Baghdad (AFP) - Nadia Murad survived the worst cruelties inflicted on her people, the Yazidis of Iraq, before becoming a global champion of their cause and winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

On Friday, Murad and Congolese doctor Denis Mukwege were jointly awarded the prize for their "efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war," Nobel committee chairwoman Berit Reiss-Andersen said in unveiling the winners in Oslo.

The 25-year-old Murad, her thin, pale face framed by her long brown hair, becomes the first Iraqi to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

She once lived a quiet life in her village in the mountainous Yazidi stronghold of Sinjar in northern Iraq, close to the border with Syria.

But when the so-called Islamic State jihadist group stormed across swathes of the two countries in 2014, her fate changed forever and her nightmare began.

One day in August that year, pick-up trucks bearing the black flag of the jihadists swept into her village, Kocho.

IS fighters set about killing the men, taking children captive to train them as fighters and condemning thousands of women to a life of forced labour and sexual slavery.

Today, Murad and her friend Lamia Haji Bashar, joint recipients of the EU's 2016 Sakharov human rights prize, continue the fight for the 3,000 Yazidis who remain missing, presumed still in captivity.

IS fighters wanted "to take our honour, but they lost their honour," said Murad, now a United Nations goodwill ambassador for survivors of human trafficking.

It is an evil she personally experienced during a harrowing three months.

After being captured by IS fighters, Murad was taken by force to Mosul, the de facto "capital" of the IS's self-declared caliphate.

During her ordeal she was held captive and repeatedly gang-raped, tortured and beaten.

The jihadists organised slave markets for selling off the women and girls, and Yazidi women were forced to renounce their religion.

- Seen as heretics -

For the jihadists, with their ultra-strict interpretation of Islam, the Yazidis are seen as heretics.

The Kurdish-speaking community follows an ancient religion, revering a single God and the "leader of the angels", represented by a peacock.

Like thousands of Yazidis, Murad was forcibly married to a jihadist, beaten and forced to wear makeup and tight clothes -- an experience she later related in front of the United Nations Security Council.

"The first thing they did was they forced us to convert to Islam," Murad told AFP in 2016.

Shocked by the violence, Murad set about trying to escape, and managed to flee with the help of a Muslim family from Mosul.

Armed with false identity papers, she managed to cross the few dozen kilometres (miles) to Iraqi Kurdistan, joining crowds of other displaced Yazidis in camps.

There, she learnt that six of her brothers and her mother had been killed.

With the help of an organisation that assists Yazidis, she joined her sister in Germany, where she lives today.

She has since dedicated herself to what she calls "our peoples' fight", becoming a well-known spokeswoman even before the #MeToo movement swept the world.

Announcing Friday's award, Nobel committee chairwoman Reiss-Andersen said: "A more peaceful world can only be achieved if women and their fundamental rights and security are recognised and protected in war."

The Yazidis numbered around 550,000 in Iraq before 2014, but some 100,000 have since left the country.

Many others have fled and remain in Iraqi Kurdistan, reluctant to return to their traditional lands.

Slight, and softly-spoken Murad has now become a global voice, campaigning for justice for her people and for the acts committed by the jihadists to be recognised internationally as genocide.

And she and the Yazidis have won a high-profile supporter -- Lebanese-British lawyer and rights activist Amal Clooney, who also penned the foreword to Murad's book, "The Last Girl", published in 2017.

The same year, the UN Security Council committed to helping Iraq gather evidence of IS crimes.

Yet in contrast to all the tragedies that have befallen her, recent pictures on Murad's Twitter feed show happier times.

In August, she announced her engagement to fellow Yazidi activist Abid Shamdeen.

"The struggle of our people brought us together & we will continue this path together," she wrote.

Underneath, a photo showed her next to a young man in a bow tie, her face still framed by her long brown hair, but this time, bearing a broad smile.

Although most are unaware, probably the most prevalent way sex is used is that it is used as a weapon of control and manipulation more often than not at a nonconscious level. Many individuals may feel that they would never attempt to use sex for manipulation and control. But if one looks carefully, most social customs around sex use sex as a way of controlling the member of its population. In fact, if we look carefully, we will see it is probably used socially more often as a weapon of control and manipulation than it is used to procreate children. There is no judgment or criticism meant in this statement. Rather, it is about looking carefully how the creative power of sexuality is controlled and/or manipulated by people individually and collectively. Given the creative power in sexuality it is only nature that society would desire to use it for its own ends.

