The importance of children in the African society/marriage cannot be overemphassised.In the African marriage a child is placed in high esteem even above the love that exists between husband and wife,no wonder,family,friends,well wishers and neighbours always look forward to being called back for naming ceremony,some months after the couple have signed the dotted lines,frustration,hostility and anger begin to set in some months if a lady does not consumate her marriage,some mothers in-law,sisters in-law even friends and neighbours would begin to make comments that if care is not taken might affect the couple{especially the wife}no wonder some couples {especially the wife}would do anything to have a child just to keep their marriage alive. A lot of marriages had broken down all in the name of the woman not having a child,a lot of people did a lot of horrible things,visited a lot of horrible places that ordinarilly they would not have gone,all in the name of having a child,it shows the importance of children in marriage. The question now is,WHAT WOULD YOU NOT DO JUST TO HAVE A CHILD?
