Obaseki mourns passing of Nigeria's first democratically elected female Senator, Sen. Franca Afegbua

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of former Senator who represented Bendel North Senatorial District of Old Bendel State and Nigeria's first democratically elected female Senator, Senator Franca Afegbua, who passed aged 79 years.

In a statement, the governor described Senator Afegbua as a "pace-setter, trail-blazer and visioner" who remains an inspiration for women in Nigeria and across Africa.

According to him, "I am saddened by the news of the passing of Nigeria's first democratically elected female Senator, who represented Bendel North Senatorial District of Old Bendel State.

"She was an entrepreneur who championed the cause of female representation in government and gender mainstreaming at a time when it was a herculean task. She was a trailblazer who deserves to be celebrated for her bravery and exemplary exploits."

The governor said the death of Senator Afegbua was a huge loss because she was an inspiration to young girls, who are in need of mentors.

Obaseki Reforms: Edo Refinery Orders 150,000 Barrels Of Crude To Meet Rising Demand For Products In Downstream Oil Sector

The Edo Refinery has placed an order for the supply of 150,000 barrels of crude from Decklar Resources Inc and Millennium Oil and Gas Company to meet the demand of its growing clientele base, as demand for its products spike in the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil industry.

The refinery was developed by the Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (ERPC) with support from the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led state government through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The crude is sourced from Oza Oil Field, which is operated by Decklar Resources Inc and Millenium Oil and Gas Company Limited.

The Edo Refinery is a 6,000bpd capacity plant, which is being expanded to 21,000bpd. The facility with its feedstock can produce 50 per cent of diesel (500,000 litres), 25 percent of naphtha (300,000 litres) and 20 percent of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) (200,000) litres.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Decklar Resources Inc., Sanmi Famuyide, in a statement, said “Decklar and Millenium are at an advanced stage of executing a new 150,000 bbls crude oil sale and purchase agreement with ERPC, which is expected to include terms for invoicing and payment after the delivery of each cargo of 10,000 bbls of crude oil.”

He added: “We are very pleased that payments for the sale of crude oil from the Oza field continue to be received. Deliveries to ERPC in Edo State are ongoing on a consistent basis, and the anticipated doubling of the contracted truck fleet is expected to enable the Company and our co-venturer Millenium to increase the volume and consistency of deliveries of oil to market.

“The additional trucking capacity is also expected to create opportunities for additional delivery of crude oil to other potential customers in the near term.”

Obaseki only opposed Naira swap extention in order to render looted funds useless as well as prevent vote buying...

I think you are either misinformed or you are simply playing politics.

Flashing back, (and these are all verifiable), when the CBN came up with its cashless economic policy, Governor Godwin Obaseki as an economist that abores loothing and promotes accountability in handling public funds, was quick to embrace the cashless policy. He spoke in its favour, but other governors, especially those from the rulling APC said nothing. They were probably not against looting of public funds. People like El-Rufai and Bello kept mute, while Obaseki matched words with action through eventual implimentation.

See..
https://tribuneonlineng.com/edo-goes-cashless-from-march-1st-as-obaseki-prohibits-use-of-cash/

Again, when the CBN first muted re-designing the Naira, Governor Godwin Obaseki as a seasoned economist, stood up to speak against it, saying it was purely political and had no econmic value, and won't put food on the table for the common man (we are seeing that now, or are we not?). But the CBN, through the APC government of the day, went ahead with the redsign and its staggerd implimentation. El-Rufai and other APC governors also kept mute and said nothing.

That policy that Obaseki opposed from day one is what has brought us to where we are today!

See...
https://punchng.com/cbn-naira-redesign-political-says-obaseki/

Going by all of the above, one can see that those that approached the highest court of the land to fight for Naira swap extention were in reality fighting for their personal interests and not for the masses as claimed. Afterall, we all heard stories of how some governors kept quantum of cash running into billions in their private vaults.

It is therefore not wrong if Governor Obaseki stood up to oppose such people claiming to be fighting for swap extention in the people's interest while in reality the fight was for theirselves. Obaseki only opposed swap extention in an effort to render looted funds useless, and also prevent vote buying, not to make the people suffer. But the 'bad guys' won.

And having gotten it their way through the Supreme Court, it is also not wrong if Governor Obaseki is now urging his people to accept the old notes to ease the stress they are passing through, for true governance is about the people. He cares for his people, and he respects the supremacy of the court too.

