Terrorist group, Boko Haram on Thursday released a video of the abducted students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, crying for help.

In the video obtained by HumAngle, the boys said some of them had been killed and pleaded with the government to respond to the demands of the terrorists.

The students were abducted last Friday when gunmen invaded the school. One of the students said they were 520 in number but some of them were killed because the government sent troops to rescue them.

“Please help us. Tell the vigilantes and soldiers not to come around,” one of the boys in the video said. He urged the FG to settle amicably with their abductors and advised against the use of military force in rescuing them.

Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti, has opened up on the reason his father, Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti never gave him sound education.

He said Fela never sent him to school because he wanted to use him as an experiment, to prove that he could be successful without acquiring education.

He said this recently in an interview with presenters of Your View, an all-female talk show on TVC.

According to him, though Fela was great, he had his faults, one of which was his refusal to send him to school, an experiment he believes was very risky.

Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), has been extradited to Nigeria to face his ongoing money laundering trial after he jumped bail and was arrested in Niger Republic on Monday, November 30.

Award-winning Nigerian artist Reekado Banks has disclosed how he felt after his colleague Wizkid hurled insults at him on social media amid the EndSARS protest some weeks ago.

Recall that Reekado Banks took to Twitter on October 15 to announce the release of his new song which Wizkid featured on.

In reaction to the tweet, Wizkid referred to Reekado Banks as a fool and also asked him to delete the tweet. Reekado Banks, however, did not respond to him.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has restated the commitment of Federal Government to end the eight-month strike embarked on by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

He described as untrue, comments that government officials have been foot-draggers in the ongoing negotiations with the university lecturers because their children school abroad.

Ngige said, “I have three biological children in public schools. They are in public schools; they are not in private universities. Unlike ASUU members who have most of their children in private universities, three of mine are here. So, I am a very big stakeholder in the public tertiary school system.”

The minister, who spoke on an Arise TV interview monitored by The PUNCH, added, “So, when ASUU says politicians don’t care because they have taken their children abroad, Chris Ngige cares because my children are not abroad even though they have dual nationality – two of them have American citizenship; they can be in America but I choose them to be here with me.

“So, ASUU cannot accuse me of not being nationalistic enough. Anything that will help the university system here, I am in the forefront.”

The PUNCH had reported last Friday that the Federal Government accepted the demand by ASUU that the lecturers be exempted from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.

The government also offered to increase the Earned Allowances to university staff from N30 billion to N35b and the Revitalisation Fund from N20b to N25b.

The development came after weeks of negotiations and disagreements by the FG and ASUU, which proposed the University Transparency and Accountability Solution as its preferred payment platform.

Reading out the communique at the end of a seven-hour negotiation with ASUU members in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, had said the government also agreed to ASUU’s demand to pay their members’ salary arrears from February to June through the old salary payment platform, Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System.

Speaking further, Ngige expressed optimism that the lecturers will accept the new offer by the government. He urged ASUU to hasten consultations with its members so as to return to the negotiation table and conclude talks before Friday.

The breakthrough in negotiations is expected to end the eight-month strike embarked on by the university lecturers as parents and students wait on ASUU to call off the strike.

Moment doctors remove live fish from a fisherman's throat.

A fisherman nearly died last month after he had a fish stuck in his windpipe.

The bizarre accident left the fisherman with speaking difficulties and shortness of breath as he was rushed to the emergency room of a hospital in Beni Suef, Egypt.

When doctors examined him, they noticed a fish was stuck at the entrance to the trachea, leaving just enough space for a little air to get through and prevent the man from suffocating before even reaching the hospital.

The doctors performed an endoscopic surgery and managed to extract the fish, which was still alive, according to El-Ain.

On how the fish got there in the first place, the 40-year-old fisherman from the village of Snur, on the banks of the Nile, explained to doctors that he had just caught a small fish when he noticed that the line of another fishing rod was pulling.

In a bid not to let his second catch get away, he quickly put the first fish in his mouth so he could free up his hand

The live, slippery fish managed to wiggle its way out of the man’s bite and got stuck in his throat.
