Nissan's semi-autonomous ProPilot driving system set to arrive in Japan next month
Nissan’s new semi-autonomous driving system – ProPilot – is set to arrive in the $28,758 Serena minivan, though the company have specifically warned users not to overestimate what its feature is capable of.
"Its functions are meant to support drivers, and are not meant as self-driving capabilities" which let drivers look away from the road, as stated by the Executive Vice President Hideyuki Sakamoto. "These are two very different things."
ProPilot is designed for single-lane use. Like Tesla’s system, it requires drivers to keep their hands on the wheel even when in use. If the hands are removed, a warning sign will flash after four seconds and an alarm will sound after ten seconds.
The feature will automatically control the distance between the car and the vehicle in front, using speeds preset by the driver of between 18mph and 60mph. It can also keep the car in the center of a lane using its 360-degree camera system and on-board processors. ProPilot is built to ease driver workload when highway traffic is heavy and on long commutes.



If the car in front comes to a complete stop, so will the Serena. It won’t resume moving without direct input from the driver; tapping on the gas or pressing the ProPilot button will release the brakes.
While the ProPilot in current form is intended as a driver’s aid, the company will be introducing more autonomy to the system over the coming years. The ability to handle multiple-lane switching is set to arrive in 2018, and it should be able to take on urban roads and intersections by 2020.
Nissan also said that it planning to implement the ProPilot into the Qashqai sports utility vehicle crossover models in the next few months. The system is set to launch in Europe sometime on 2017, and it will arrive in US and China at later date

Recently Asus unveiled its flagship ZenFone 3 Deluxe smartphone alongside two other models at Computex. At the lunching time, the PC and electronics producer said it would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC, the same processor powering a majority of today’s high-end smartphones.
As it turns out now, Asus wasn’t entirely truthful with regard to the ZenFone 3 Deluxe’s power plant (or it maybe that plans changed at the very last moment but that seems unlikely if production was already underway).
At the launching events in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Asus
revealed that its new flagship would instead be powered by Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 821 chip which makes it the first device in the world to sport the speedy SoC.
If you can recall, the Snapdragon 821 features a faster clock speed of 2.4GHz for its performance core cluster and 2.0GHz for its power cluster. Its Adreno 530 GPU also runs a bit faster, as were told.
Qualcomm said users can expect a 10 percent performance increase compared to its Snapdragon 820 SoC.
The ZenFone 3 Deluxe features a 5.7-inch, 1080p AMOLED display with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of local storage. Other notables include a 23-megapixel f/2.0 Sony IMX318 camera with optical image stabilization and laser autofocus around back, an 8-megapixel f/2.0 camera up front, a fingerprint scanner, dual SIM card slot, USB Type-C and a 3,000mAh battery. It’ll arrive running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the latest version of Asus’ overlay, ZenUI.
Look for the ZenFone 3 Deluxe to land in Taiwan and Hong Kong next month priced at the USD equivalent of around $780.

A lot of people hoped that the recent Warcraft movie would mark a turning point for motion pictures based on video games. But despite many fans of the franchise enjoying the film and its remarkable success in China, Warcraft was hammered by most critics and made just $24.4 million during its opening weekend in the US.
The chances that we’ll finally get a universally liked, commercially successful movie based on a video game now rest on the shoulders of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed. And judging from the last trailer, it could be the one that breaks the trend of titles that range from better than average (first Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat) to vomit-inducingly awful (Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead).
However, Ubisoft isn’t expecting Assassin’s Creed to break any box office records. Speaking to MCV, the company’s EMEA executive director, Alain Corre, said: “We are not going to earn a lot of money from it. It is a lot more a marketing thing. It is also good for the image of the brand.”
"Although we will make some money, it is not the purpose of this movie,” he continued. “The purpose is to bring Assassin's Creed to more people. We have our core fans, but what we would like is to put this franchise in front of a lot more people who, maybe, will then pick up future Assassin's Creed games."
It's not that the company is expecting it to be a flop. Ubisoft's head of content for the Assassin's Creed brand, Azaïzia Aymar, previously said that the Michael Fassbender vehicle will be the first movie based on a video game to work.
The game developer’s internal film division reportedly has plans for two Assassin’s Creed sequels, along with big screen adaptations of Splinter Cell and The Division. But whether good, bad, or just average, it seems Ubisoft’s main hope for the movies is that they convince more people to buy its.

GTA 5 Redux graphical mod nears completion as TrackMania-style online update looms
For a game that’s nearly three years old, Grand Theft Auto V still looks remarkably modern. That said, father time has taken its toll as the game no longer has the ability to take your breath away as the original did in 2013 (or even the polished PC version that dropped last year) which is something that simply wasn’t acceptable to one modder.
With GTA 5 Redux, modder Josh Romito has seemingly improved on every aspect of the open-world sandbox. As GameSpot notes, the latest trailer showcases two snippets of gameplay footage. Starting near the middle of the clip, we see action taking place on the highway as the sun is setting followed by a downtown sequence while rain pours down.
So, what’s new? The publication highlights improvements to 4K textures, new weather effects and enhanced lighting as well as a host of smaller changes such as altered blood effects, leaves that fall from trees more consistently and individually crafted direct light for every body of water in the game.
The only bad news here is that the mod isn’t quite ready for download. Romito promises to share the launch date in his next video.
