Foreign Affairs / Re: Why are some Rejoicing Over Iran's Attack On Israel by victory36(m): 3:52pm On Apr 16
MrProlific95:
So things quickly escalated between Iran and Israel over the weekend with the former firing multiple ballistic missiles and UAVs towards Israel.

What I find more saddening about it is the fact that most Muslims on my WhatsApp status were celebrating it. Like Seriously !!!

Then I came to NL and most of them were in celebratory mood as well.

I am a Christian, I know Israel is not a Christian Nation, but I believe the Bible and as such I believe they are Gods chosen people who rejected God's only begotten son Jesus Christ.

Nonetheless, as a believer I cannot ever wish Evil to befall Israel neither will I tell Israel how to defend itself.

The Next world war will be a religious inclined war and not ideological.

A world War will affect everyone on earth including Nigeria. A war at this point in time will not even favour a Tinubu government that is still finding its feet.

I earnestly pray that Israel ATM will not retaliate for things to escalate further.

Politics / Re: Are You Willing To Pay N178,000 Monthly For A 24-hour Electricity Supply? by victory36(m): 6:55am On Apr 04
aieromon:

Let's look at the facts on ground.

House 1
Power load = 2000W
Average of 20hrs/day gives 600 hours in a 30 day calendar month.
Power consumption = 2kW * 600h = 1200kWh
Cost of power consumed = ₦225 * 1200 = ₦270,000

House 2
Power load = 2000W
Power is generated using a 2.5 kVA petrol generator. Running wattage is 2000W.
Fuel efficiency = 1.1litres/hour (15 litres in 14 hours at 50% load - generator will consume more if we increase the load but let us stick with this for the purpose of this comparison)
For House 2 to generate 600hrs in a month requires 660L of PMS.
At ₦560/litre, House 2 will spend a sum of ₦369,600 in an attempt to replicate power supply from DISCOs. Maintenance cost has not been factored in these calculations.

A lot of small scale businesses spend up to ₦178,000 monthly running petrol generators.

Power is not cheap!

power is not cheap but it isn't exclusively priced either🤷

Foreign Affairs / Re: New Argentine President Sells Jets, Slashes Expenses To Cub Argentina’s Inflatio by victory36(m): 10:41am On Dec 18, 2023
matify83:
If nigeria, with an inflation rate of about 28% is in such an economic mess. Then i wonder how an inflation rate of about 3800% would feel like.

Prices of goods and services may even change at the point of making payments.

Good move by president milie on the dollarization of the economy. Afterall, even all major would currencies are pegged to the dollar.

Countries with runaway inlation rates that have dollarized their economies like Zimbabwe, porto ricco, panama and equador to mention a few have seen RELATIVE economic stability compared to when they had their "worthless" currencies.

Curriously, Nigeria has unofficially been dollarized as some hotels, landlords, and even schools now charge and accept dollars in lieu of the plummeting Naira.
you're joking right?

They are Ikwerre.

Many tribes in Nigeria are like the Ikwerre, culturally influenced by the neighbouring big tribe.

An example are the Ogorri of Kogi state. The Ogorri have their own language and customs...yet many of them bear Yourba names..and can speak Yourba.

(Am aware of the great 'Are Ikwerere Igbos? debate...so don';t go there cheesy).
oga, they are igbos who are deceiving themselves

Main development points:
Employment
Poverty
Health
Education
Social Cohesion
Safety and Security
Good Governance

These are the author's basis of assessment.
Do they align with what you have up there?
does Nigeria have better safety/security or better employment rate or better governance and social cohesion than any of the countries listed above? I don't think so
