TV/Movies / Project Fame Finalists: The Journey So Far by VelmaIT: 12:54pm On Sep 16, 2015
It’s not been easy for the 7 finalists of the MTN project fame season 8.0 but it has certainly been worth it for them.

These singers have fought their way through to this point and have their consistency and resilience to thank for it.

Let’s take a quick look at how they all started.

Emmanuel Amos Anderson

This 21 years old talented singer started his quest for fame from the Lagos auditions where he stood out among the teeming crowd of MTN Project Fame Hopefuls.

Anderson is known for his strong vocal dexterity which he has put to good use in the Academy so far. This lucky chap also made history as the first contestant to be recalled after he was eliminated from the show.

Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwumi

As a raw talent, Gold has always craved for an opportunity to be groomed into a talented product. Safe to say that she got her wish!
With her cute face, Gold’s silky voice and the way she has put it to good use has seen her emerge as one of the consistent contestants in the Academy.
Also, she remains the only contestant who never really tasted probation this season.

Fumilayo Comfort Arewa

If you’ve been following Arewa, you will agree that she is full of surprises! She is unpredictable and delivers every time!!
Like Gold, this superstar in the making, also got one of the things she always wanted: the opportunity to be molded into an extraordinary superstar.

Deinde Okubajo

The court jester of the Academy and the originator of the #Ibinu movement started his journey of fame from the Lagos Auditions.
This sonorous singer loves to sing Reggae as he believes this genre brings to fore his vocal dexterity.

Jeffrey Ufedo Akor

Though ‘Solomon’, as he is fondly referred to by Uncle Ben, is the youngest finalist in the Academy, he has shown to the world that he is a great performer as he is a singer. There is always something to warm your heart each time he performs. No wonder the ladies like him.

Amma Korantema Kumi

All the way from Ghana, ever gracious Kumi has proved her worth in the Academy by taking up challenges to prove she is a versatile singer. Protest singer as Mummy J calls her, Kumi is not afraid to try new things. The question is, will the grand prize be going to a Ghanaian this season?

Olanma Pearl Awa-Agwu

The journey for Pearl started from Port Harcourt, where she and her twin sister Ruby, wowed the regional judges. After the elimination of her twin, she vowed to do her best to win the competition for her sister. Her strategy thus far in the competition is “When the going gets tough, the tough gets going”. It appears to have kept her this far in the Academy.

TV/Movies / Geoffrey Oji, Mtn Project Fame 7.0 Winner Dedicates Song To Mtn Foundation. by VelmaIT: 12:36pm On Sep 16, 2015
One of the side highlights of the final non-elimination night of Project Fame 8.0 was the dedication of a song specially written by Geoffrey Oji for the MTN Foundation. The song titled ‘Every day is a chance’ was written by Geoffrey under the guidance of hit producer and song writer, Cobhams Asuquo during the former’s stay in the Academy.
Established 10 years ago, The MTN foundation is today Nigeria’s biggest CSR platform contributing immensely to the social, health, economic and educational development in Nigeria.

Geoffrey was joined by the Top 7 finalists to render a moving performance on this auspicious occasion.

The winner of last season’s competition, Geoffrey also seized the opportunity to launch his 7-track EP titled “Bursted”. The Benue Born Artiste performed some of his hit tracks and of course, he took a moment to appreciate the MTN Project Fame platform, for which he owes his success.

The show also featured special appearance from MTN Project Fame Alumni, Emeka aka. Emekus, Christian and Ugo.

Music/Radio / Mtn Project Fame Honours Afro-beat Legend - Chike, Oluchi, Joy Exit The Academy by VelmaIT: 3:37pm On Sep 09, 2015
The journey which started with 16 contestants has seen them whittled down to only 7.
As usual, the MTN Project Fame Elimination show was not without the usual emotional rush as Chike, Oluchi and Joy bade goodbye to the Academy.
The show opened with a memorable rendition of songs from Fela Anikulapo-Kuti by the 10 contestants in the Academy, each one honouring the Afro-Beat legend with a mash-up delivery of Lady, Water and Zombie.
Arewa, Pearl, Chike, Oluchi and Joy, who had the lowest audience votes performed again for a fighting chance to remain in the academy.
After their delightful performances, Arewa, Pearl and Kumi remained in the competition after being saved by the Judges, the Faculty and a tie breaker delivered by the contestant with the most audience votes, which in this case was - Ada.
While the lucky trio savour the joy of their stay in the academy, for Chike, Oluchi and Joy, it is a painful end to their dreams of fame and fortune via the MTN Project Fame Platform.
The question is, who will taste the bitter pills of eviction next?

Business / Project Fame 8: Amos Anderson Makes Historic Comeback by VelmaIT: 4:47pm On Aug 31, 2015
History was made in the ongoing weekly MTN Project Fame West Africa 8.0 as Emmanuel Amos Anderson became the first contestant in the history of the competition to be eliminated and then readmitted into the competition.
Anderson, who is currently studying International Relations at IRGIB Africa University, Cotonou was the centre of attention as the judges were forced to cave into pressure from the audience by granting him reprieve to continue in the competition following his initial elimination.
Like a prophet, Show anchor, Joseph Benjamin, set the tone for what could turned out to be the most nerve racking episode of this year’s edition of Project Fame with his ominous speech: “The show this week is going to be with lots of surprises and am sure you all will be delighted to see what the surprise is all about”.
Interestingly Anderson was not the only contestant on probation. The previous week saw all the Contestants placed on the dreaded probation. Deinde Okubajo, Chike Osebuka Ezekpeazu, Oluchi Odii, Funmilayo Comfort Arewa, Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwumi and Pearl Awa-Agwu all escaped elimination, while Kumi Amma Korantema, Jeffrey Ufedo Akor, Stephen Sackitey Okletey Biqo, Joy Chukwuma and Emmanuel Amos Anderson had to sing their way to redemption.
Kumi was saved by the panel of Judges made up of Bibi Brew, Ade Bantu and Tee.y Mix while the Faculty members comprising Uncle Ben, Joke Silva and Dupe Ige saved Jeff. Joy on the other hand had her fellow contestants to thank for saving her from elimination leaving Biko and Anderson up for elimination.
As the show continues, followers will probably be asking if Anderson’s luck will still hold out, or will the young man’s dreams of fame and future be shattered?
Catch exciting episodes of MTN Project Fame from Monday to Friday between 6:00 and 9:00 pm on TVC, Sound City, ONTV, and Ultima owned TV station GET TV on Startimes.
