Medipharm: Are you the one deploying them? Do you think countries want to go to war? If it is that easy, NATO will have faced Russia directly. In as much as we want Peace in the world, do you think that Netanyahu is afraid of those you mentioned? That man's silent madness is more than that of Putin's and that of North Korea president's combined. Not as if Putin is god. Stop worshipping him, he's even jittery many a times. The life of Israeli Hostages are important and we will save them at all costs, Any sane Nation will do same....... IDF spokesperson, DANIEL HAGARI it's obvious you don't know the meaning of jittery. Jittery and and Putin can't be in the same sentence |

Politics › Re: Shehu Shagari: Nigerian President's Salary In 1979 (Throwback Photo) by Watcharena: 6:57pm On Jun 28, 2024 |
Sublimesuccess: Hmmm
That was when my father bought a brand new car for less than #4000. So the annual salary of the president then would buy almost 13 of such cars. Imagine selling that car for 8 million naira in our own time and a modern day president can afford to buy 13 such cars with his BASIC SALARY of 104 million naira. There was corruption then as well.
Even the cover price of the newspaper should tell you something. That newspaper cost 15k then, now it is #300. If you divide #50000 by 15k, it's the same result you get by dividing #100 million by #300, the current price of the newspaper, and I don't even think the official salary of the modern day president is up to #100 million. For the president nowadays to buy the same number of newspapers the annual salary of the president then could buy, he must earn #100 million annually. Let's be relative with the way we think.
Likewise I saw people thinking that the man selling roasted corn in London had struck gold by selling one for £1. Converting the money into naira is a fairy tale. A bottle of coke there is about £2. Imagine selling one cob of corn for £1 and buying a bottle of coke for £2! It's like garbage in, garbage out.
Based on the values copied from Wikipedia below,in 1979, $1=60k, therefore #50,000 then in 1979=$83333. Let's convert the $83333 back to naira in 2024 when $1=#1235 based on the table, $83333=#103 million. So #50000 then and #103 million today are equal!!! Cutting it down further, #5 in 1979 and #10000 today have the same purchasing strength. exchange rate is not just the issue, how much was a teacher paid within that period ? |

Gerrard59: My question was HOW MANY? You showed me only one. When making a categorical statement, you must be careful with certain words which have to do with numbers. To teach you this thing, here is a first class graduate of Accounting from Covenant University: https://www.linkedin.com/in/fatima-dashe-ad24/ who works for the prestigious company Boston Consulting Group. Would I now say that ALL first class graduates are employed?
Now to Kura Benedicta (I just read the post on Facebook) who graduated and served not more than two years ago. The questions are: has she written aptitude tests? How many companies has she applied to? Before attempting to write ICAN, has she applied to top accounting firms? I don't work in bureau of statistics, are there unemployed first class graduates in Nigeria yes. I don't know which one aptitude test because I never wrote one before I got a job. As for Ican I was not a member of any professional body before I got a job. The op and his family has been struggling financially at a stage he couldn't even afford a laptop to aid his skills, now that the money has started flowing you're telling him to leave it to go to school when he is not going to use his certificate for anything. you tell me billionaire that made it through paid job |

Odibembem: Was it not Muslims that hit d twin towers on Sept 11 killing over 3k innocent people unprovoked? Those Muslims were members of alqaeda and were taking shelter in Afghanistan. Afghanistan were told to expel them, they refused cos d Taliban govt sponsored them. So what was d US supposed to do to get justice? On Libya, no Christian invaded Libya, d Libyans on their own rose against Gadafi, and when he was annihilating them, NATO countries intervened with no fly zones. Yes Iraq was d only misadventure on d list but Iraq itself has been a violent regime attacking and annexing it's neighbors ok so what did Vietnam did ? Russia is also a violent regime why didn't they get the same treatment? |

11doubledee: Are you saying Hezbollah should keep firing missiles at isreal and continue hostilities? Have you ever considered what peace and stability would mean for Lebanon? If Lebanon wave the white flag today and stop hostilities will they die or not develop? If isreal craze to attack them afterwards, even shame no go make America fit support. My point is,you may want Lebanon to start a war thinking they will win but that does not mean they will. Me i sincerely don't want hear the rants of genocide afterwards. If you claim isreal attacks women and children you too attack isreali women and children since you don't want to value peace. Shikena! there is no shame In US please take notes |

If Russia is in any mess today, blame it on Putin. He and his cronies have been milking the Russian state of 100s of billions of dollars. There's no press freedom. He commenced a totally unnecessary war out of pride.
