Travel / Re: Benue Man Dies In Fatal Motor Crash After Depositing His Late Sister (Photos) by vasenda: 12:10am On Dec 24, 2021
The loss is just too much for their mother who is old. I can only imagine what this family went through. I was made to understand that they sold off almost all their property to keep alive Viola who was suffering from kidney failure and needed dialysis for the past 5years. She died on Friday 17th December and her only brother who took her corpse back home and deposited in the mortuary got involved in an accident that claimed his life. This is terrible.

Agriculture / Closed Land Borders: The Good Side by vasenda: 11:25am On Nov 03, 2019
As a Nigerian, i am glad the government took the right decision to close its land borders. We all need to see things from different angles to appreciate governments position( i mean from the angle of an open/closed border).

I applaud the decision of the Federal government on this. We talk of unemployment when our land borders are open even to the things we can produce or source locally. I have seen a lot of enterprenual activity following this decision.
There is premium on local rice, poultry products, and many others. You can name them.
Agriculture / Sourcing Day Old Chicks: Broilers, Pullets, Noilers And Turkey Poults.nd by vasenda: 12:45pm On Sep 27, 2019
Sourcing broiler chicks, pullets, turkey poults is a key stage in starting a poultry farm here in Nigeria. Whether you buy from agents or directly from breeder farms, there are insightful pieces of information we all need to have handy, for proper planing as well as decision making.

We are agent to some farms and would like to plead that here before we proceed with our subsequent posts.

In the media it is closed but in reality it is not. You will be shocked if you travel by night here.

EMMAACHILE:

I thought the border has been closed all these while. You mean people still import broilers here?

I'm interested in getting FIDAN DOC broiler this coming Thursday 14/08. how much is the price?
Agriculture / Re: ... by vasenda: 12:44am On Aug 14, 2019
Price for Thursday 14th August, 2019 is already around #250. If the Nigerian border is closed, frozen chicken dealers and cold room owners will go back to farming and this will force the price of DOC broiler to go up this year.

eddyline:

thanks for the response. targeting a weight of say 4kg.
concerning the hike in price, well even for this coming Sallah where the use of chicken is considerably low, there was still a hike in price.we bought DOC for as high as 300naira. I still think there may be a substantial rise in the price this year sir. Shalom

With the coming of Olam, you should expect price war between the farms (competition). Some farms that are servicing loans will surely be rattled whenever Olam products are in the market because it means reduced inflow.

Again, it's difficult to say which farm dictates price of DOC. The price changes as a result of demand (high and low demand). Most farms reduce price of DOC just to manage glut and compete with other farms.

So in all, Olam is just a big player out there
with other big players like CHI, AMO, ZARTECH e.t.c. I am involved as a DOC marketer and I can tell you that a lot is involved in pricing DOCs. Infact, broiler will still surpass you 250 Max forecast and get to 300 from all indication available.

EMMAACHILE:

Then why are all the other hatcheries complaining of Olam?
I deal with facts here as seen in the link. Olam is Africa's biggest hatchery and feedmill.
https://allafrica.com/stories/201709120029.html

Agrited just announced building a new large hatchery by agrotop am sure to counter this or compete with Olam. It's all good for the consumer market. Prices of meat and eggs will surely be affordable to anyone in the long run.
EMMAACHILE:

I know of eggs and some is done through the support of hitherto moribund farms around the north. They supply the farms with the layers, drugs and feed and also attach vet doctors to monitor the process on these farms.

Olam is controlling almost all poultry options in the north. It's that large.

Buying Cheap birds can be expensive @ the end of day. Always go for good birds that are less expensive and that can give value for money spent.
