Foreign Affairs / ‘Mega Strike’ Hits germany by WastedSpyPlane: 9:54pm On Mar 27, 2023
Mega strike in Russia...sorry I mean Germany grin
Hundreds of thousands of public transport workers walked off the job on Monday, bringing the country to a halt

Airports, bus stops, and train stations were at a standstill across Germany on Monday, as more than 400,000 public transportation employees took part in a 24-hour strike. The workers are demanding pay rises to compensate for inflation, which has soared in Germany since last year.

The strike began at midnight and is set to end at midnight on Tuesday. Eight major German airports were affected, with the German Airports Association estimating that around 380,000 travelers were left stranded. Munich Airport shut down entirely from Sunday onwards, with all flights canceled and its terminal deserted.

Deutsche Bahn said on Monday that all long-distance services were canceled, while regional services were only restarting in some areas by Monday evening. Trams, buses, and metro lines were also affected throughout the country.

Freight trains were halted too, as was shipping traffic in and out of Hamburg, Germany’s largest port and Europe’s third-busiest.

The strike is the result of demands for wage hikes issued by several major trade unions. Verdi, a public services union representing some 2.5 million employees, seeks a pay rise of 10.5%, but no less than €500. EVG, which represents around 230,000 employees at Deutsche Bahn and some other bus companies, demands a 12% wage increase but no less than €650.

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told Reuters on Monday that an agreement between the government and the unions will likely be reached this week.

Roughly 400,000 workers took part in the strike, Verdi chief Frank Werneke told German media. Newspapers in Germany described the walkout as a “mega strike,” calling it the largest such disruption in decades.

Werneke told the German newspaper Bild that securing a pay rise is “a matter of survival for many thousands of employees” struggling to cope with the rising cost of living.

Once Europe’s economic powerhouse, Germany has seen its industrial output shrink and inflation rise to 8.7% in February, up from a steady rate of 0-2% between the mid-1990s and the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine last year.

Germany was heavily dependent on Russian gas and oil imports before the conflict, which all but ceased following the EU’s imposition of sanctions and the allegedly US-orchestrated destruction of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Although the German government announced in January that the country would narrowly avoid a recession this year, credit ratings agency Fitch predicted earlier this month that the German economy will enter recession by late 2023.

How To Buy A House / Land Plot In Russia

If you decided to relocate to Russia, buying a house or a land plot is a good alternative to purchasing an apartment. Below we will explore Russian house and land market, check legal aspects and share other useful tips.

Choosing the right land plot

Russian house and land market boasts thousands of great offers, and it is important to make the right choice.
Make sure the land type meets your needs: Agricultural lands can be used for farming only. Residential buildings are not allowed. Foreign citizens are not allowed to own agricultural lands, but can rent them for a long term. Residential lands allow building private houses and garages as well as growing a garden.
Foreign citizens are allowed to purchase residential land plots except those close to the state border.
There are several other things to check: the plot's borders on the map should match with what the seller showed on the ground; if any electricity lines cross the plot, its use may be restricted; if the plot is close to a river or lake, its owner must ensure free public access to the shore, etc.
You can always check the land plot size, status and borders at the Public Cadastral Map searching by the land plot's cadastral number or address.

Russian Homestead Act

Effective 2016 all Russian citizens are eligible to get a free land plot of up to 1 hectare in the Russian Far East. This initiative attracted several thousands of Russian settlers and potential immigrants from abroad. Unfortunately, as of now most immigrants are not eligible for participating in this program except those immigrating as Russian language native speakers. However, the land in Russia is not really expensive, and though most foreigners can't get a free land plot, they can easily and inexpensively buy it.