Finally, hold Dan Orbih responsible for any percieved 'rumblings' in Edo PDP and dont drag the governor into. Dan Orbih lives on anti-party activities. His anti-party moves will however not prevail against Governor Obaseki and his party, PDP. Godwin will still win! Edo people are with him. Just watch...

FreeStuffsNG:
He was one of the parochial governors who opposed the recirculation of old notes at the Supreme Court.

Right now he is about to lose again at the Edo House of Assembly election after his party PDP lost all its seats at National Assembly, he is now pitching tent to sound as if he feels the pains of the people..

I was shocked that despite the serious protest against the scarcity of naira notes leading to loss of lives in his Edo state, he still went to SC to oppose the yearnings of his people.

He destroyed PDP in Edo and that serves PDP right after their leaders allegedly sold their platform to him for N6 billion to fight his political benefactor, Adams Oshiomhole.
All of those who allegedly collected the bribe like Chief Dan Orbih and co are now political refugees.

Obaseki Meets Igbo Community In Benin, Urges Massive Turnout Ahead Of Assembly Polls

…Igbos assure support for PDP candidates

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, met with the Igbo community in Benin City, the Edo State capital, to canvass votes for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming House of Assembly elections.

Obaseki, at a one-day engagement with the Edo South Igbo Community, held at the Youth House, Benin City, hailed the Igbos for their continued support for his administration, promising to sustain reforms and projects to ensure better livelihoods for all Edo residents.

The governor said, “I am here because you have been a key component of our government. We have done so much with you and will do even more. However, with your support, we know that no one will be able to trouble us.

“This election is ours in Edo. We have to vote for those who will work for us. It is important because whatever the governor has to do needs the consent of the members of the House of Assembly.”

He further noted, “Last elections, you people gave me all the 24 seats of the House of Assembly though some, due to gullibility, absconded with godfathers. In the same light, I have come to solicit your votes again, to deliver the PDP candidates and not develop apathy towards the election due to the outcome of the presidential election on 25th February.

“It was clear that the massive turnout of voters in the presidential election was a revolution by the people to express the citizens' tiredness of the current state of things in the country. However, what happened in the election has created a problem for us in Nigeria but as the issue is still on, we are hoping that the desire of the people must come to fruition.”

“Let's not lament as the opportunity is in our hands. Let's prove to those who claim to have won the presidential election that Edo is different and Edo is PDP,” the governor charged.

Also speaking, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Oredo West, Amadasun Aisosa, noted, "This Saturday, vote PDP and I promise to always hold quarterly meetings to consult with you for a more robust representation. Let's disappoint the devices of the opposition who have already started devising ways to create turmoil in the government.”

Reacting on behalf of the Igbo Community, one of the Igbo leaders, Chief Samson Awiaka, hailed the governor for running an inclusive government, adding, "We have never, as an Igbo community in Edo, had it this good in years. Over seven Igbo persons have been appointed as Senior Special Assistants in your administration.

“You have brought massive development to the state, rebuilt and renovated the secretariat and restructured the civil service, and ensured speedy completion of various infrastructural projects, among others. You have assured us that we would not have any problem with security, so we will come out with our PVC, vote and deliver the PDP candidates.”

Oshiomhole has continued meeting with thugs, violent groups to disrupt March 11 polls – Edo govt alerts security agencies

The Edo State Government has alerted security agencies in the country of the plans and activities of former Governor of the State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to mobilise thugs to disrupt the Saturday, March 11 elections.

In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, said the government has received credible information of how the former governor has continued to go around communities with a history of violence to engage and mobilise violent thugs to disrupt the polls across the state.

According to him, “We are privy to information that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has been visiting communities across Benin City, where he has been engaging with the thugs in these communities. The brief, we understand, is for them to intimidate and unleash mayhem on voters so that the All Progressives Congress (APC) can proceed with their rigging as was done in the Presidential election.

“We are alerting the security agencies on these clandestine meetings that the former governor has been holding because it has the tendency to spiral into loss of lives as well as wanton destruction of property and chaos.

“It is therefore necessary for the security agencies to take note of the activities of the former governor and put him on their watchlist because his propensity for violence has been well advertised in the past.”

The governor’s aide noted that Edo people must be watchful and be wary of the antics of Oshiomhole, who has contracted thugs to disrupt the polls on Saturday, March 11, across the state.

