Good post, people need to see this. For anyone who wants to do the same check before paying a dealer — it's free, no sign-up: put the VIN into cleaned.vin. It shows every Copart/IAAI auction the car went through, the hammer price, damage, title, mileage and the auction photos.

Example from today: a 2017 Lexus RX 350 AWD (VIN 2T2BZMCA0HC134207) sold at IAAI Louisville, Kentucky on 19 Oct 2026 for $6,000 to a buyer in Nigeria. Repaired cars aren't bad by themselves, but you should know what you're paying for. Ask the dealer for the VIN; if they won't give it, walk away.
