Hi,

You are simply updating your records with them, they don't require a new payment.

Just to clarify- does the AVITS page you have show the appointment coming up soon? If yes, then you have no issues.

Follow these steps:
1. Visit https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ to fill a new DS 160
2. Log into AVITs and create a support ticket to update your profile. Attach the confirmation page of the new DS 160 to your support ticket.
3. The support team will update it for you.

Note that you need about 3 working days for the change to reflect.

As for filling a new DS 160, if you have all the information you used in the past form, it makes things easy for you. Just replicate the form and update relevant details.

All the best with your application!

Oloyemeta:
Thank you for your quick response. Please does filling the knew form come with another payment? Just curious though. Also, can you guide me on how to fill the form? Because the old one was filled by the assistance of an agent which I don't know his whereabouts again. However, I have all my login details for the new usvisappt but I just need a little guide. Thank you.

Hi,

I suggest you raise this question on the French study visa page
https://www.nairaland.com/6821447/study-france-process-enquiries-thread/58

Talkiequeen:
Please for study visa;

My sponsor is my uncle who happens to be the chief consultant of a travelling agency, I hope it won't be an issue to the consular, although I have done an affidavit of sponsorship, and I have 70%of scholarship, he's just covering up for the remaining 30%
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by VisaZest: 10:48am On Jun 13, 2025
Hi,

Definitely fill a new form.

While the purpose of visit remains same, information such as your arrival date has changed. Also, confirm the contact details of the conference organisers and conference location and update if necessary. It's also possible and likely your income and other circumstances have changed. Your updated form should reflect this.

Finally, use a passport photo that is less than 6 months old.

All the best with your application!

Oloyemeta:
Please I need help and quick response on this. I applied for B1/B2 non- immigrant visa in June 11, 2023 to attend July yearly conference in the US in the same year but the nearest date I could get for the visa appointment at the US embassy was June 25, 2025 and I accepted without any attempt to reschedule the appointment because I believed I can attend the programme any year I wish. Now I am preparing for the appointment. My question is do I need to fill another DS 160 form because of the space in time?

Thank you in anticipation for your quick response.
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by VisaZest: 10:42am On Jun 13, 2025
Hi,

For your first question, I'm not sure why you want to set aside France. They have a relatively fast processing rate. Plus, if you're planning to apply yourself, France has one of the most active threads where you can get help from others. For frequent travellers which you qualify for, as at today, you should be able to get a late July appointment date.

Applying to Greece, follow these steps
https://www.mfa.gr/missionsabroad/en/nigeria-en/news/notice-for-visa-application.html

Applying to Norway, follow these steps
https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/nor/apply-visa

Note that France has submission in both Lagos and Abuja but Greece is in Abuja. Norway visa applications are processed in Nairobi Kenya even though you submit in either Lagos or Abuja

For your 2nd question, you can request for multiple entry but the length of the visa and frequency of entry they give you is at the discretion of the visa officer. Unlike UK where when you ask for 6 months and you are given 6 months if your application is successful.

Note that with a single entry visa, you can visit the multiple countries you want as far as you don't leave the Schengen area. Once you leave the Schengen area, a single visit is complete. i.e if you land in France and travel to Norway and then to Greece all within the same trip, it is considered a single entry.

All the best with your application

earthrealm:
, so planning a multi coutry trip intending to touch Paris, greece , norway.and 1 or 2 other schengen country...am a frequent traveller US,UK etc.
i have some questions.

1. which of the schengen countries is faster or easier to get visa, that way i focus on that country and not france.
2. am new to schengen visa - never applied before, and my trip is scheluded for about 10 days, can i apply for 3months multiple entry?

Hi,

Here's a response to your question. It's direct quote from the AVITS site. The visa fee is "Non-transferable to another application country - Once the visa application fee payment is completed in one country, you cannot use that payment to schedule an appointment in a different country. If you wish to reschedule your appointment in the same country, you may proceed without paying an additional fee within the rescheduling limits established by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, as indicated in usvisaappt.com."

Here's the link to read more https://www.usvisaappt.com/visa/page?country=NG&apiPageName=visaFees&locale=en

All the best!

Ahsad:
Hello everyone, I have a question and would really appreciate your guidance.

I recently applied for a U.S. Business Visa to attend a fully sponsored conference I was invited to. However, I haven’t been able to secure an interview date yet.

At the same time, I’ll be traveling to the UK early next month for another program. I’m wondering — is it possible to transfer or use the same visa application (and fee) to schedule an interview at the U.S. Embassy in the UK instead, since I’ll be there during the intended travel period for the U.S. event?

