Broadway comes to Nigeria with "Oluronbi: The Musical", a theatrical extravaganza debuting at the AGIP Hall, MUSON, on September 19, 2009. Directed by Victor Eze-Okwuchukwu, and featuring a 50-man cast drawn from Nigeria's finest singers (Yinka Davies, Utibe Nganga, Omawumi, Waje, Nikki Laoye,Toba Gold) and actors (Ireti Doyle, Hafiz Oyetoro), the play tells the tale of a beautiful-but barren-queen who makes a deal with a powerful deity in return for the gift of childbirth, and then has to live with the consequences. It further photo frames the dilemma of any woman or young lady who does not really recognize or realize the strength in her WOMANHOOD.
With innovative dance performances (performed by the Ivory Ambassadors Troupe, and choreographed by Uche Onah of the famed Ijodee Dance Troupe), as well as spectacular costumes designed by the House of Odycee's Telema Batubo, and live (yes, LIVE!) vocal performances, "Oluronbi: The Musical" will be an experience like no other.