Choosing the right house

Starting from the 1990s Russia has been experiencing a private housing boom. Millions of brick, wooden and frame country houses in traditional Russian, Finnish, Swiss and German styles have been built.
When purchasing a house it is important to pay attention to the following: The house must be registered with the local authorities. Otherwise it won't be possible to officially reside there. The house must comply with the building standards. For example, a private house must not be higher than 20 m or have more than 3 floors; it can't be built on water and gas pipes, too close to other buildings, etc. The house should be officially connected to electricity, water and gas lines. One more useful tip: many modern houses have electric heating system, but it will be quite expensive in winter. Gas heating is the best solution.

Checking the costs
The best website to check the real cost for a house or a land plot in Russia and to find all relevant offers is Avito.ru. You can filter offers by price, land size, location, etc. On average the prices for a standard residential land plot range from $2,000 to 20,000 depending on its location. A modern house together with the plot may cost $40,000 — $200,000. (Prices start at $1,000,000 in Vancouver, Canada. China is the main investor in these properties and even those who refer to themselves as Canadian cannot afford property ownership).

Legal procedures
The land and house purchasing procedure in Russia is similar to buying an apartment. The sales contract should be registered with the Federal Cadastral Service. It can be done at any public services center (called МФЦ in Russian). If the owner is below 18 and in some other cases the contract should be certified by a notary. Also, it is very important to double-check with the state registry the seller's ownership rights. Purchasing a house or a land plot is always a very important deal with hundreds of details. Our team will be glad to provide you with legal support, analyze offers' advantages and disadvantages and make sure the deal is risk-free. https://russianconsultants.com/how-to-buy-a-house-land-in-russia

Homeless westerners need affordable housing(maybe we can talk about toilets then), Americans need affordable healthcare. Jobs nko? Missing. Skyrocketing poverty? Present. Economy? Thrashed grin Instead of the West to focus on developing the shithole it calls a garden and picking up the pace to match China's level of development, it's busy fighting inconsequential wars!
You seem to be describing the West.

Hello! Glad you did not even mention cos you know it’s a shithole! Nothing happens there! It’s not even economically buoyant! As for that slave market called China, it’s still behind the a West! It still cannot boast about a U.S. economy, how much more the West! Stop hyping communist who control their media and only show you the good things they have. China is a slave market! The United States is reportedly investigating the reason why its air defense system was not fully operational during a strike on a US base in Syria.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said earlier in the day that the US military had carried out airstrikes on facilities belonging to groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) after an Iranian drone attacked a coalition base in northeast Syria, killing one US contractor.

The US military does not know at present why the system did not work as it should and the circumstances are under investigation, the report said, citing two officials. (You guys should wait, they'll soon go and concoct one lie/excuse to feed you guys) grin

One of the officials explained that the Avenger missile defense system on the base, named RLZ, may have been experiencing some unexpected maintenance issue, despite the fact that the troops were on high alert given that Iranian-backed groups had conducted 78 attacks in the past two years, US media reported.

Two service members injured during the attack were treated on site, while three others were evacuated to the medical facility in Iraq along with a wounded contractor, a release issued late Thursday by the Pentagon detailed.

The Defense Department did not reveal the identity of the killed person, pending notification of family, one official said, according to the report.

US officials said on Friday that Iran-backed militias fired about a dozen of rockets while attacking a second US base in the area, but that strike did not result in casualties. (Na lie o...it's damage control...so the US can save face ...shey you understand) grin

The US military controls parts of the provinces of Al-Hasakah, Raqqa, Aleppo and Deir Ez-Zor, where the largest Syrian oil and gas fields are located. The Syrian government has repeatedly called the US military presence in the provinces an occupation aimed at stealing Syria’s oil.

A flower-laying ceremony was held on Friday in Serbia’s capital of Belgrade to commemorate the 24th anniversary of NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia.

The ceremony was led by Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selakovic, and was attended by Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Belarusian Ambassador Valery Brilev, President of the Union of War Veterans of the National Liberation Wars of Serbia (SUBNOR) Vidosav Kovacevic, as well as public figures and numerous ordinary citizens.

