Foreign Affairs / Retail Sales Drops In Europe by WastedSpyPlane: 7:19am On Mar 23, 2023
Skyrocketing inflation has dampened household consumption, an official report says.

Retail sales in Poland slumped for a second straight month in February, at the fastest pace since 2020 as inflation continued to squeeze spending power, Statistics Poland reported on Tuesday.

Last month, sales in the sector dropped by 5% year-on-year, far more than an expected 1.4% decline, the figures showed. On a monthly basis, retail saw a 3.6% decline from January.

“Retail sales of goods, with calculations based on data from stores with at least 10 employees, decreased by 5% in February. At the same time, in January this fall was 0.3%,” the report said.

Economists attribute the weak turnover to persisting pressure on households’ real disposable incomes and purchasing power, caused by spiraling inflation.

Sales of furniture and household appliances slid 10.3% in February, while retail sales of other durable goods contracted by 12.3%.

Purchases of food in Poland fell for a second month in a row grin, losing 4.6% in February compared to the same period last year. The data also showed a 26.2% annual decline in fuel sales.

Poland’s inflation is at its highest since 1996. ;DConsumer prices rose 18.4% year-on-year in February, up from the 16.6% the previous month, according to the latest data from Statistics Poland.

Foreign Affairs / Su-27 Pilots Who Prevented Border Violation By US Receives Award For Courage by WastedSpyPlane: 4:49pm On Mar 22, 2023
The Russian pilots that turned the WastedSpyPlane into a submarine were honoured with the Order of Courage.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu awarded Order of Courage to the pilots that prevented the border violation by a US drone over the Black Sea, the ministry said on Wednesday.

Last week, the Russian Defense Ministry said a US MQ-9 drone fell in the Black Sea after engaging in sharp maneuvering, noting that Russian fighter jets sent to intercept it did not come into contact with it nor used weapons against it. The ministry said the air control of the Russian Aerospace Forces recorded the flight of the drone in the region of the Crimean peninsula in the direction of the Russian border. The US European Command earlier said that the incident that resulted in the complete loss of the drone involved a Russian Su-27 aircraft, which allegedly struck the drone's propeller during an "unsafe and unprofessional intercept" over the Black Sea.

"The Orders of Courage were awarded to the pilots of Su-27 aircraft who prevented the violation by the US unmanned aerial vehicle MQ-9 of the borders of the temporary regime for the use of airspace established for the purpose of conducting the special military operation," the statement said.

Other countries are watching.
Russia is the protector of Syria(the West has been unable to depose Assad in Syria bc of President Putin's support). If Israel continues to attack Syria and Russia does nothing, it'll undermine the confidence of other countries that look up to Russia for protection against Western imperialism.
For illustration..Nigeria wants to move away from the Western sphere of influence but she knows she'll be attacked by the West...when Nigeria sees what the West does in Syria, Nigeria wouldn't want to be another Syria.
Provide weapons for Syrians and upgrade its air defense systems. Fine tune it's capability and capacity for retaliatory strikes and weak countries (like Nigeria) that are unable to protect themselves will do away with fear.

At least 2 or 3 retaliatory strikes against Israel to send the right message.
It has happened before. It should happen again.

The EU country has vowed to end energy imports from Moscow

Finnish state-run energy provider Gasum intends to continue buying gas from Russia, Yle news outlet reported on Monday, citing a statement from the company.

Gasum has a long-term gas supply contract with Russia, which was signed before Ukraine-related EU sanctions and Russian counter-sanctions were introduced last year, according to the statement. This will be valid “for several more years,” the company said, noting that it is obliged to pay under the contract and doesn’t intend to breach this agreement.

“The contract is a so-called take-or-pay contract, which is common in gas supply contracts. It means that Gasum is obliged to pay for a certain amount of liquefied natural gas (LNG) every year, whether we get it from Russia or not,” the company explained to Yle in an email. Gasum noted that it has no legal grounds to terminate the contract or take it to arbitration.

In response to EU sanctions last year, Moscow demanded that buyers in countries that supported them must pay for Russian gas supplies in rubles instead of dollars or euro. Finland refused to accept the change in payments, and Gazprom suspended pipeline gas deliveries to the country.

However, Helsinki continued to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russian Novatek’s Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG plant. Gasum claims that it imports only the bare minimum of the fuel from Russia to avoid a breach.

