I lived in the UK, my income (salary) tax plus Council tax was over 40% of my salary every month.

So, if I go to a hospital that is free in the UK, it means the government is subsidising the hospital?. Absolutely not. It simply means I am enjoying the benefit of a very high tax that the government takes from my salary.

And remember many of these countries have been collecting taxes from their citizens for over 200 years which they have used to build their country.