IWD: Obaseki celebrates women, advocates more political roles

…charges voters to elect female candidates

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has hailed women for the significant role they play in societal development, lauding their concerted drive for success and impactful service while managing the multifaceted demands and expectations of contemporary society.

The governor said this in commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD), which is celebrated every March 8, by the United Nations and its sister agencies.

In a statement, Obaseki said women have proven to be excellent managers of men and resources over time, pulling their weight across various spheres of responsibilities, whether at the home front, in the larger society, or in building business conglomerates.

The governor noted that the theme for this year’s celebration, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,’ is apt, as it captures the state’s drive to promote the adoption of technology across the state with the government’s digital infrastructure project, which links the 18 local councils in the state with fibre-optic internet connectivity.

According to him, “As we mark International Women’s Day (IWD) today, we celebrate the impact that women have made across various areas of our national life as well as their unyielding drive to engender sustainable development despite the obstacles they are made to confront along the way.

“In Edo State, we have witnessed how women have played critical roles across different sectors of the state where they have been given the opportunity to serve the people. We have created access for women to prove themselves and they have proven us right time and again.”

He noted that four women would be on the ballot for the March 11 House of Assembly elections in Edo State, urging Edo people to vote them into office to have a good mix of male and female representatives to enhance inclusion and gender parity.

Obaseki visits markets, receives rousing welcome from traders, rallies support for PDP candidates ahead of Assembly polls

...Edo traders pledge support for PDP candidates

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday, visited major markets in the Benin metropolis where he received a rousing welcome from a mammoth crowd of traders, who pledged their support for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday, March 11 House of Assembly elections.

Some of the markets visited include the Uwelu and Evbareke Markets in Egor Local Government Area (LGA) and the Oba Market and Tyre Dealers Market, in Oredo LGA.

Addressing the traders, Obaseki said: “The election of Saturday, March 11, 2023, is our election in the State. My administration has been attending to roads, schools, healthcare, and electricity, and fighting land grabbers in various communities across the State. We can't do the road now at Evbareke because we need a drainage system first; we are working on that already.

“You need not make the mistake of voting for the wrong people as they will come into the system to disrupt our developmental strategy. They were there before but followed the instructions from their godfather as they didn't resume at the Assembly.”

He added, “They say they will impeach me when they come into the House.”

Expressing disappointment over the manipulation of the Presidential election, the governor further noted, "After the Saturday 25th February election, people got discouraged but I urge you to come out and vote en masse and prove the riggers wrong.

“They can't steal our votes at the center and still steal our votes in the State. They have started again to share money to their lions and tigers, empowering them to cause confusion in Edo. Please support the PDP in this election.”

On her part, the PDP candidate for the State House of Assembly Election, representing Egor Constituency, Natasha Irobosa Osawaru said, "This election is for Edo State House of Assembly. Governor Obaseki has done well for the State and I urge you all to come out en masse to vote for the PDP to enable us to support the governor to continue with his developmental strides in the State.”

Also, the Chairman of Uwelu Spare Parts Market, Osa Collins, while commending the governor’s achievements across various sectors of the state, noted, “I am happy you are here with us. We know all you have been doing in the aspects of education, and electricity, among others. I also believe that Natasha Irobosa Osawaru as a youth, can identify with and satisfy our yearnings, advocate for us, and change the narrative. So, we will all come out and vote for her.”

Chairman of Auto Spare Parts Dealers Association, Evbareke Market, Osamuyi Iyamu, on behalf of the traders, assured the governor of their support for the PDP in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections.

Edo People, Our Mumu Done Do!! We Must Reject Those Who Rejected Us!!!

Dear Edo people,

Do you remember your representatives at the Edo State House of Assembly who won seats to represent your constituency during the 2019 House of Assembly elections and absconded, denying you quality representation at the House?

Do you know that those same people are being repackaged and recycled by the APC to come a second time and deny you same representation?

Let me tell you exactly what happened.

Those self-serving and avaricious persons were mere puppets under the control of the Iyamho godfather who denied them the opportunity to be inaugurated for his own selfish and political reasons. Without considering the interest of the people who voted them into office and in a shocking display of disrespect for the law and their constituents, formed an illegal, parallel House of Assembly, and engaged in a senseless power tussle with the Governor. They never came back to be inaugurated, rather preferred to enjoy luxury and philandering at a popular hotel in Abuja, at the expense of their constituents.

