I think you and divinepen1 should help me select a winner by Monday through elimination process.

Checking word count and originality of the works
Then disqualifying those that campaigned for likes. The leading contestant left with the most likes after the scrutiny will be our winner.

I loved some people's work better than others but some happen to be more popular than others ... so it's just not a level playing ground like you mentioned. Pm me so we can exchange ideas cos the next competition comes up soon after this one. Want to ensure everyone gets a fair chance.

I have closed the competition for the diary section
After noting that they couldn't post on the page.

I'm thinking more about your first suggestion in the short story section...about sending the topic to the front page,when the posting of stories is closed and letting more people participate by reading and liking.

But I think it will mean that the winner will emerge on a later date. If you can guarantee the front page and get the others to agree to let the winner emerge after added votes from the front page then it's ok.
