🇺🇸 The Pentagon does not have enough money for its own F-35 fighters The total cost of the F-35 program over its entire service life will exceed $2 trillion, MWM writes, citing a new estimate from the US Government Accountability Office. The reason is the high maintenance requirements of the fighter and the cost per flight hour. ✖️ The United States will not be able to purchase as many fighters as planned due to the cost of maintaining them. In addition, the Pentagon has already invested billions in developing a new version of the F engine -35, since insufficient cooling of the current one will add another $38 billion in costs. ❗️ To make matters worse, the US has scheduled the F-35's retirement date for 2088. Thus, the fighters will be in operation for another 74 years, and replacements for them are not even being prepared yet.