Four years after, these same individuals have the audacity to come back to run for office on the orders of their godfather. Dem thin k say we be mumu abi? They believe they can flagrantly disregard us, deny us representation, and then return to contest elections when it suits them? No way! Our mumu done do!! We will reject them because they first rejected and abandoned us.

We cannot be deceived by their deceitful tactics and cowardice. We must vote against these APC candidates, who are nothing but mere puppets controlled by their godfathers. In fact, with their Lagos godfather, Tinubu, having manipulated his way to the presidency against the will of the people, their pride and ego will be like never before. We must never give them the opportunity to ridicule and fool us again. Let’s choose candidates who are ready and willing to serve. Let’s us vote for the PDP candidates in the upcoming House of Assembly election on March 11th.

The PDP candidates are passionate about Edo and its future. They are committed to fighting for the rights, freedoms, and dignity of every Edo citizen. They are respectful of the law and will work to implement policies that align with the will of the people.

We must never allow these selfish and corrupt politicians to win again. We must stand firm in our resolve to do what is right for Edo. Vote for the PDP candidates on March 11th, and let us collectively work towards a brighter future for our beloved state. Vote PDP, Vote Progress!!

APC, moving Old Naira notes around political wards for vote buying - Save Edo Group

A Socio Political group in Edo state, Save Edo has today raised alarm over APC’s plan to buy votes in the March 11th election. The group Secretary, Deacon Ehi Enojie said they have credible information that APC leadership in the state as at yesterday began plan to move old naira notes around the 192 wards of the state for vote buying. You would recall that the same old naira notes were ferried into the state in large trucks before the presidential election. Unfortunately, they couldn’t buy votes with them because of the naira cash swap policy by President Buhari. However, the reversal of the cash swap policy by the supreme court has further emboldened APC leaders, who have now moved the old naira notes to their various wards for vote buying.

We are using this opportunity to call on the security agencies to track down these monies wherever they maybe be hiding them. We also call on the Edo electorate to stand resolute and reject APC old naira notes and stay the course by voting for their preferred candidates in the forthcoming House of Assembly election. We also want to call on APC to turn a new leaf and desist from their usual habit of vote buying and allow the electorates to determine their future without any form of harassment and monetary inducement.

APC: YOU CAN'T EAT YOUR CAKE AND HAVE IT

Edo People! Let Us Reason Together!

Let's talk about the so-called "men" who won the election into the Edo State House of Assembly in 2019 under the APC. These spineless and gutless politicians were nothing but puppets controlled by their godfather, who ordered them not to be inaugurated.

But that wasn't enough for them. Oh no, they went even further and formed an illegal, parallel House of Assembly right in the living room of an APC leader, while fighting the Governor of the State. These cowards have absolutely no respect for the law, for their constituents, or for anyone but their godfather.

And now, unbelievably, some of them are running again on the orders of their godfather. Can you imagine the nerve of these people? They think they can just ignore the law, form their own government, and then come crawling back when it's convenient for them.

Well, Edo people, we will not be fooled by their lies and their cowardice. Don't vote for these puppets of the APC overlord. Instead, vote for the PDP candidates in the House of Assembly election on the 11th of March.

These are the candidates who actually care about you and your future. They are the candidates who will fight for your rights, your freedoms, and your dignity. They are the candidates who will respect the law and the will of the people.

The APC has built its political foundation on a web of lies and deceit. They have consistently demonstrated incompetence at all levels of governance, crumbling our economy and leaving our people to suffer in hunger and abject poverty.

Despite their failures, they have rigged their way, retaining power at the center against the will of millions of Nigerians, and just like they did in September 2020, the party is once again fighting for legitimacy in Edo State through the upcoming March 11 House of Assembly elections. But we are not worried because the Edo people have resoundingly rejected them before, and no amount of propaganda or disinformation can change that.

Dear Edo voters, will you choose retrogression over development on Saturday?

The progress that Edo State has made under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki is too valuable to be lost. The transformation that the state has undergone has been nothing short of remarkable, and it is vital that we sustain this progress.

Governor Obaseki's policies have brought about significant improvements in the areas of education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and security. He has shown that with the right leadership, Edo State can achieve great things.

But sustaining this progress requires the people of Edo to vote wisely and strategically in Saturday, March 11 House of Assembly elections. We must elect leaders and representatives who share Governor Obaseki's vision for a better tomorrow; those that are able to contribute effectively and build on the foundation that he has laid.

