PhonesCould Samsung Be Planning Two Versions Of The Galaxy Note 7?check It Out Here by Vanchadwick(op): 5:54pm On Jul 07, 2016
It always a case when a major new smartphone is about to be lunched. With Samsung’s next Galaxy Note smartphone almost here, we’re now getting new and sometimes contradicting leaks every week.
It seems almost certain that the next Galaxy Note won’t be called the Note 6 – something you would expect as the last handset in the range was the Note 5. Instead, Samsung wants to bring the name in line with its current flagship S series – the S7 – skipping the Note 6 entirely.
A number of reports claims that we’ve got less than a month to wait before the Note 7 is officially unveiled. Samsung is expected to show the device off for the first time at an Unpacked event on August 2. The Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus were revealed at a similar event on August 13 last year.
The most recent rumor involves the Note 7’s screen size. It had been expected to ship with either a 5.7-inch or 5.8-inch display, but a listing on Indian import-export site Zauba suggested that it will come with a 6-inch screen.
Samsung has a major R&grin department located in Bangalore, India, which is where the phone is heading. While it doesn’t specifically state that it is the Note 7, the model number – SM-N930R4 – has previously been reported as the handset’s internal code. More evidence that this is the upcoming phablet is the fact that it follows the Note 5’s N920 model number.
The 6-inch screen contradicts the recent information to come from Evan Blass. The prolific and reliable leaker recently released a set of Note 7 renders and said the handset's dual curved edge screen will measure 5.7 inches.
Assuming Blass is correct, and he usually is, this means that the Zauba listing may be a variant of the Note 7 base model that comes with a larger screen. This theory does make sense as many people buy Notes for their bigger displays, and a 5.7-inch screen is only 0.2 inches larger than the S7 display.
It could also be that the Zauba listing is a prototype, but, as pointed out by International Business Times, it is incredibly unlikely that Samsung would be testing the main model so close to its official unveiling.
Other than the screen size, other leaks claim the Note 7 will feature a QHD Super AMOLED display, 64GB storage, microSD support, USB Type-C, a 12-megapixel rear camera along with a five-megapixel front-facing version, 6GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 820 or 823 SoC, and iris-scanning technology. It will also be resistant to both dust and water and come in three colors: Black Onyx, Silver Titanium, and Blue Coral.

Car TalkBMW, Intel, And Mobileye Set To Work Together On Self-driving Car by Vanchadwick(op): 5:11pm On Jul 04, 2016
Car vendors and tech firms are working to develop autonomous driving cars, that is expected to shape the future of private and public transportation. The latest vendors includes BMW, Intel and machine-vision technology company Mobileye, with senior executives set to detail the project in a press conference this Friday. Mobileye is a top supplier of cameras, software and other components used in driver assistance systems from handful of brands -- including BMW and Tesla. They also announced there partnerships with Volkswagen, Nissan and General Motors to develop a new mapping technology that gathers crowd-sourced real-time data from automakers’ fleets of vehicles On its part Intel has been looking for a way to get into vehicles as it currently lags behind companies such as NXP Semiconductors. There deal with BMW would certainly be a high-profile entry into a segment that is expected to become popular in the years ahead. BMW has already confirmed plans to launch a new flagship car equipped with autonomous driving capability in 2021. Codenamed 'i Next' the vehicle will feature “autonomous driving, digital connectivity, intelligent lightweight design, a totally new interior and ultimately bringing the next generation of electro-mobility to the road." It’s unclear if the new partnership being announced is related to that project or something else entirely.

Science/TechnologyFacebook Set To Start Showing Friends And Family Posts First In The News Feed by Vanchadwick(op): 9:46pm On Jul 03, 2016
Facebook set to change its News Feed algorithm to favour posts from friends and family. Facebook said the alteration will ensure users don’t miss the updates they care about most by putting them at the top of their feeds. When the update rolls out, which will happen “over the coming weeks,” expect to see more pictures of babies, weddings, and food, while posts from businesses, publishers, and celebrities will get less exposure. Facebook brought in a similar algorithm change that favored content from friends last year, but it seems that the upcoming update will push this even more further. Those who you’ve chosen to “see first” will be given the highest priority, as will people whose posts you often like or comment on. "If you tend to like photos from your sister," Facebook VP Adam Mosseri said, "we'll start putting her posts closer to the top of your feed so you won't miss what she posted while you were away." The posts from the various Pages you follow will be ranked on how informative or entertaining they are; this will be based on factors such as how often you like stories featuring the same subject. Facebook have also warned that the change could result in less page traffic for certain businesses on the network. “Overall, we anticipate that this update may cause reach and referral traffic to decline for some Pages,” said Facebook Engineering Director Lars Backstrom. “The specific impact on your Page’s distribution and other metrics may vary depending on the composition of your audience. For example, if a lot of your referral traffic is the result of people sharing your content and their friends liking and commenting on it, there will be less of an impact than if the majority of your traffic comes directly through Page posts.” The news may sound bad for publishers who rely on Facebook for traffic, it could ultimately prove to be beneficial. Good content that recieves plenty of shares will reach a larger audience, and annoying clickbait items should appear less often. The Senate Commerce Committee opened an inquiry into Facebook last month following allegations that it suppressed conservative news stories in its Trending Topics section. The investigation ultimately found no political bias from the company, but it’s unclear if the incident has in any way influenced the decision to change the News Feed algorithm.