The depth and breadth of how sex us used as a weapon of control and manipulation is tremendously vast and can be done at two levels - the individual level and the social level. Additionally, it can be uses as a weapon of manipulation and control overtly or covertly, consciously or nonconsciously. There are a tremendous number of ways in which sex can be used as a weapon of control and manipulation. This discussion can only serve to bring the focus of our attention and awareness as to the existence of this issue. We each will need to explore our own life to see how it has been or is being used on us, and how we have or are using it to get what we desire.

The bottom line on sexual manipulation and control (Top)

Although there permutations and combinations of ways that sex can be used for manipulation and control is extremely vast, what needs to be said and understood can be condenses into a few simply statements. The following few statements will provide you with the clearest indication as to whether or not sex is being used in some way to manipulate and control in the situation you face.

The key to understanding sex as a weapon of manipulation and control is to understand and look at the freedom of the creative spirit of both individuals. Not one or the other but both. The bottom line is whether or not the creative spirit of each individual experiences greater freedom and an expansion as a result of the sexual interaction and/or what we think and believe about sex. Or, does the sexual interaction and/or what we think and believe in some way cause us to shrink, withdraw from engaging life, and/or somehow become less because of the sexual interaction and/or what we think and believe about sex. Alternatively said, does the sexual experience and what we think and believe about sex hold the creativity of both individual’s sacred and allow for and expansion of each into the fullness of being.

Whenever sex is being used in a way that causes the creative spirit of oneself or another to shrink and/or withdraw from engaging in life is most probably an excellent indicator that sex is being used consciously or nonconsciously as a weapon of control and/or manipulation.

It does need to be noted here that the word sex as used here is not just about physical intimacy. It includes what we think and believe about the masculine and feminine and what it means to be a male and female. It also includes, how what we believe is influencing our thinking and how we approach life and our relationships.

It is probably very clear and obvious that sex is a very strong drive in human beings. The strength of the drive may change over life, but it is nevertheless present in most individual throughout most of our life. Additionally, the experiences we have around sex early in life (not engaging in sex but just being exposed to actions, thinking or beliefs about sex) have a tremendous influence on how we use it and respond to it in our life. Because it is such a strong influence throughout our life there are many ways that it can be used to influence, manipulate and/or control.

Sex is ultimately a tool. It can be used for procreation, recreation, creation, awakening and transformation, going to sleep and becoming unaware, and as weapon of control and manipulation. Unless we understand and work with the flow of energy behind sexuality the sexuality we feel, we will not see how to effectively to use it as a tool other than for control and manipulation which is the way it is most currently used it and the way most are nonconsciously taught to use it.

The essence of sexuality as a weapon of control and manipulation is that the masculine and feminine aspects of being and the masculine and feminine aspects of the creative process each have a natural "draw" or pull for each other within their essence. Control and manipulation begins when mind steps in and uses this natural draw in some way to achieve its ends. As a tool of control and manipulation, sexual favors are suggested or given only as an enticement to get what an individual wants of the other. They are use to get an individual to give what the other desires.

As the second most creative state sex is a very powerful two edge sword that can be seen as the metaphysical equivalent of nuclear energy. It can be used constructively or destructively. The space can be created such that the sexual experience is used as a vehicle to allow an individual to expand into the fullness of being, find and access their own truth, become aware of the awareness which lies in feeling, and move into the depth and breadth of their own inherent creativity.

Destructively, the depth and breadth of how sex is used as a weapon of control and manipulation is tremendously vast. The simplest way to understand the effects of it destructive use is that what it can cause spans a spectrum. It spans the spectrum from the free expression of our creative spirit to it becoming thwarted in its express to the point that is can essentially shrivel up and die. The different between manipulation and control is really only of degree.

Origins of the ability to control and manipulate with sex (Top)

To understand how sex can be used as a weapon of control and manipulation, we need to remember how creation occurs. Consciousness separates into an observer and an observe within a context of observation. In this separation there is the desire. The desire is reflected in the longing within each part to reunite into wholeness. It is the natural ebb and flow of the creative cycle. To resist this longing and/or to deny the desire in any way forces creation to remain in the form in which it was created. When we hold to the existing creation with our attachment, we do not allow the unfettered ebb and flow of Creation. Rather we create the illusion with our attachments that there is a created form that is real and does not dissolve back into no-thing-ness. Release the attachment and the form dissolves and the energy flows back to the Source.