We must not allow the progress that we have made to be undone by those who seek to take us back to the days of hooliganism and chaos. We must not forget the dark times that we have emerged from and the hard work that Governor Obaseki has put in to get us to where we are today.

Let us be more strategic! Let’s come out en masse on Saturday to vote for candidates of the PDP to sustain the progress and development in our dear State. Let us vote for a brighter future for Edo State, one that sustains the progress we have made and takes us to even greater heights.

A vote against PDP on Saturday, March 11, 2023 is a vote for retrogression in Edo. But we must choose progress!! Vote for progress, vote PDP!!!

Oshiomhole, Dan Orbih perfect plan to take over Esan land on Saturday Elections

Although they are from Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole and Dan Orbih who teamed up for the 2023 General Elections have boasted that they are set to take over and dominate Esan speaking Edo Central, claiming that since the region does not have any clear leaders they will assume leadership through some compromising esan figures in the state

They noted that just the same way they have manipulated some Edo South leaders by dangling some positions at them they will take esan land by promising them some juicy positions in Tinubu's government

According to sources close to the duo, they claim that the Esan people will be swayed if they are led to believe that with Oshiomhole and Dan Orbih on their side, the Esan Agenda is well and alive. They have held several meetings with some compromised Esan leaders and they seem to be at home with the proposal put before them.

However, Oshiomhole is not trusted by the Esan people but he has started to gradually, introduce them to Jagaban, Tinubu, to give them positions in Abuja. With good positions already on the table, these leaders are set to do Oshiomhole and Dan Orbih's bidding in Esan for many years to come thereby perfecting the capture of Esan people.

Whether Esan youths will follow this compromised leadership is something to watch out for in the days to come

Before Esans Forget So Quickly: Governor Obaseki Is Our Friend

By John Ewah

I have tried to ponder on the negative narrative being peddled and promoted by a few disgruntled persons who now claim to speak for the generality of the Esan People of Edo State, against Governor Godwin Obaseki. This pseudo-ethnic campaign narrative which may be likened to 'The Protocols of the Elders of Zion', fabricated without even an anomalous grain of truth, while at the same time, spinning a mountain-web of lies, is a deliberate misinformation and disinformation account concocted by political wanderers.

If we can remember vividly, it was an APC government, under the then leadership of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who attempted, howbeit fruitlessly, to dethrone one of our revered Monarchs in Esanland, His Royal Highness, the Onojie of Uromi, as a result of alleged political differences, during the 2016 election. It was Governor Godwin Obaseki, on his assumption of office as Governor of Edo State, even while he was still in APC, who reverted that suspension, thereby reinstating the Onojie to the hallowed throne of his forebears.

Unlike Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Obaseki understood that the sacrosanctity of our traditional institutions cannot be compromised and should be respected for its sacredness. The Governor understood that our Monarchs remain the indisputable custodians of our culture and traditions.

That will not be the only time Governor Obaseki has treated our traditional institutions in the state with the utmost respect they deserve. Even while a few persons kept peddling falsehood about some minor disagreement between the Governor and the Benin Royal Palace, the Governor issued a statement restraining all his followers and aids from engaging anyone on the issue or saying anything negative against the highly revered, respected and ancient Palace of Benin Kingdom, which is and remains an institution of pride to all the people of Edo State.

Cases abound where the Governor has time and again given due regards to our traditional institutions; and the Esans must not forget so soon, the humiliation the Adam Oshiomhole-led APC government, intended to mete out against the people of Esanland by such ignoble action against the Royal Palace of Uromi. Thanks to Governor Obaseki, the attempt failed.

It was Governor Godwin Obaseki who together with other well-meaning Edo people, made the case to the federal government of Nigeria, that our very own hero, the late Prof. Ambrose Alli, a former Governor of Bendel State who the then General Buhari administration erroneously arrested and convicted, be granted a Presidential pardon post mortem, in order to have the vexatious title of 'ex convict' expelled from his name. The president granted that request and the Governor on a yearly basis participate actively in the celebration of the Prof. Ambrose Alli Day.

In honour of our very own Ambrose Alli, Governor Godwin Obaseki is transforming the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma, into a world class citadel of learning, through various institutional reforms initiatives, infrastructural interventions and tech innovations.

