
without providing an equally ridiculous
explanation to
substantiate it?”
“Of course not,” she
agreed. “You are
nothing if not exhaustive in your self-
congratulatory made-
up logic.”

LiteratureRe: Top Quotes From Novels You've Read by Valon4ego(op): 11:20am On Mar 31, 2013
these classic quotes are from the novel warbreaker, and mainly from lightsong, my favourite god in the book.
“Mocking a woman is
like drinking too much
wine. It may be fun for
a short time, but the hangover is hell.”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker “Unknowing ignorance
is preferable to
informed stupidity.”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker
“You're a very difficult
person to manipulate,
you know."
"Nonsense," he said.
"You just have to
promise me that I won't have to do a
thing, and then I'll do
anything you want."
"Anything?"
"Anything that
doesn't require doing anything."
"That's nothing,
then."
"Is it?"
"Yes."
"Well, that's something.”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker “I swear, my dear.
Sometimes our
conversations remind
me of a broken
sword."
She raised an eyebrow. "Sharp as hell,"
Lightsong said, "but
lacking a point.”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker
“Every man is a hero of
his own story.”
― Brandon Sanderson
“My dear, did you just
try to prove the
existence of God
through the use of
your cleavage?”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker
“It was strange, how
easily and quickly
protection could cause
destruction.
Sometimes, Vasher
wondered if the two weren't really the
same thing. Protect a
flower, destroy pests
who wanted to feed on
it. Protect a building,
destroy the plants that could have grown in
the soil. Protect a man.
Live with the
destruction he
creates.”
― Brandon Sanderson, Warbreaker

“Regardless, you ask
why I
did not greet you.
Well, let us assume
that I had acted as you
suggest I should. Upon your
approach, you would
have had me gush over
you?”
“Naturally.”
“You would have me point out how
stunning you appear in
that gown?”
“I wouldn’t complain.”
“Mention how your
dazzling eyes glisten in the fireworks like
burning
embers?”
“That would be nice.”
“Expound on how your
lips are so perfectly red that they could
leave any
man breathless with
wonder, yet drive him
compose the most
brilliant of poetry each time he
re called the moment?”
“I’d be flattered for
certain.”
“And you claim you
want these reactions from me?”
“I do.”
“Well blast it, woman,”
Lightsong said, picking
up his cup. “If I’m
stunned, dazzled, and breathless, then how
the hell am I supposed
to greet
you? By definition,
won’t I be struck
dumb?” She laughed. “Well,
then, you’ve obviously
found your tongue
now.”
“Surprisingly, it was in
my mouth,” he said. “I always forget to check
there.”
