chamboi1:Talking about double standards. People are quick to exonerate the Governor of Lagos state from the event of 20/10/20 at the Lekki toll gate but somehow expect a former Governor of a state to produce or talk about a certain CSP Okafor. |
LAGOS GUBER: IGBOS VS YORUBAS or APC VS THE PEOPLE? Every election cycle in Lagos state, the ruling APC embarks on a propaganda mission aimed at driving a wedge between the Igbos and Yorubas by concoction of barefaced falsehoods, distortion of facts, blanket profiling, self-induced parochialism and propagation of baseless innuendos. The regurgitation of these allegations that the Igbos are either hell-bent on altering the dynamics of political leadership in the state by always voting against the established APC pattern or simply on a quest to annex the state can best be described as deliberate mischief intended to achieve a malicious and pre-conceived outcome. In reality, there is no such thing as Igbos vs Yorubas when it comes to politics and electioneering matters in Lagos state. Rather, the battle for the soul of Lagos is actually between APC and the people. For a party that has been at the helm of affairs in the state for 24 years, this attempt to divert attention from its failures must not be allowed to stand. The diversity of a cosmopolitan city like Lagos must take preeminence over other pedestrian sentiments. With the dust from the Presidential elections yet to settle, our gaze must now be firmly fixated on the Gubernatorial polls coming up on Saturday, March 11th, 2023. For millions of well-meaning Lagosians, it is about the breath of fresh air that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour represents vs the perennial status quo of godfatherism and perpetual subjugation. It is not a battle between the Igbos vs the Yorubas, it is a war to set Lagos free from the strangleholds of APC.