To act partially on the desire does not allow for the complete annihilation of the creation and dissipation of the energy allowing us to move back into free flow of energy. In dong so we experience the and oneness and find that Heaven or Nirvana here and now. Only a complete surrender to the flow of energy created by the longing within will we reunite the observer and the observed in oneness. Whether one is male or female, it is the masculine aspect of being that chooses to act on the desire and thrusts itself into the merging process. The feminine aspect of one’s being, in turn needs to surrender to the desire for it will nourish and sustain the new creation.

However, the masculine cannot thrust if there are attachments that holds the existing creation or if the masculine has been somehow castrated and unable to thrust outward. Similarly, if the feminine is attached to the existing creation in some way and/or she feels that she is not in a safe and secure space and adequately protected space to give herself to nourish and sustain the new creation, the feminine cannot fully surrender and sacrifice herself to a new creation as required by the creation process. If the feminine perceives itself to be unsafe, it cannot act and if it does act, it will do so only to the limit that it feels safe. If the masculine cannot fully thrust itself into the feminine for whatever reason, the necessary annihilation cannot occur to release the bound energy to become free from the existing creation. If the feminine is unwilling to move and flow in response to the thrust, the masculine cannot move, the masculine cannot act.

It is these inherent roles of the masculine and feminine aspects of being and the need for the energy between the masculine and feminine to flow freely that become the basis of control and manipulation. Quite simply, the masculine and/or feminine aspect of our being is enticed in some way to attach itself as a result of the conscious or nonconscious intentional actions of another.

The masculine aspect of our being must be willing to give up all attachments and surrender totally to the longing within its being if it is going to return to oneness. Whatever cannot be released will limit the return and one can move only to the extent they are free of attachments. The mind is what determines what attachments exists and how far the masculine can surrender to the longing within. It is a simply matter to get mind to think a particular action, object or individual will give them the freedom and feelings it desires. Mind only needs to believe something external to itself will satisfy what needs to come from within to become attached.

If mind does not get what it believes should be giving what it desire externally, it will still will remain rigidly fixed and attached externally believing it is not doing what it should be doing correctly. It will continue looking to "do it right" to get what it desires to have. Mind will tend to exhaust all possibilities before it believes what it is attempting to doing is not correct.

Similarly, the feminine, in turn, will only move to the extent it feels safe and secure and will limit the thrust of the masculine only to the level of her own freedom and/or feeling of security. If the masculine can fully let go off all control and the feminine feels totally safe, she will return to oneness and a new creation will emerge. It is tremendously easy for the masculine to control the feminine by creating a space such that the feminine aspect feels safe and secure. When the feminine moves into that space, the masculine simply manipulates what cause the feminine to feel safe to control it such that the masculine get what it desires. The masculine, through the mind, controls the feminine aspect to use it for its purposes.

The feminine, in turn, can control the masculine by choosing what it will need to feel safe. It doesn’t matter if what the feminine choose really makes it feel safe or is only what it tells the masculine. What is important here is that the feminine determines under what conditions it will move. Until the masculine gives the feminine what it needs, it does not allow the masculine to act. In this regard, the feminine is really more powerful than the masculine for the feminine is what draws the masculine out and provides it the freedom of movement. It needs to be remembered, the feminine is what nurtures a creation. Without the feminine to nurture a creation, the creation will cease. Hence the masculine needs the feminine to get what it desires.

When Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. visited Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute last month, he was asked a startling question, one with overtones of science fiction.

“Can you foresee a day,” asked Shirley Ann Jackson, president of the college in upstate New York, “when smart machines, driven with artificial intelligences, will assist with courtroom fact-finding or, more controversially even, judicial decision-making?”

The chief justice’s answer was more surprising than the question. “It’s a day that’s here,” he said, “and it’s putting a significant strain on how the judiciary goes about doing things.”