The commemoration took place in Belgrade’s Tasmajdan Park, where a monument depicting a child with wings and engraved with the inscription "We were just children" has been erected. The monument portrays Milica Rakic, a three-year-old girl who was killed by shrapnel on April 17, 1999, in the bathroom of her home in a suburb of Belgrade, which was located far from any military facilities. According to the Serbian government, Milica was among the 87 children who were killed in the NATO bombings.

Friday marks the 24th anniversary of NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia, which was unleashed on March 24, 1999, and lasted for 78 days. The alliance’s leadership argued that the main rationale for the operation, codenamed Allied Force, was to prevent the genocide of Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian population. According to NATO sources, its aircraft flew 38,000 sorties and carried out 10,000 bombing strikes.

The bombardments killed, according to Serbian estimates, 3,500-4,000 people, and left about 10,000 others (two-thirds of them civilians) injured. Material damages totaled up to $100 billion. During the three months of the bombing campaign, NATO forces dropped 15 tons of depleted uranium in bombs and shells on Serbia. Subsequently, the Balkan country’s cancer rates surged to first place in Europe. In the first ten years following the bombardments, about 30,000 people developed cancer, of which an estimated 10,000-18,000 died.

A German political activist urged the United States and its Western allies to pay heed to rapid changes underway in the international arena following Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s Moscow visit.

In an interview with TASS on Wednesday, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, the founder of the US-based Schiller Institute, said that China’s peace proposal "is not only endorsed by Russia, but is supported by the entire Global South." "The initial reaction of [US] President [Joe] Biden was to reject it, as did some other leaders of the EU. But it is now becoming clear to the whole world who is trying to establish peace, and who is trying to prolong and escalate the war," Zepp-LaRouche emphasized, when asked whether the Chinese leader’s visit to Russia could usher in peace in Ukraine.

According to her, Western establishments "are still completely underestimating the reality that there is a powerful renaissance of the non-aligned spirit occurring right now." "The countries of the Global South are determined to end colonialism for good in its new cloth, and they do not want to be drawn into a geopolitical conflict between the US and Russia, or between the US and China, with whom many of them have very beneficial economic ties," she underscored.

Zepp-LaRouche praised as spectacular China’s diplomatic success "in getting Saudi Arabia and Iran to return to diplomacy and cooperation," and said that Beijing had proven that "it can be a surprising peacemaker." "So, the US and the entire West have to consider this rapidly changing international environment, and that it may be better to cooperate with it, rather than to lose more and more influence by opposing this peace plan," she noted.

In February, the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a position paper on a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine. The twelve-point document includes calls for a ceasefire, respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the field of security, settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev, as well as the cancellation of unilateral sanctions imposed without a corresponding decision of the UN Security Council.

In the published document, China described dialogue and negotiations as the sole way of resolving the crisis in Ukraine and called on all parties to support Moscow and Kiev in "moving toward each other", urging a resumption of direct dialogue as soon as possible. The world community should create conditions and provide a platform for the resumption of talks, the document emphasized.

Following talks with Xi on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that many provisions of China’s peace plan on Ukraine could be used as a basis for the conflict settlement whenever the West and Kiev were ready for that. At the same time, he pointed out that so far, "no such readiness" could be seen.

Ladies and gentlemen, to the lovers of true freedom, self-determination, and prosperity, the time we all wish for is right here before us. A multipolar world where no single power dominates everywhere, putting Africa knee-deep in poverty, backwardness, and suffering.

President Xi and President Putin are the torchbearers of this solemn task, and we must give them all the support they need. These two countries have never in their history harmed Africa, instead, they helped us a lot. From decolonization to infrastructure and loans, and never killed any of our revolutionary leaders.

You know that a person is good when he helps you when he was poor, not when he is rich. China in the time of Mao has been building infrastructure all over Africa (read about the Tazara railways), a time when China is as poor as Bangladesh.