We, as Esan People cannot be fighting against a friend of Esanland in the person of Obaseki, to support or vote for Oshiomhole-chosen APC candidates. It would be a great disservice and an insult to the memory of the Late Chief Anthony Enahoro and the Late Chief Tony Anenih and other Esan greats, who have paid enormous sacrifices towards the development of Esanland.

The Late Chief Tony Anenih would turn in his grave to see that the PDP he spent his years building in Esanland is being betrayed by those who have reaped the fruits of the party for years. Anenih would never have gone with such a plan. He would have thrown his weight behind Governor Obaseki and the PDP to ensure that the House of Assembly seats in Esanland are delivered for the PDP.

We cannot as a people be fighting for the Esan Agenda and vote against our own interest; we cannot be seen fighting against a Governor that is supposed to help us promote that agenda. We will be shooting our selves in the foot. It is time to tame our emotions and become strategic in our pursuit of power and the interest of Esan People.

Governor Obaseki, being a liberal administrator has given every ethnic group a chance in his government, including Esans. Esans hold juicy positions in his cabinet, from Commissioners, Special Advisers, to Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants. Esans serve as MDs of many agencies in the State. How many of these benefits, including diverse Infrastructural interventions in Esanland can one really relay in a short treatise such as this.

This is a clarion call therefore to all well-meaning Esan People to ensure that they come out en masse and vote for PDP candidates for the House of Assembly elections in Esanland, on Saturday March 11, 2023, in order to ensure that these benefits do not elude us again.

The Esan Agenda, for those who truly want its realisation, deserves no less!
PoliticsEdo People Will Rise In Obaseki’s Defense, Foil Oshiomhole’s Plan For Impeachmen by VOICINGOUT(op): 3:45pm On Mar 05, 2023
Edo people will rise in Obaseki’s defense, foil Oshiomhole’s plan for impeachment

The recent statement by the former Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole on the fate of Governor Godwin Obaseki in the Edo State House of Assembly polls exposes his insidious plan to oust the current governor through impeachment.

We are, however, confident that, like it happened in 2020, when Edo people stood with the governor despite the bullying and intimidation by Oshiomhole and his paymasters, Edo people will again rise in defense of the governor at the polls on Saturday, March 11; vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and elect a House controlled by the PDP.

Obaseki has never placed his confidence in any man or godfather. He has placed his confidence in God and the people.

It is also curious that it is Oshiomhole who has come forward with the agenda of the APC and not any of the candidates. One wonders if Oshiomhole will be a member of the Edo State House of Assembly after the polls. This, obviously, points to who and where the instructions will be issued if the party’s candidates are mistakenly elected into the House.

Edo people can see the handwriting on the wall and we are certain that they will troop out en masse to vote candidates of the PDP in the election to sustain the developmental strides of the Governor Obaseki-led government.

PoliticsRe: Battle For The Soul Of Edo by VOICINGOUT: 11:54am On Mar 05, 2023
kelvinlion:
Dear fellow Edo people,

We are at a critical juncture in our state's history. We have a choice to make, one that will determine our future for years to come. We cannot afford to make the wrong decision.

The APC has shown time and time again that they do not have our best interests at heart. They have brought nothing but corruption, fraud, and mismanagement to our state. Their leader, Thief-nubu, the Jagabandit, is a symbol of everything that is wrong with Nigerian politics. We cannot allow them to take control of our state again.

Instead, we must choose candidates that we know and trust. The PDP candidates are our brothers and sisters, people who understand our needs and our struggles. They have a proven track record of service and are untainted by the filth of the APC.

We cannot allow our state to fall into the hands of looters and criminals. We need leaders who will work tirelessly to improve our lives, who will fight for our rights and our dignity, and who will put the interests of the people first.

So I urge you, my fellow Edo people, to vote wisely on March 11th. Vote for the PDP candidates for Edo State House of Assembly. They are the only ones who can deliver the change that we so desperately need.

Let us unite behind them and show the world that Edo is not for sale. Let us send a message to the APC and their cohorts that their time is up. We will not let them take us down a path of destruction and despair.

Together, we can build a better future for ourselves and for generations to come. Let us make the right choice and vote for the PDP. The future of Edo is in our hands.

PoliticsReject Apc, Edo Must Remain Liberated by VOICINGOUT(op): 9:14pm On Mar 04, 2023
REJECT APC, EDO MUST REMAIN LIBERATED

In 2020, #EdoNoBeLagos was one of the biggest trends on social media that even the world could not help but notice that something of great significance to the political climate in Nigeria was unfolding in Edo State.