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi,

From a similar experience where the person collecting could not meet up with a scheduled appointment due to other commitments, we did not need to rebook. Walk into DHL with a printed copy of the expired appointment. Since you selected free pickup, OIS has likely transferred your passport to DHL.

Olaremy2k12:
I schedule passport pickup but I want to change or cancel the appointment and on the ois page I was told to enter the tracking number which I don't have. I did a mistake and close the confirmation page received after booking the appointment but the email confirmation i got doesn't include the tracking number. Please I need help on how to get the tracking number

Hi,

Usually, when you COMPLETE a DS-160 form and request the system should email you the confirmation page, you receive an email notifying you of a successful submission and also the confirmation page attached. You can start by checking your mail.

In addition, even after submitting, you should be able to retrieve the confirmation page using the DS 160 number, surname, year of birth and security question. As at tonight, I can retrieve a form I filled as far back as 2022.

In your scenario, is it possible you did not submit the form?

Not to worry though, IMMEDIATELY fill a new DS 160 and update on your AVITS profile. You still have a few days to your appointment so this shouldn't be an issue

All the best!

Hi,

Follow these steps to generate the number for payment:
1. Fill your DS 160 here- https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/
2. Create a profile on AVITS- https://www.usvisaappt.com/visaapplicantui/signup
3. From your dashboard, click on "create new"
4. Follow all prompts until you get to the payment page
5. On the payment page, the amentum number for payment will generated. This is what you will use to pay the bank

burgessdon:
Thank you so much for your response. I wanted to pay the visa fee at the bank last week, but I was told that I need to get my reference numbers first. Can you please explain how I can go about that? And the website. Thanks

Good Day.
Go and pay your visa fee. Its still possible because people around me both B1/B2 and F1 are still booking appointments. ** If the bank doesn't send you away and you are able to pay then you won't have issue. 👍

Hi,

While you do not need to present a hotel booking at your interview, since the dates are passed, I highly recommend you complete another DS 160. Bear in mind that it may take 2-3 business days for your new DS 160 number to reflect on your appointment so the earlier the better.

To update your DS 160, fill the new DS 160 then create a support ticket from your AVITS account and submit your new DS-160 confirmation page. As mentioned, ensure you allow enough time before your scheduled appointment.

chinelo5:
Good day all. I applied in April 2024 and my interview is on the 24th of June.
1. Do I have to fill another form, since the hotel booking (date) filled in 2024 is no longer valid.
2. I rescheduled the interview just once, from March 2026 to June 2025 (Abuja).
Now, each time I try to reschedule it shows "no active receipt found for this applicant". Has anyone experienced this?
My DS-160 and appointment letter have the same number, but it's been over a year, hence number 1 question.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by VisaZest: 12:35pm On May 30, 2025
Hi,

You cannot pay first. Before you can pay, you have to fill the DS 160 and go through certain steps on AVITS

Follow these steps to apply:
1. Fill your DS 160 here- https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/
2. Create a profile on AVITS- https://www.usvisaappt.com/visaapplicantui/signup
3. From your dashboard, click on "create new"
4. Follow all prompts until you get to the payment page
5. You have the option of USD payment or Naira payment
6. Once payment is made, you wait for some hours for it to reflect
7. After this, you can book your appointment

Note:
For payment, you can pay into First Bank by walking into a branch or pay online by transfer.

If you want to pay by card, it would have to be a USD card.

Even if you want to pay at the bank, you will still need to follow the steps above before you can arrive at the payment page and generate the necessary number which will be used to process your payment at the bank

Princkez:
good day, please do I fisrt pay for visa fee in the bank before filling the D160 form and AVITS form

Hello,

From my experience, having a relative in the US does not indicate your chances are slim. It can in fact improve your chances because you have a legitimate reason to visit the US.

Go ahead and apply and be truthful about the relatives you have in the US and their status.

Bear in mind that it is vital to demonstrate ties to Nigeria i.e. all visa applicants are assumed to have immigration intent and you more so because of your relative. The burden lies on you to show you have reasons to return home to Naija.

Good day everyone , pls I would like to ask a couple questions . Hello,

With the DS-160 and your appointment confirmation letter, you are all set. You don't need to fill any other form.

Be sure to confirm the DS-160 number on your appointment letter is the exact DS-160 you want the visa officer to evaluate for your application.

Agidipie:
I have applied for my visa 2 weeks back, printed my DS-160, scheduled my appointment. Is there any other form to fill apart from Ds-160 and appointment?

Hi,

Congratulations on crossing the first hurdle. I am sure you must be relieved that your appointment has now been scheduled.

