No harms in giving it a trial. Being familiar with the interviews and stuffs could be of advantage when you're finally good to go.

From my personal experiences, none of the care homes specified IELTS VI or general.
This is one example I've copied and pasted "Can you provide either a OET or a IELTS certificate". I may be wrong, but none ever specified among at least 4 experiences.
