Family / How To Get The Best Out Of Your Family And Relationships by vicdonald: 6:11pm On Apr 29, 2017
According to Wikipedia Emotional Intelligence is the capability of individuals to recognize their own, and other people's emotions, to discern between different feelings and label them appropriately, to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and to manage and/or adjust emotions to adapt environments or achieve one's goal(s). Another person put it this way Emotional Intelligence, or emotional quotient (EQ), is defined as an individual's ability to identify, evaluate, control, and express emotions. People with high EQ usually make great leaders and team players because of their ability to understand, empathize, and connect with the people around them. IQ, or intelligence quotient, is score derived from one of several standardized tests designed to assess an individual's intelligence. IQ is used to determine academic abilities and identify individuals with off-the-chart intelligence or mental challenges. EQ is a better indicator of success in the workplace and is used to identify leaders, good team players, and people who best work by themselves. It is really no news that we humans make decisions based on our feelings. 80%-90% of the time we act based on how we feel at a giving point in time. Which is why advertisements that are emotion centered tend to succeed compared to adverts that are logical/reason based. Research has shown that the limbic part of our brain(which controls our emotions) are involved with most of the major decisions we take as opposed to our fore brain which controls all the logical thoughts we are involved in. The value of a high emotional intelligence is in the fact that you can make anybody do what you want with joy and gladness and they will not bother reasoning the difficulty of the task. High IQ may make people impressed with you but high EQ prompts/moves people to act based on what you want. People with high EQ usually thrive in relationships because of their ability to put themselves in other people's shoes.

To the individual emotional intelligence is invaluable. Those that have it in high levels tend to succeed better in relationships and life in general. They always get the best from those around them while those that have them as friends tend to perceive them as extremely loving and caring people. In life those with high EQ tend to make for better leaders the reason is that they can make their followers perform to the very fullest of their potentials.

The 21 century CEO can not afford to be high only on IQ rather he must possess also a high level of emotional intelligence. In fact a CEO with a low IQ and a high EQ will do better than a CEO with a high IQ and a low EQ. This is because the former will get the best out of his employees as opposed to the latter who may get the best only from himself. Today's business atmosphere is more competitive than it has ever been that is why cooperation's can not afford to get below best from their employees.

Technology Market / NCC Confirms Mtn's Payment Of Another 30 Billion Naira by vicdonald: 9:06am On Apr 27, 2017
Check out more exciting tech news here ____ https://www.victoritasblog.com
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the telecoms industry regulator, yesterday confirmed that MTN, on Thursday, paid additional N30 billion, being the third tranche payment of the N330 billion fine imposed on the telecoms company for refusal to deactivate 5.2 million unregistered SIM cards on its network.

Having paid N30 billion in December last year, after the initial deposit of N50 billion, making it N80 billon as at December last year, the current payment brings the total amount paid so far, to N110 billion, out of N330 billion.

Based on the enormity of the fine money, NCC, in collaboration with the federal government, spread the payment in six tranches, after the initial N50 billion was paid.

The first two tranches, which were December 2016 and March 2017 had been paid, which includes the recent payment. The other four tranches are March 31, 2018 (N55 billion); December 31, 2018 (N55 billion), March 31, 2019 (N55 billion) and May 31, 2019 (N55 billion).

Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Mr. Tony Ojobo, who confirmed the Thursday payment, said the money had been paid to NCC’ Treasury Single Account (TSA) with the Central Bank of Nigeria.

According to Ojobo, there was an agreement reached between NCC and MTN on the spread of payment of the fine money in tranches and MTN has kept to that agreement so far.

Head of Corporate Communications at MTN, Omasan Ogisi, also confirmed that another payment in respect to the fine, was recently paid.

NCC had in October 2015, fined MTN N1.04 trillion for its failure to disconnect 5.2 million improperly registered lines within the prescribed deadline. After much plea on the part of MTN management for a reduction in the fine, it was subsequently reduced by 25 per cent to N780 billion, an amount that MTN considered still inimical to the survival of its telecoms business.

MTN Nigeria subsequently sought judicial determination as a means of protecting the local ecosystems valued and supported by MTN’s business, but later withdrew the case and continued with its plea bargain, which eventually led to further reduction of the fine to N330 billion and the payment spread in six tranches.

MTN, which operates in 20 countries, had set aside $600 million last year to pay the fine.

Two months after making the first payment from the fine, MTN Group declared its first full-year loss, blaming it on the fine.

Negotiations on payment of the fine lasted eight months and saw both parties going in and out of the court.