You cannot correct an already submitted DS 160. You can only fill a fresh one and yes, you can use it for the same appointment.

To update your DS 160:
1. Fill a new DS 160
2. Login to your AVITS profile
3. Create a support ticket and upload the confirmation page of the new DS 160

Remember, your DS 160 and passport photograph needs to be 6 months or less at the time of your appointment. If your appointment is in October, then you need to refill the DS 160 sometime in or after April.

And i am glad to let you all know that i i have booked my appointment for October 6th, but i will still like to know if anyone can enlighten me on how to reschedule to get earlier date and also... i want to know if correction can be made on my DS160 or if i fill another DS160 can i still use it for this same appointment... huh

I will really appreciate if anyone can help or guild me through this...

Hi,

Did you track after you submitted last week and did it at any time move from application received to issued? If yes, then I would assume the info on OIS is correct. If you are not in a hurry to collect your passport, I would recommend you give it some days.

jokepearl:
Is it possible for OIS tracking to say your passport is ready for pickup but ceac still says application received ?

Hello,

I am assuming your dad has not paid. If that is so, click on cancel appointment request and you will be able to create a new appointment. If he has paid and you cancel, you will forfeit the money paid.

Hi,

I doubt that paying a new MRV fee will do you much good with getting dates. For physical interviews in Lagos, the earliest date is Feb 2026. This has been a pattern since last month (January 2025).

Please how do I pay another MRV fee from the avits website so that I can get more rescheduling times.. and hope my current date will remain same even when I purchase another MRV fee..

Hi,

If she is going visiting, she does not need medicals.

She should get ready for questions such as:
1. the address she is going in the US and who she is visiting (eg if she will be accommodated by loved ones)
2. how long she is going to spend in the US and her exact departure date
3. what activities she has planned while visiting

Eg I will be visiting my eldest daughter in Boston and spending 3 weeks with her. She intends to show me around her city and some popular tourists sites such as....
As much as possible, make sure her story tallies with what was in her application.

She should have the following ready, though they may not be requested for inspection:
1. Her return ticket
2. Proof of funds

These can be in electronic format eg flight ticket on her phone, a loaded bank card.

She will also complete a declaration form asking her to declare the amount of cash she is carrying (if it is above 10000USD) and if she is carrying agricultural produce. To avoid headaches, check for prohibited items eg beef products like pomo and she shouldn't bother carrying them.

Finally, a great tip- whenever she lands, right at the airport, she can connect to free wifi to keep in touch with whoever is picking her up from the airport.

Deziri20:
Hi all
Please my mum will be traveling next month for the first to the US and she will be going alone. Are there specific medicals she needs to do. Also the documents she might need to present at both entry and departure points. Thanks in anticipation

Hi,

You have a unique case and I can understand your confusion.

Did the VO say why they moved your appointment to Dakar?

If all your documents are bearing Gambia and they turned you back and asked you go to Senegal, they owe you an explanation and should take responsibility.

My suggestions:
1. Since you have mailed the Consulate in Gambia, wait on their reply. I am assuming you mailed ConsularBanjul@state.gov. You can also try mailing thegambia@usvisaappt.com and calling +220 4384443 or +1 734 274 5048 (from the U.S.). These are the contact details available on the US Visa appointment site for Gambia
2. Raise a support ticket on your AVITS profile
3. Try to reach them using the contact details in the screenshot attached

Give them a few working days to reply the mail and then send a followup.

Pavillon:
Pls has anyone experienced this kinda situation beofe. My F2 visa interview was scheduled today by 8am in Banjul, Gambia. My Ds 160, appointment letter and Receipt all showing Gambia as location of interview but on getting to meet the VO, I was told that my visa interview is to be done in Dakar, A neighboring country. I'm confused and devastated.
Has anyone experienced this before.. and what can I do.

Ive sent email to the consular here in Gambia but there's no response. Also the calls are not helping as the person answering the phone is not familiar with the process.

Can i just forget the MRV and reschedule another interview in Senegal then

Hi,

Your drop off should proceed as scheduled. My dad submitted successfully yesterday at OIS.

Zainm:
hello people, what is this news i am hearing about US Embassy suspending dropbox? I have a drop off in two weeks at the OIS. Is the information confirmed yet? What happens to IW waiting for drop off? Any useful information will be appreciated. Thank you.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by VisaZest:
Hi,

I don't think they officially removed it. I filled my dad's application in January, made payment, got interview waiver on AVITS and he submitted at OIS yesterday.

It's however worthy of note that the IW eligibility has been shortened from 48 months to 12 months i.e. for you to qualify for interview waiver, the visa must have expired within the last 12 months

Meduca:
IW is back.