He may have been thinking about the case of a Wisconsin man, Eric L. Loomis, who was sentenced to six years in prison based in part on a private company’s proprietary software. Mr. Loomis says his right to due process was violated by a judge’s consideration of a report generated by the software’s secret algorithm, one Mr. Loomis was unable to inspect or challenge.

In March, in a signal that the justices were intrigued by Mr. Loomis’s case, they asked the federal government to file a friend-of-the-court brief offering its views on whether the court should hear his appeal.

The report in Mr. Loomis’s case was produced by a product called Compas, sold by Northpointe Inc. It included a series of bar charts that assessed the risk that Mr. Loomis would commit more crimes.

The Compas report, a prosecutor told the trial judge, showed “a high risk of violence, high risk of recidivism, high pretrial risk.” The judge agreed, telling Mr. Loomis that “you’re identified, through the Compas assessment, as an individual who is a high risk to the community.”

The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled against Mr. Loomis. The report added valuable information, it said, and Mr. Loomis would have gotten the same sentence based solely on the usual factors, including his crime — fleeing the police in a car — and his criminal history.

At the same time, the court seemed uneasy with using a secret algorithm to send a man to prison. Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, writing for the court, discussed, for instance, a report from ProPublica about Compas that concluded that black defendants in Broward County, Fla., “were far more likely than white defendants to be incorrectly judged to be at a higher rate of recidivism.”

Justice Bradley noted that Northpointe had disputed the analysis. Still, she wrote, “this study and others raise concerns regarding how a Compas assessment’s risk factors correlate with race.”

In the end, though, Justice Bradley allowed sentencing judges to use Compas. They must take account of the algorithm’s limitations and the secrecy surrounding it, she wrote, but said the software could be helpful “in providing the sentencing court with as much information as possible in order to arrive at an individualized sentence.”

Justice Bradley made Compas’s role in sentencing sound like the consideration of race in a selective university’s holistic admissions program. It could be one factor among many, she wrote, but not the determinative one.

In urging the United States Supreme Court not to hear the case, Wisconsin’s attorney general, Brad D. Schimel, seemed to acknowledge that the questions in the case were substantial ones. But he said the justices should not move too fast.

“The use of risk assessments by sentencing courts is a novel issue, which needs time for further percolation,” Mr. Schimel wrote.

He added that Mr. Loomis “was free to question the assessment and explain its possible flaws.” But it is a little hard to see how he could do that without access to the algorithm itself.

The company that markets Compas says its formula is a trade secret.

“The key to our product is the algorithms, and they’re proprietary,” one of its executives said last year. “We’ve created them, and we don’t release them because it’s certainly a core piece of our business.”

Compas and other products with similar algorithms play a role in many states’ criminal justice systems. “These proprietary techniques are used to set bail, determine sentences, and even contribute to determinations about guilt or innocence,” a report from the Electronic Privacy Information Center found. “Yet the inner workings of these tools are largely hidden from public view.”

In 1977, the Supreme Court ruled that a Florida man could not be condemned to die based on a sentencing report that contained confidential passages he was not allowed to see. The Supreme Court’s decision was fractured, and the controlling opinion appeared to say that the principle applied only in capital cases.

Mr. Schimel echoed that point and added that Mr. Loomis knew everything the court knew. Judges do not have access to the algorithm, either, he wrote.

There are good reasons to use data to ensure uniformity in sentencing. It is less clear that uniformity must come at the price of secrecy, particularly when the justification for secrecy is the protection of a private company’s profits. The government can surely develop its own algorithms and allow defense lawyers to evaluate them.

At Rensselaer last month, Chief Justice Roberts said that judges had work to do in an era of rapid change.

“The impact of technology has been across the board,” he said, “and we haven’t yet really absorbed how it’s going to change the way we do business.”

The Vancouver Police Department is implementing a city-wide "predictive policing" system that uses machine learning to prevent break-ins by predicting where they will occur before they happen — the first of its kind in Canada.

The system analyzes historical records of break-ins around the city and generates predictions about where break-ins are likely to occur over two-hour intervals, within either a 100- or 500-metre radius.

Police chief Adam Palmer said that, after a six-month pilot project in 2016, the system is now accessible to all officers via their cruisers' onboard computers, covering the entire city.

