Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, peeved at the substandard materials used in the construction of the General Hospital in Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, has revoked the N98 million contract, awarded to former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairman, Prince Solomon Aguele and ordered that money already paid for project be refunded to government coffers immediately.

The Governor who revoked the contract after inspecting the project, also told the supervising engineer to contact the contractor in his own interest to return the sum of N34 million being the total sum of money paid him since the contract was awarded.

The governor, who visited the site after a reception organized in his honour by the people of Ewohimi who are also his in-laws, wondered how people did shoddy jobs and the supervisory ministry issued bogus certificates for the completion of such jobs.
Incidentally, the contractor, Prince Aguele hails from Ewohimi. So also is the supervisor who said he graduated from the University of Benin Law Faculty.

An apparently furious Oshiomhole after examining the quality of materials used for the job, while speaking to the contractor and the supervisor thundered: “Even my grandfather’s family mud house is stronger than this and you people from this community are part of this fraud? Is this what you will do for a community like yours? What is your background; Lawyer? As a lawyer, you know the meaning of agreement and specification? If you do this for your community, what will you do for other community?
“Look at the poor job. Profit already built into it and you are part of this fraud? Ask the contractor to return the money; there is no compromise at all.”

While addressing the ministry engineer handling the project, the governor said: “Is this job ok by you? On what basis are you supervising this job? You can only remain at work if you earn it. I am ready to dismiss anybody who is not ready to work and engage competent hands who are ready to work.
“Is this thing ok, engineer?,” pointing and breaking pieces of block with his hands.

“Money is spent and building collapses. Have you not heard of collapsed building arising from substandard materials? Those bad days are gone now that I am the governor. Why do you people deceive the community? When did Aguele become civil engineer to design this project?
“If you want to do bad job go far; not in your community. Government has given you hospital, look at it now. Tell the contractor to return the money for this contract in his own interest”, the governor ordered.
According to him; “We intend to ensure that there is no reason why a man who steals a goat and a secondary pupil who robs another guy of N5000 is sent to Oko Prisons and those who stole N98 million in the name of executing project go free. They must be punished.

“And when we start punishing them, let nobody say we are persecuting them because each day people steal public funds and run away and nothing happens, they are encouraging other people to resort to more stealing.”

Commenting on the Ewohimi-Ewatto-Ohordua project executed by the Osunbor administration, the governor also disclosed that the sum of N620 million was already expended out of the N1.3 billion budgeted before it was abandoned.

“We have to measure this figure because sometimes only half of the truth is told to our people. If money is judiciously spent on projects beneficial to our people, some of the cries that are carefully and eloquently presented to us would have been addressed by now.”

I respect your Mum - but I am not sure the rationale for her to make that statement, and for you to come here to ask us. I can gladly sue you for deformation of character for Nigeria - why will you say it is against our culture to re paint houses? I think your Mum knows you are dumb, thats why she gave it to you just like you like it.

@micheli89, that is what i call her all the time. okay next time, i'll call her my girlfriend. does that satisfy u?

@Sapphic,

From what you are saying, it was a phone call and I am assuming that she called your phone and you passed the phone to your cousin. Why complain now?

I gave her a call that day, and since she was out of town, he said he wanted to say hello to her. Dats why i gave him the phone. It was when i heard him mention what he said that i later asked her and she said she told him so so and so.

And if it was his phone she called, how come they now have each others phone numbers?

they don't. i made sure of that right from the time she told me he was making passes and eyes at her.

Moreover, why did you not trash it out with your cousin when he went to her place after you told him not to?

First, i wasn't in town that day. i had travelled out of town, and i had told him NOT TO GO. Secondly, when i came back, i told him outright that i didn't like it, and he shouldn't try it again.

I believe that YOU are the problem. Take control of your relationship and cousin. . . so far there doesn't seem to be a problem, though from what you say, there is the potential for one to crop up

Thanks alot.
klassyguy:
Maybe if it were another doctor she told, i wouldn't have felt like that. like i said b4 i may be making a mountain out of a molehill. or maybe i should tell her that i didn't like it, or what do u guys think?

Maybe if you know this cousin of mine, u'll understand why i don't want him near my babe. He is the kind of guy that if i introduce him to a goat, so long as the thing is pretty, he'll want to have something with her. Besides he once told me of one other girl who, after spending so much money on her, refused to give him the goods. Till date he keeps on yabbing the chick. Deep down in my mind, i keep saying "serves you right."

If he cant do the time, then he shouldnt do the crime.

Instead of robbing a bank, he could have joined the lines of visa applicants at the various embassies. He could have hawked pure water or gala. He could have asked someone for assistance to go to university or a polytechnic (yes, there are people who help underpriviledged students in this way). He could have studied for his final exams.

Lots of options for someone who isnt an armed robber. People like him abroad are locked up without batting an eyelid. He should ask his mates in the US. Young black males exactly like him. Oyinbo no dey bashful when it comes to locking people up. Even Obama wouldnt hesitate to throw him in the cooler.
yes yes yes again.where did a small boy think he should get away with this. it is a free for all in nigeria. people are getting away with murder. it has got to stop. build more prison. kill some by firing squads and sanitize the land. na only dem no get work. olori buruku. oloshi alakori

He obviously is more concerned with her association with his cousin than his cousin with her.

We would all like to believe in happily ever after, one-man-woman/one-woman-man / honor, but that is not the case and most especially not in this time.

mikeansy,
if there is anything good that i have heard from you, it is, america is not nigeria, they have records.
when andy uba was caught in the usa on a money laundary case via the presidential jet, america was nigeria.
sometimes i feel like knowing the age of people here. how do you think big politicians as to the rank of a president will give his account for such transaction.
the only truth is to trace further transfers from the initial account and then bring the people involved for questioning.
will it sound good if at the end of the day obj signed the contract and atiku will go and collect bribe?
by the way, obj is still in charge and all other cases that went against him just died without resurection till date.
many orgs in nigeria have in the past pettitioned efcc and other corruption fighting bodies on the ill gotten wealth of obj.
anyways, let us wait for the rest of the news that is if the case will not die just like that.
one of the fews things i have learnt here is how easily people change their views