But the west enslaved our ancestors for four hundred years, then colonized us, and are the wealthiest bloc, but still, refuse to help us. Instead, they keep killing our leaders, calling us monkeys, seeing us as inferiors, and sanctioning our economies. Should I continue? Their evil in Africa is beyond words.

I know there are many slaves in our midst, just like Judas Iscariot, who will sabotage any effort to free themselves, since the only world they know and are comfortable in is a white man's hegemonic world, but good will always defeat evil. They can enslave your body. but never allow them to enslave your soul.

US ‘uneasy’ about China’s peace plan for Ukraine

Beijing could convince the world that Washington does not want an end to the conflict, Bloomberg has reported, citing a White House official

There is a “sense of unease” in the White House about the consequences of its dismissal of the Chinese peace plan for Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed official in the administration of President Joe Biden.

In February, the US publicly brushed off the roadmap for peace presented by China for the conflict between Russia and its neighbor.

However, Bloomberg reported that Washington now fears it could be “backed into a corner” by Beijing’s proposals, with the Biden administration said to be concerned that it has created the impression that the US does not want peace.

America’s stance could be used by Beijing to convince nations that are weary of the conflict that the US has no interest in ending the hostilities, Bloomberg added.

“China will likely ramp up messaging that the US is opposed to a ceasefire, that the US is opposed to the end of the war,” former Pentagon official Bonny Lin, who is now a fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told the media outlet.

The Bloomberg report follows a three-day visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow this week, during which he held extensive talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. Moscow had previously welcomed the Chinese peace initiative for Ukraine, and during this week’s talks Putin expressed his readiness to discuss and build upon it. He also reiterated that Moscow is willing to seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

The peace plan presented by China called for the resumption of talks between Moscow and Kiev. It also condemned unilateral sanctions, and urged the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations to be upheld.

Along with Washington, other Western powers largely brushed off the initiative, with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg claiming that China does not have “much credibility” on the issue. However, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken did later admit that the plan includes “positive elements.”

Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the Biden administration for failing to prevent what he described as a “wedding” between Moscow and Beijing. Downplaying the increasingly close ties between Russia and China “is an enormous strategic mistake,” Pompeo insisted.

US Threatens Uganda With Economic Response for Criminalizing Homosexuality grin grin grin

Uganda is on the verge of prohibiting any kind of homosexual activities in the country, including punishing those who identify themselves as gay. The country's authorities say the law will protect cultural, religious and family values.

Washington has threatened Uganda with economic "repercussions," if the African country passes a new bill concerning legal accountability for homosexual activities.
"We would have to take a look at whether or not there might be repercussions that we would have to take, perhaps in an economic way, should this law actually get passed – enacted," John Kirby, National Security Council spokesman, said during a press briefing this week.

The 2023 Anti-Homosexuality Bill that was recently discussed by the Ugandan parliament would introduce punishment for people who identify themselves as gay, including capital punishment in specific cases. Such cases, for instance, include sexual relations involving those infected with HIV and underage minors.
The next step for the bill to become a law is the president’s approval.

Initially, the Anti-Homosexuality Bill was proposed by Asuman Basalirwa, a member of the country’s parliament, earlier this month.
According to the lawmaker, the bill purports to protect cultural, religious and family values of the Ugandan people "from acts that are likely to promote sexual promiscuity in this country."

"The objective of the bill was to establish a comprehensive and enhanced legislation to protect traditional family values, our diverse culture, our faiths, by prohibiting any form of sexual relations between persons of the same sex and the promotion or recognition of sexual relations between persons of the same sex," Basalirwa said.

In his recent speech, President Museveni accused Western nations of "trying to impose their practices on other people," emphasizing that his nation won't follow "people who are lost," citing Western countries’ tendency towards normalizing homosexuality.
"The homosexuals are deviations from normal. Why? Is it by nature or nurture? We need to answer these questions," President Museveni said, as cited by media.