"Instead of officers just patrolling randomly throughout the neighbourhood, this will give them targeted areas it makes more sense to patrol in because there's a higher likelihood of crime to occur," Palmer said.
Up to 80 per cent accuracy, police say

Palmer said property crime is fairly common in Vancouver and has predictable patterns. For example, it usually spikes in the summer months, when people leave windows open and take vacations.

The system was piloted last summer during one of those expected spikes. Palmer said the project focused on areas south of Broadway, where residential break-ins are the most common.

Things got off to a slow start as the system familiarized itself with the data, and floundered in the fall due to unexpected data corruption.

But Special Const. Ryan Prox said the system reduced property crime by as much as 27 per cent in areas where it was tested, compared to the previous four years.

The accuracy of the system was also tested by having it generate predictions for a given day, and then watching to see what happened that day without acting on the predictions.

Palmer said the system was getting accuracy rates between 70 and 80 per cent.
Not like Minority Report

When a location is identified by the system, Palmer said officers can be deployed to patrol that location. Though he said a number of suspects were apprehended during the pilot project, he said the goal is mostly a highly visible police presence in the flagged locations.

"Quite often ... that visible presence will deter people from committing crimes [altogether]," Palmer said.

Though similar systems are used in the United States, Palmer said the system is the first of its kind in Canada, and was developed specifically for the VPD.

While the current focus is on residential break-ins, Palmer said the system could also be tweaked for use with car theft — though likely not with violent crime, which is far less predictable.

Palmer dismissed the inevitable comparison to the 2002 Tom Cruise film Minority Report, in which people are arrested to prevent them from committing crimes in the future.

"We're not targeting people, we're targeting locations," Palmer said. "There's nothing dark here."

Citizens on Patrol keep eyes and ears on the street

They don’t carry guns or apprehend suspects, but the 33 members of Troy Citizens on Patrol are putting a real dent in crime, police say.

Graduates of the Troy Citizens Police Academy, an eight-week program that explores all facets of police work, can join the Troy Citizens on Patrol after they complete about two hours of additional training, explained Troy police officer Janice Pokley, who coordinates the program, which began in 2011.

Those who attend the Troy Citizens Police Academy must successfully pass a background check.

“We already know these people,” Pokley said of the volunteers.

“Some volunteers do two hours a month, some do 20,” Pokley said. “We suggest five hours a month.”

Volunteers use their own vehicles and are given magnetic stickers to place on their vehicles while they are on patrol.

“We advise them on areas where crimes have occurred, descriptions of suspect vehicles and suspects,” Pokley said. “If they see anything, they call it in and report it. They’re extra eyes and ears on the street. We really feel they deter things.”

She noted that they patrol city parks and have seen young people disperse when they see the COPs.

“Residents like it,” Pokley said. “They (volunteers) go through the neighborhood, and the residents feel a sense of security.”

COPs also help in the front lobby of Troy Police Headquarters. They pitch in for the Troy police open house, the Police Memorial Day and Shop With a Cop, where police shop for Christmas gifts with disadvantaged youth.

COPs assisted in the Patrick Mikes Sr. murder investigation and went to Montrose County in August 2012 to help police search a cornfield for the body of the victim.

“We walked in the cornfields and looked in ditches,” said Conrad Kruzman, a retired school principal who has volunteered with COPs since it started. “We were very flattered to be asked to do that.”

He said he patrols from 14 Mile to Square Lake and Dequindre to Rochester two to three hours each week, 52 weeks a year. He also keeps an eye on Athens High School.

“I’ve been doing this for so many years that I know what looks suspicious. If I go through a neighborhood and see people walking in between houses, they’d better be wearing a badge. If I see people parked in a no parking zone or burning leaves, I report it. Our prime directive is to observe and report.

“They (police) encourage us to patrol with our windows down so we can hear what’s going on, like a loud party or drag racing,” Kruzman said.

Kruzman said he really feels like he is part of a team as a COP volunteer. He said the police arrive within two to three minutes of him calling in an incident.

COP volunteer John Avery was a member of the first Troy Police Academy.

“We are free to pick our own patrol areas, but a lot of us tend to patrol in areas near to our homes,” he said in an email. “Besides driving the main roads, most of us swing through the schools, parks, church lots, business lots, etc. Many times, the Troy Police Department will email a notice that some type of crime has been occurring in a certain area of the city and ask us to spend some patrol time in those areas.”

