For a given random variable say X

moment generating function , (mgf)

for discrete case , having some density function , f(x)


mgf , m(t) = E[e^tx ] = £ e^tx * f(x) .


(£ : represents sigma. for summation )

& for continuous case ,

m(t)= $ e^tx *f(x) dx

over some given range space of X

($: represents integral sign ) .

bring up questions on it for more clarity & comprehension.
