AZONTO

Azonto is a dance by "Fuse" and a music genre originating from Ghana. Azonto is known to have originated from a traditional dance called Kpanlogo from the coastal areas like Chorkor, James Town, La, Teshie, Nunguaand in the port town of Tema, all part of the Greater Accra Region.
The dance involves a set of hand movements that either mimic everyday activities or are meant to signal an often amusing intention. It begun with one or two step movements but has been advanced to more complex and almost acrobatic movements. Just like most African dances, knee bending and hip movements are elements to dancing it. Los Angeles - Justin Bieber has splashed out $850 000 on a house for his father.

The 19-year-old singer offered to fork out the lump sum on a plush property in Canada for his dad, Jeremy, and his half-sister Jazmyn, five, and three-year-old half-brother Jaxson, because he wanted to make sure they had a nice home.

A source told TMZ: "Justin wants to make sure his half-brother and half-sister are living in a really nice home, so he shelled out a cool $850k in cash for a five-bedroom cabin-style pad in Ontario, where they live with their dad."

A group of women held a protest in favour of aviation minister Stella Oduah on Thursday morning in Abuja.

The group consisting of middle-age to elderly women gathered together to show their support for the Aviation minister currently battling a multi-million naira corruption scandal.

The protesters carried placards with the saying “a fight against Stella Oduah is a fight against women”
Contrary to their claims, the small group of women only represented themselves and not all Nigerian women.

Sources claim most of these women are uneducated people paid to carry the placards.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has said it has no documents regarding the purchase of the two controversial armoured cars purpotedly bought for the use of the nation’s aviation industry.
NCAA’s position was contained in a three paragraph letter adressed to the Falana and Falana Chambers in response to the request by the law firm asking for detailed information about the purchase of the cars.

It will be recalled that Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, through one of his lawyers, had requested NCAA to furnish him with information regarding the purchase of the cars as well as such previous cars bought for such purposes in line with the FOI Act.

According to NCAA’s letter signed by its legal adviser, E. D. Chukwuma and dated October 23, 2013, with ref. No. NCAA/DG/F&F/Vol.11/2013/85, it stated that it was not in possesion of any document relating to the purchase of the armoured cars for the aviation minister.

Also the body disclosed that it has no information regarding records of previous armoured cars for the aviation ministry or its ministers.

The letter reads in part: “I am directed to refer to your letter dated October 21, 2013 on the above matter and to inform you that Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA is not in possesion of any document relating to the purchase of armoured cars for the Aviation Minister, Ms. Stella Oduah.”

“With the regard to your request for records of previous purchase of armoured cars by the aviation ministry or NCAA, I am to inform you that the NCAA does not have such records.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Falana has said he is determined to take further step to compel the Durector General of NCAA to tender the requested documents.

In a telephone interview with Vanguard, Falana said he will today (Monday) file a paper to the Attorney General of the Federation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC as well as the National Assembly which has commenced investigation into the matter.

According to him, the terse response from NCAA denied any document was repudiating the information earlier given at a press conference by the authority.

The House of Representatives is threatening to issue a bench warrant for the arrest of embattled Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, if, by Tuesday, she fails to appear before its Committee on Aviation.

Oduah had been summoned to answer questions on aviation related issues on the heels of the Associated Airlines plane crash last month.

The minister will obviously also respond to the lawmakers on the two controversial armoured BMW cars said to have been bought for her by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Oduah was, as at last night, in Israel to sign a Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA), alongside President Goodluck Jonathan, with Israeli officials.

“If she fails to show up (for the House Committee hearing), we will issue a bench warrant to get her arrested”, the House of Representatives, spokesman, Hon. Zakari Lafia Mohammed, said.
Mohammed, who spoke in an interview with Sunday Vanguard, went on: “This is a national issue that must be properly thrashed out with the zeal of a wounded lion. If need be, we will ask the Speaker to issue a bench warrant immediately she fails to show up and she will be arrested. We’ve given her enough grace as the committee will sit on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. All those excuses given on her behalf will not hold by the time we conclude our findings.”

Meanwhile, NCAA has said it followed due process in procuring the two armoured vehicles.

In its presentation to the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, the agency said:

“Procurement of operational vehicles is provided for in NCAA 2013 Budget on line 6, page 10 and is in line with NCAA Condition of Service”.

Thanks to his victory at the 2009 Hennessey Artistry where he came tops, Ice Prince has grown to be one of the hottest and most respected rappers in the country. And while it may all look rosy on the outside, Ice Prince has revealed that it's not been easy after his dad passed away, adding that just like any street kid, he had his own fair share of ups and downs, and so fans should not be carried away by the glitz and glamour which has become his trade mark today.

Though, born to upper middle class parents, the Oleku singer insists he was not born with a silver spoon, he and his siblings had all they desired until his dad died in 1999 and life took a dramatic turn.

"I wasn't born with a silver spoon, "Ice Prince told The Entertainers TONY OGAGA ERHARIEFE in an exclusive chat backstage during the 8th edition of Julius Agwu's comedy show, Crack Ya Ribs held at Nicon Hilton, Abuja, recently.

Dressed in all white designer T-shirt and pants with a muffler dangling around his neck, Ice Prince peered at you from behind designer glasses crested with a fez cap which gave him that clean cut look of an American marine but for his goatee.

"My dad was not a billionaire, neither was he a pauper, "he said arching his bushy eyebrows to drive home his point, "he sent us to good schools and we had vacations outside the country; we were okay but in 1999 I lost him

"It was a big loss for me and my family. I was 13 and the eldest kid; I had a mum and two younger sisters to look out for and so I had to grow up overnight; thank God for family support."

Recounting the person of his late dad who was a soldier in the Nigerian Army, Ice Prince described him as a great source of inspiration and like every son would say, his father was a great dad. He said dad went the extra mile to make sure he and his siblings had all they wanted.

"He was a soldier, "he states in his characteristic cool and calm voice, "he taught me everything I know today. My mum was very supportive but she died in 2011, so right now I am an orphan."

How does it feel losing both parents early in life? "it feels lonely We were three kids; a boy and two girls and I am the eldest. I became the man of the house after my dad passed on and that has given me a sense of responsibility. It made me grow up overnight

"I am 27 but my responsibilities are more than that of a 27-year-old. I have to take care of my sisters. I thank God for elevating me. I guess I was called to do this (music)."

According to Ice Prince, he would ever be grateful for the lessons he learnt from his parents, which have gone a long way in shaping him today. He says that while his dad taught him to be responsible right from an early age, his mum taught him to respect women. [ventnaija]

The Pop star had just wrapped up his thrilling performance at about 3:26AM when he asked his managerGodwin Tom to hand him two bale of N500 notes supposedly around the sum of N100,000. Wizkid then threw the money into the crowd and left the stage.

Wizzy and his entourage immediately left the venue without the knowledge of the near-disaster he had caused as fans in the crowded general public area proceeded to hound themselves over a few thousands of Naira. The fight for the N500 notes amongst the crowd couldn’t be controlled by the stage security. In fact security guards joined in the fight for the money.