“As far as my favorite part of our duties, I would say that as a longtime Troy resident, having the opportunity to assist our Police Department in some ways is a great motivating factor,” he said. “The group of COP volunteers are a good group to work with, and all of us have the same goal of trying to help our Police Department continue to keep Troy one of the safest cities in the country.”

He said the program allows them to feel like they are a small part of the Police Department.

“This was a big factor in my participation. My grandfather was a part of the Detroit Police Department, my father was a Royal Oak Police officer and my youngest brother was a 29-year veteran of the Troy Police Department. After I retired from General Motors Design Center, I was looking for some volunteer opportunities, and when the COPs program came along, it made it possible for me to continue in a small way our family legacy of police work.”

The Troy police will offer the next Troy Citizens Police Academy in the fall of 2015.

Growing up, one of my favorite movies was Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report.

I was fascinated by the idea that a crime could be prevented before it occurred. More interesting to me at the time was the futuristic role that ‘super intelligent’ technology – something depicted as more sophisticated and advanced than humans – could play in doing this accurately.

Recently, the role that pre-crime and artificial intelligence can play in our world has been explored in episodes of the popular Netflix TV show Black Mirror, focusing on the debate between free will and determinism.

Working in counter-terrorism, I know that the use of artificial intelligence in the security space is fast becoming a reality. After all, decisions and choices previously made by humans are being increasingly delegated to algorithms, which can advise, and decide, how data is interpreted and what actions should result.

Take the example of new technology that can recognize not just our faces but also determine our mood and map our body language. Such systems can even tell a real smile from a fake one. Being able to utilize this in predicting the risk of a security threat in a crowded airport or train station, and prevent it from occurring, for example, would be useful. Some conversations I have had with individuals working in cyber-security indicate that it is already being done.

This immediately brings two concerns to mind. The first is the ability for technology to do this accurately. Like humans, technology is known to make mistakes, displaying unfair bias against people of color and women, for instance. Sometimes, this bias reflects input from the creators of such algorithms themselves. It would not just be unethical, but also unacceptable, for people to be disadvantaged in the application of these systems on a mass scale.

The second concern is on regulation and ethics. Research teams at MIT and Harvard are already looking into the fast-developing area of AI to map the boundaries within which sensitive but important data can be used. Who determines whether this technology can save lives, for example, versus the very real risk of veering into an Orwellian dystopia?

Take artificial intelligence systems that have the ability to predicate a crime based on an individual’s history, and their propensity to do harm. Pennsylvania could be one of the first states in the United States to base criminal sentences not just on the crimes people are convicted of, but also on whether they are deemed likely to commit additional crimes in the future. Statistically derived risk assessments – based on factors such as age, criminal record, and employment, will help judges determine which sentences to give. This would help reduce the cost of, and burden on, the prison system.

Risk assessments – which have existed for a long time - have been used in other areas such as the prevention of terrorism and child sexual exploitation. In the latter category, existing human systems are so overburdened that children are often overlooked, at grave risk to themselves. Human errors in the case work of the severely abused child Gabriel Fernandez contributed to his eventual death at the hands of his parents, and a serious inquest into the shortcomings of the County Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles. Using artificial intelligence in vulnerability assessments of children could aid overworked caseworkers and administrators and flag errors in existing systems.

However, such input must assist in alleviating the misguided and inconclusive evidence which leads to unfair outcomes, and not add to errors. The reduction in bias and discrimination will only be achieved if moral responsibility is input into machines: something which may be impossible. Humans must be able to feed into, and discuss, the moral costs and benefits of allowing artificial intelligence systems to map vulnerability assessments and their outcomes by thinking and acting as rationally as human beings. But as we know, human behavior is not the easiest to predict or map, and an entire stream of economics reveals that we often act in irrational ways.

This brings us to regulation. At the moment, AI research and development is still being undertaken by corporations and government bodies that are more visible to potential regulators. Therefore, corporations can be regulated using existing institutional structures. Many have argued, for example, that a key first step would be increasing the transparency and accountability of those who build the systems and processes.

While accountability can help us understand human biases, we also have an additional future problem. AI systems pose serious complications if they act outside the control of human beings. I would be interested to understand how such a control problem could be overcome and regulated if AI ‘super intelligence’ poses a danger of doing us harm.
