Great tutors of Nairaland visa institute, please I would like to know if it's advisable as last resort for a couple to use a room (ensuite) in a shared house to meet accommodation requirements (of course with an inspection report).
Tutor Lexus and co, pls help out |

Lexusgs430: Ideal travel date, is only for reference. If you apply in December and apply via priority, put a travel date of mid January.
If you apply via normal application route, put a travelling date to reflect about 3/4 months afterwards .........
NB: As stated, date are simply for reference. They would never speed up application to meet your travelling date ...... Thank you |

Lexusgs430: If your application has not yet been dealt with by 1st February, what do you do ? Thank you for your response Lexus. That's the reason I'm asking, so say for a 1st December application, when should an ideal travel date be? |

Please house, I need advice on this, should the travel date be any time you like or does it have a set of rule ....say like you apply 1st January and your travel date is put as 1st February or must it follow the application processing time frame they give? |

Lexusgs430: You submit an application in December, the aspect of satisfying the accommodation prerequisite, is of an accommodation that your sponsor is yet to reside in.......
Your application status must be live and not only on paper....... So in clear terms, you advice I leave the application till he's moved in to the accommodation in January? |

You want to submit an application with an address, that your sponsor is not living in ? Am I right or left? Yes it would state commencement of contract. Better said like this: I want to submit an application with an address my sponsor have paid for and would be moving into |

Hello people, gurus in the house, please I have a question. My husband (that feels good) plans to get us a place (1 bedroom flat or studio flat) for our accommodation when I join him.
Hubby's present tenancy is due in December, so the plan is to get a place (1 bed or studio) before I apply and pay for it (rent and tenancy will start in January).
My question is 1. Will home office have any issue with a studio flat?
2. Considering the tenancy and first rent starts in January after my application, will that be an issue?
*we plan to submit tenancy agreement, letter from landlord and rent receipt...
Thanks |

MTN isn't being fair to their customers at all, first it was my mum's line being extra billed, maybe because she's always recharging. Since I started recharging my line often, I noticed same thing.
The most painful is MTN subscribed me to their back up service without my request, and then proceeded to deduct a N100 from my line which is totally unacceptable. I called customer care to resolve it, he did but tactfully evaded the refund part.
MTN PLEASE REFUND MY N100 AND ALSO STOP THE BOGUS BILLING ON MY LINE AND MY MUM'S! |

Cruzenchelon080: Hello all, Pls I really need all your help. My wife and two children are all British citizens and are currently living in the UK. Pls i want to know how much should be in my account as cash saving for six months before I can apply for a spouse visa due to I'm not a salary earner If your wife works in the UK and earns above £18600 annually, then no need for cash savings, you only need to show her six months payslip (I.e. if she's been in same job for six months or more), and some documents from her work to back it up and you are good....if you have the patience to read from page one of this thread, you'll find all the info you need for the spouse (Settlement) visa application. Cheers! |

deji2009: I would advice you to do a proper registry wedding at a genin registry centre and have your certificate. If possible
also have a church wedding with your certificte. I've submitted my priority spouse visa application with an 11 months old daughter not long ago. We also included Affidavit, Punch Newspaper public announcement of my wife's change of name Dec 2015 of name.I was a student studing nursing at the time as a British Citizen and we had to be patient and now I am in full time employment earning close to £30k per annum.
We had spent close to £7k for the spouse visa and wedding cost excluding wife and daughter's allowance of which the evidence was also provided. Your relationship needs to develop or have a child and provide evidence are ways to suggest that you're in a geuine relationship. If I were you, I will ignore DSS. Moreover, wiki is not a reliable website for information to do with your life. Simply call or email UKVI for information. I spent close to £20 on phone calls and emails. Dont assume anything. Dont forget your English requirement, wife's UK NARIC was C1 which is above the requirement. The UK is a financial hub and want our money at all cost. I was reluctant to type these, however, I had to because others also took their time out to type when I needed help.
Good luck to both of us ! Thank you for taking out time to type this despite your reluctance, I really do appreciate. Yes, I'm doing a proper registry wedding & getting my certificate at a genuine center (Federal Marriage registry Abuja), hence, the reason for the whole DSS dilemma, which of course has been sorted out by the good people if this forum. As for my Visa application, I'm yet to start the process, but from my findings and of course info from this great forum, I got the visa requirements covered. I wish you, your spouse and your baby success in your application. We await the good news here... Cheers! |