“Gasum has only imported the minimum amount of LNG from Russia as stipulated in the contract. We have not agreed on any additional shipments and we do not intend to do so in the future,” it explained.

According to the Finnish customs service, Gasum has bought around $188 million worth of natural gas from Russia since February 2022. In 2021, Gazprom supplied Gasum with 1.49 billion cubic meters of gas, which equated to two-thirds of Finland’s total consumption.

Breaking News: Nazi sympathizers wished they woke up to a successful counter offensive but they got decaying Pigs for bacon grin

According to Andrey Marochko, several Ukrainian soldiers sustained wounds in the battle but were still alive, however, "they died after a while because no assistance was rendered to them"

Ukrainian troops did not rescue their wounded fellow soldiers and left them for dead after failing to counterattack Russian forces on the front near Kupyansk, Andrey Marochko, a retired lieutenant-colonel of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), told TASS on Wednesday.

"The bodies of eliminated militants were found near Ukrainian positions between Novosyolovskoye and Stelmakhovka (the Kupyansk sector of the frontlines - TASS). The enemy sustained losses after yet another attempt at a counteroffensive in that sector of the frontline two days ago, but the bodies were never retrieved," he said, citing Russian recon data.

According to Marochko, several Ukrainian soldiers sustained wounds in the battle but were still alive, however, "they died after a while because no assistance was rendered to them."

On Monday, Colonel Sergey Zybinsky, the spokesman for Russia’s Western group of forces, said that the Russian army had thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian forces to attack Russian positions in the area of Kupyansk.

The West had admitted that the Minsk agreement was only a ploy to buy Ukraine time to train and equip it's armed forces for subsequent offensive ops/Neo-Nazi ops.
So I understand the hysteria and paranoia of the West. It's rooted in it's own lack of genuine civilization, deceit, deception and dishonesty.
The West is basically scared of it's own shadow.

Whatever the case may be, the only realible mediator/guarantor is China(based on it's reputation/records in diplomacy...the Saudi-Iran deal was a miracle).

Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva said earlier that the current mediators "have nothing to offer to the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and suggested a new international format be established to create groundwork for talks between Moscow and Kiev.

Russia is a guarantor of lasting peace in the world, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Tuesday.

"Russia is not an insignificant country. Russia is very important in terms of ensuring peace across the world for centuries," he said in an interview with the 247 television channel.

He recalled his country’s position on the situation in Ukraine. "The war has been underway for a year, now it is time to find someone who will begin to speak about peace because the United States is not speaking about peace," he said, adding that during his upcoming visit to China next week he plans to discuss his peace initiative with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is currently on a state visit in Moscow. The very fact of Xi’s visit to Russia is a "good news," he noted.

"First, it is necessary to cease combat operations and then try to negotiate relations between the two countries. What will Russia think sufficient to stop, what will Ukraine be ready to accept? This is what needs to be discussed, but only after a cessation of hostilities," the Brazilian president stressed.

Da Silva said earlier that the current mediators "have nothing to offer" to the parties to the conflict in Ukraine and suggested a new international format be established to create groundwork for talks between Moscow and Kiev. He also said he was ready to act as a mediator in direct talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelensky.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has pushed against any attempt to 'freeze' the Ukraine conflict through a ceasefire, saying it will mean an unfinished war for Europe.

"Any attempt to 'freeze the conflict', protract it, 'cease fire' will mean one thing - an unfinished war smoldering in the heart of Europe and constant erosion of the foundations of global security," Podolyak said in a message posted on social media.

On March 20, the US Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby expressed concerns that Chinese President Xi Jinping will use his visit to Moscow to reiterate calls for a ceasefire and to arrange truce to which Washington objects.

Xi is currently paying a state visit to Moscow on the invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, which is Xi's first travel abroad after his reelection for the third term in March. A four-hour informal meeting took place in Kremlin on Monday evening, the official negotiations began on Tuesday.
On February 24, the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a 12-point statement on the political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine. The plan included the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, the resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev, and a call for preventing further escalation.

Foreign Affairs / Namibian Court Revokes Citizenship Of Gay Couple’s Son by WastedSpyPlane: 2:56pm On Mar 21, 2023
The Supreme Court ruled that a violation of the Citizenship Act made it unconstitutional to grant “citizenship by descent”

The Supreme Court of Namibia has overturned a lower court’s decision to grant citizenship to the son of a gay couple who was born to a surrogate mother in neighboring South Africa. Phillip Luhl, a Namibian, and his Mexican partner, Guillermo Delgado, are listed as parents on the South African birth certificate of four-year-old Yona.