In using a farcical election screening to frustrate Governor Obaseki out of the All Progressives Congress, masterminded by the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and party chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, little did they know that by victimizing the governor, they were making him more popular to Edo people.

By the time Obaseki cried out and revealed the reason he was treated unfairly by the APC, Edo people felt challenged and rose to his defence. As we have proven to the world time and time again, no slave master can control us as our independence is non-negotiable. The verdict was clear and final, Edo people rejected Tinubu and reinstalled Obaseki for a second term under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

But like thieves who are relentless in their unholy pursuits, Tinubu has once again proven to Nigerians and the global community his true colours by literally stealing the 2023 presidential election. Now he is ready to consolidate on his stolen laurels by adding Edo to his fiefdom. That is why Edo people must reject him once again and remind him that we are ever ready to protect our liberty and independence.

Come March 11, 2023, we must vote en masse against the All Progressives Congress in the House of Assembly elections. By voting for the governor’s party, the PDP, we will be proving to Tinubu that we are bigger than him and his army of thieves, thugs and election riggers.

A vote for PDP House of Assembly candidates is beyond showing support to the governor or his party; it is a vote for our continued freedom, independence and liberty. Under no condition should we drop our guards and let Tinubu and Oshiomhole enslave us. We must reject Tinubu and the APC by voting strategically lest we inadvertently use our votes to lock ourselves to the shackles of the Jagaban.

PoliticsA Tale Of ‘the Good Old Days' And The Return Of Land Grabbers In Edo by VOICINGOUT(op): 8:26pm On Mar 04, 2023
A tale of ‘the good old days' and the return of land grabbers in Edo

In the mid-2000s, in one of the communities at the hinterlands of Benin City, around the Ekenwan Road axis was a man in his early 70s, who lived alone, having been separated from his wife and children.

He was a peace-loving man who was somewhat of an introvert and lived harmoniously with other members of the community for years. He was loved by all for his kind nature and love for others. But his only sin as it later turned out was that he worked very hard and bought a sizeable piece of land within which he had built a portable bungalow.

A popular land grabber within his community had set his eyes on this piece of land and made several entreaties to the old man to sell same. But the man refused, insisting that it was the only legacy he had for his children, who had largely grown up with their mum in a faraway city without him.

Unfortunately and unknown to the Epa, the land grabber wasn't going to take no for an answer. On one quiet hot afternoon, the land grabber went stealthily to the old man's house with some of his goons, brutally murdered him, and celebrated their evil act by joyriding around the community. After the celebration, they buried the old man in a shallow grave in the nearby woods, and the land was subsequently cut into different sizes and sold to various willing buyers.

Words later got to the man’s children but justice was never served. It wasn't until years later when some suspected cultists were caught and interrogated during a cult war by the police that one of the land grabber’s accomplices confessed to the police and led them to where the old man was buried.

Stories like this abound and are rife. Most of us were witnesses or at least heard of such heinous acts that became commonplace in Edo State between 1999 and about 2017 before Governor Obaseki became the state's helmsman.

This dear #Edolites, was the Edo State Governor Obaseki inherited. There can be no gainsaying that we have come a long way since then. The crime rate in Edo has dropped significantly and the activities of land grabbers have been largely checked. The real estate sector has seen a boom that is now attracting investors from all parts of the globe and Edos in the Diaspora are once again buoyed to return home to invest in the sector.

But this is not the end of the story. As we speak, the evil ones who have been very displeased with Governor Obaseki for his positive reforms and who find themselves tottering at the brinks of bankruptcy, as they possess no other skill sets than a dexterity for malfeasance, are presently warming up to return to the corridors of power. With Tinubu's unjust emergence as the winner of the just-concluded presidential elections and of their local godfather, Oshiomhole winning his Senatorial bid election, they find themselves waiting with bated breaths for a possible return to the streets of Benin City and this time, with renewed vengeance.

All that can stop them now is ‘WE, THE PEOPLE.’ We must stop them with our votes come Saturday, March 11, 2023, by voting for the PDP. A vote for any other party would tactically be a vote for the APC. APC must not be allowed to gain a foothold in the Edo State House of Assembly. As thieves, they come with no good intentions but to steal, kill, and destroy.

A word they say is enough for the wise. We have been sufficiently warned.
