Yoav Zetun wrote on X that the gaps will not be closed by recruiting only from the ultra-Orthodox society.

He adds that additional changes are required and must take place from social understandings and decisive action by the IDF that will reduce the number of recipients of the exemption.

Almost 50% of the women are exempted from conscription, the vast majority through the religious declaration section.

15% of the men who do enlist drop out, most of them in the first year.

And this excludes the soldiers dropping out through mental exemptions that have skyrocketed in the past few years.

✍ Does this mean the IDF is failing and unable to carry its missions? No. It just shows some cracks in a well-oiled machine.