In late 2021, the Namibian High Court granted the child nationality after the Ministry of Home Affairs denied it on technical grounds. The government filed an appeal, arguing that the birth had not been registered with the Namibian authorities within a year, as required by law.

The Supreme Court upheld the government’s appeal in its ruling on Monday, saying the High Court had “misdirected itself.”

“Since the birth was not registered in terms of the Citizenship Act, it was not competent for the High Court to grant the relief it did to the respondent,” the court said, according to AFP.

The Supreme Court further explained that the Ministry of Home Affairs was right in not granting the child citizenship by descent “because there was non-compliance with the Citizenship Act.”

The Namibian ministry had also previously demanded a DNA test to prove that one of the child’s parents was Namibian. The couple refused to undergo the test.

The latest court decision has been met with disappointment by the couple, who argued that the judiciary should prioritize the best interests of the child.

One of Yona’s parents, Luhl, told the media that the ruling by the Supreme Court was just another way of “frustrating people that don’t have full access to equality, frustrating them with bureaucratic procedural matters.”

Homosexuality is still illegal in Namibia, although the 1927 sodomy law is rarely enforced today. South Africa has been the only African country to allow same-sex marriage since 2006.

The two other former servicemen killed during the conflict were Dominic Abelen, who died last August in the Zaporozhye Region, and Andrew Bagshaw, who died after being hit by artillery fire in Soledar in January 2023

The New Zealand’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry has confirmed the deaths of three former members of the country’s armed forces as a result of combat operations in Ukraine, Radio New Zealand reported, citing a diplomatic source.

Kane Te Tai, a former New Zealand Defense Force soldier, fought in Ukraine on the side of the Kiev regime. He was killed in March 2023, thus becoming the third New Zealand mercenary whose death was confirmed by the authorities.

The two other former servicemen killed during the conflict were Dominic Abelen, who died last August in the Zaporozhye Region, and Andrew Bagshaw, who died after being hit by artillery fire in Soledar in January 2023.

Even though New Zealand’s government forbade its citizens to leave for Ukraine, some managed to depart before the order came into effect. According to some estimates, at least 100 mercenaries from New Zealand were taking part in the conflict on the side of Ukraine. The New Zealand’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry did not comment on this information.

They should just suspend the deal...the grain is not getting to Africa, it's always finding a way to Western ports. It's not getting to those who really needs it (impoverished/developing countries like Nigeria).

According to the Russian president, this will happen if the Black Sea deal is not extended beyond 60 days.

Russia is considering a plan to send grain “free of charge” to countries in Africa, particularly those in greatest need, President Vladimir Putin has said.

His remarks come two days after the Black Sea Initiative, which allows Ukrainian agricultural produce to be exported via the Black Sea in a deal supported by the UN and Türkiye, was extended by 60 days.

Speaking on Monday at the International Parliamentary Conference “Russia-Africa in a Multipolar World,” President Putin said Moscow’s decision to extend the agreement was “guided by the needs of African countries.”

According to the UN, since the initiative was introduced in July 2022, approximately 25 million metric tons of grain and other produce have been sent to 45 countries, helping to stabilize global food prices. The deal includes a Memorandum of Understanding between Russia and the UN, with the goal of freeing up fertilizer exports.

However, the Russian leader expressed concern over the diversion of grain to wealthier European countries. He noted that between August 2022 and March 2023, “827 ships left Ukraine, of which only three million tons of grain were sent to Africa and 1.3 million to the poorest countries in Africa,” while “almost 45% went to well-fed European countries.”

The Russian president earlier insisted on reducing the duration of the deal from an initial 120 days to 60, to hold out for amendments “in the interests of African and other developing countries, considering that they need large amounts of food.”

He warned that Russia will only continue to abide by the agreement if certain conditions are met. Moscow has previously urged Western powers to lift sanctions on Russian agricultural exports, as a condition for maintaining the grain deal with Ukraine.

Speaking at the UN Security Council last Friday, Russia’s Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia explained that while Moscow has agreed to extend the scheme, it can only continue further if Western countries address Russia’s concerns.