oxygyne: @lexusgs430 Lol... I get your point but like @Veacon said, some people just don't know about the DSS clause for foreign credentials and for others their partners aren't Nigerian. At the end of the day, we hope this forum would shed more light on issues like these. Thank you for always hitting the nail on the head in a funny way.
@everyone Please note that just as we have fast-track for visa application, there is nothing wrong with fast-tracking applications in Nigeria. Just make sure it is a legit/authorized process and a genuine receipt is given for any payment made. But I still believe that for registry marriage a notice period is an imperative part of the process.
@veacon Thanks for shedding more light on this issue, now others will know what to do when they face this challenge in the future. From your messages I can deduce the following:
1. Special License Marriage - This is valid for Marriages that involve non-citizens . Apparently obtainable within 24hrs and requires a 100k DSS waiver (integrity not guaranteed and unverifiable). Seems to be the only option for couples with foreign credentials. 2. 7-days notice period Registry Marriage - which does not require DSS waiver and can only be used if both parties have Nigerian credentials. (yet to be verified) 3. 21-days notice period Registry Marriage - which does not require DSS waiver and can only be used if both parties have Nigerian credentials. 4. Caveat - I believe this information is for Abuja Registry right, so might not be the same for Lagos. 5. @veacon - Please correct me on the information above if I am wrong, thank you. You try wella...shows you get A1 for summary in WAEC. Wehdone! |

@veacon Thanks for shedding more light on this issue, now others will know what to do when they face this challenge in the future. From your messages I can deduce the following:
1. Special License Marriage - which can be obtained within 24hrs costing about 62k and requires a 100k DSS waiver (not recommended)
When one of the intending couple is a foreigner or has dual citizenship & Can be obtained as soon as they want it, as long as it falls on their wedding dates (Tues, Thurs, Sat).
2. 7-days notice period Registry Marriage - [i]which does not require DSS waiver and can be used when one member of the couple has a foreign credential.
No, this is used when one if the intending couple is both a Nigerian citizen & foreigner (dual citizenship) or is a Nigerian and has a foreign address. Such person must meet the full requirements Nigerian locals meet (Local govt ID).
3. 21-days notice period Registry Marriage - which does not require DSS waiver and can only be used if both parties have Nigerian credentials.
CORRECT!
4. Caveat - I believe this information is for Abuja Registry right, so might not be the same for Lagos. I've seen a different procedure for ikoyi registry from my findings, though haven't been there to inquire in person. Hence, I believe so too, though not 100% sure.
Please correct me on the information above if I am wrong, thank you. |

derbylicious: I’m currently searching for link to a DSS official, if the security clearance is actually done, I doubt it would cost what the registry is unrealistically asking for.
Alternatively, as @Lexusgs430 stated, a higher ranked employee in the said registry can induce a slash.
Smdh! I did all that, searched for a link, called a high ranking friend who works with security personnel in Nigeria and he said he doubts any such thing exists. From my experience when i went for the enquiry, This security Clearance info won't be explained to you by the junior officers who originally attend to you, after explaining all other criteria, they would take you to the Registrar/Deputy registrar who then breaks it down to you and goes further to tell you how almost impossible it is to get the clearance as witnessed by others and how they have decided to simplify things for intending couples by introducing the N100k waiver. So please tell me, which higher authority is there to go to?...the whole process is just sickening. Like I advised, if you can get tru to DSS for the clearance, please by all means do! |

Lexusgs430: If the sponsor does not have dual citizenship, he/she would have to do what it takes to jump all the necessary hurdles.....
If DSS wants 100K and its a documented payment, it would have to be paid.... DSS aren't asking for N100k, the registry is asking for it as a waiver for the DSS security clearance and I doubt it's documented. |