President Putin pledged in his address on Monday: “If we nevertheless decide not to renew this deal after 60 days, then we are ready to deliver the entire volume that was sent from Russia to African countries during the previous period, in particular those in need, to those countries free of charge.”

Foreign Affairs / UK Asks Afghan Collaborators To Get Thier Documents Approved By The Taliban by WastedSpyPlane: 9:10am On Mar 20, 2023
grin grin
The very definition of stupidity and cluelessness. Even Nigerian politicians would not make this ridiculous mistake.

London has admitted a “mistake” that required its Afghan contractors to vet their relocation with Taliban officials.

The UK Ministry of Defence has belatedly apologized for requiring Afghan citizens who worked with London during the US-led NATO occupation of their country to have their documents approved by the Taliban before applying for resettlement in Britain, the Independent revealed on Sunday.

The government confirmed that 37 applicants to the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Police (ARAP) program, designed specifically to relocate allies who worked directly with the British military during the war, had been told they would have to have their papers certified with Afghan government departments. Those departments have been run by the Taliban since the group returned to power amid the hasty withdrawal of NATO forces in 2021.

Given that such individuals would be seen as enemy collaborators by the Islamic fundamentalists, the policy amounted to “asking them to sign their own death warrant,” one UK lawmaker told the Independent.

After initially denying that applicants had been given any such instructions for weeks, the ministry has apologized “unreservedly for this error.” A spokesperson told the Independent there would be an investigation into how the life-threatening orders had been sent, plus a review “to identify any further remedial actions needed to strengthen policies and processes.”

UK defence officials insisted that all 37 affected applicants have confirmed they are safe, though at least one interpreter is apparently in hiding after taking his marriage certificate to the Afghan Ministry of Justice for “validation.” The Afghan contractors have been sent revised guidance and an apology for “any misunderstanding or distress” caused by previous instructions.

While the UK has two dedicated programs in place for relocating Afghan refugees, people fleeing the war-torn country now make up the largest portion of small-boat passengers arriving illegally on British shores.

Some 743 people were resettled under ARAP in the last quarter of 2022. Under the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme, which is open to any “at-risk and vulnerable” refugees who “supported UK values” in their home country, just 22 Afghans have entered the UK since the Taliban takeover.

The US also imperiled hundreds of its Afghan allies as it haphazardly exited the country in August 2021, ending the longest war in American history. The US State Department gave the Taliban lists for entire busloads of people whom it wanted allowed through checkpoints so they could get to the Kabul airport for evacuation, essentially marking those individuals as potential enemy collaborators.

Such evil and incompetence is a routine across various Western circles.

My children, I'm not done with you yet grin
Discussing the invasion of Iraq and mentioning the war criminals that orchestrated it is not an obsession with Biden. grin are you really that dumb? Seriously?
It's unwise to entertain opinions about monikers from semi-literate persons who refer to themselves as 1stGenAmerican, EnlightenedUFO grin I'm literally LMAO grin
And then..no one in Nigeria cares about Biden.
That 'popularity' got me cackling grin
To the few that knows who he is; he is a slow, senile, demented and clueless old man.
The name on everyone's lips is Vladimir Putin.
To some, he is a war criminal, a monster, a dead man, a clone blah blah blah...but to the rest of the world (and indeed the majority), he is a hero that saved his people and the globe from Western Hegemony, Imperialism, Nazism, Neocolonialism etc.

Foreign Affairs / Efforts Underway To Create Trade Mission In Nigeria- Moscow by WastedSpyPlane: 6:27pm On Mar 19, 2023
Also, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, it is planned to open a trade office in Ethiopia in the second quarter of 2023.

Moscow will open a trade mission in Ethiopia in the second quarter of 2023, Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Osmakov said at a roundtable as part of the International Parliamentary Conference Russia-Africa on Sunday, adding that the work was also underway to set up a trade mission in Nigeria.

"Last year a maneuver was launched to distribute trade missions. It is planned to open a trade mission in Ethiopia in the second quarter of this year, with the government’s decision made. Efforts are underway to set up a trade mission in Nigeria, and other countries are being explored," he said.

Four Russian trade missions currently work on African territory, Osmakov noted, adding that employees from abandoned offices in the West would be moved to new missions in African countries.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said last July that Russia had 57 registered trade mission, covering economic cooperation with 72 nations. The focus on Western countries has decreased, particularly on the UK and Switzerland, while the role of trade missions in African, Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian and Latin American countries has risen, he pointed out.
