Prayer is good but faith without work is dead. Prayer without action is frustrations and confusion.

We need more action towards freedom from our greedy, selfish, insensitive, unproactive and unconcerned leaders who focus more on amassing wealth to themselve and keeping the people in abject poverty by manipulations in the name of politics.

In Nigeria today those who are hungry are fighting for and defending those who are eating their food, while still crying for hunger...no be juju be that?

As of mid-October 2024, the push for a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 is underway across Nigeria. Some states have already committed to or surpassed the federal wage, while others are still negotiating or facing challenges. Here's an overview of the current situation:States Implementing or Committing to the New Wage:

Lagos State: Approved ₦85,000, with plans to increase to ₦100,000 by January 2025.

Rivers State: Set the new minimum at ₦85,000, effective from October 18.

Ogun State: Workers will receive ₦77,000 starting October 14.

Gombe State: Agreed to ₦71,451.15 after negotiations.

Ondo State: Approved a new minimum wage of ₦73,000.

Kogi State: Will pay ₦72,500, with tax exemptions for the first year.

Anambra, Ebonyi, Katsina, Adamawa, Borno, Nasarawa, and Oyo States: Confirmed the ₦70,000 minimum wage rollout before the end of 2024.

States Yet to Fully Commit or Facing Challenges:

Gombe and Kogi States: Have expressed financial concerns, making it hard to pay the new wage.

Plateau and Kebbi States: Still negotiating with labor unions.

Osun and Delta States: In the process of setting up committees to explore the feasibility of the wage adjustment.

Bayelsa and Borno States: Formed committees, but have not finalized implementation strategies.

These disparities highlight the varied financial realities of states across Nigeria. Some are moving swiftly to address workers' needs, while others struggle to meet the new wage demands due to limited resources. What do you think about the progress on this minimum wage implementation?

Is your state ready to meet the new standards?

1. Kogi State N72,500.00

3. Ogun State. N77,000.00 The Latest for now
WHICH STATE IS NEXT?

BREAKING NEWS FOR OGUN WORKERS:

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the sum of N77,000 as the minimum wage for the lowest worker in the state, and the payment takes immediate effect.

This decision was revealed after a meeting of the state government led by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, and the leadership of the organized labour in Ogun State, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), to discuss the implementation of the new minimum wage.

The secretary to the state government said the meeting was at the instance of Governor Abiodun who he stated has directed that no worker in the state should earn less than N77,000 starting from the month of October.

He stated that the governor means well for the people of the state and has proactively taken steps to further ameliorate the suffering of the people.

According to him, Governor Dapo has also advised the organized private sector to take a cue from the policy, as their workers are not exempt from the economic realities in the country, to improve the living standards of people in the state holistically.

The SSG also noted that the governor has therefore advised that the private sector should dialogue with their relevant stakeholders to arrive at a commensurate minimum wage for the sector while he will set up a monitoring team to see how it is implemented by the private sector to ensure no one is short-changed.

On his part, the NLC chairman in Ogun State, Chairman, Hameed Benco, said the organised labour in the state is very pleased that the Governor has approved N77,000 as minimum wage in consultation with labour leaders, noting that is the highest in the country.

Benco said that some states that have implemented the new minimum wage are paying N70,000, while some pay N70,250 or less, adding that the other sectorial salaries will be affected accordingly.

He also mentioned that the government has graciously approved the submission of labour and that the new basic salary should not be taxed.

In the same vein, Akeem Lasisi of the TUC and his counterpart, Isa Olude of the JNC, commended the government for being worker-friendly.

They noted that consequential adjustments for pensioners and other matters will be announced after due consultation with the relevant stakeholders.

In his reaction, the Ogun State Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, said the approval of the generous minimum wage for workers underscores the responsiveness and sensitivity of the governor and the government to the plight of the workers and the general populace of the state.

How? I expect court to teach the individual how to uphold the rule of law in any case that come before it. Not give injunction and counter injunction or order against order.

Even if someone come with money as in bribe to avert justice he or she should be disgrace before the court if possible or the judges should not compromise but punish the individual.

PoliticsGunshots In Obio Akpor Amid Rivers LG Election Feud (video) by wealthyprince(op): 2:15am On Oct 08, 2024
Over the weekend, the Rivers State Local Government election was held under tense conditions, with a backdrop of ongoing political conflicts between the Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.

The election was mired in controversy due to conflicting court orders and the absence of security operatives. The Action Peoples Party (APP), widely believed to be aligned with the Rivers State Governor, emerged victorious in 22 out of 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Amid these tensions, gunshots were reported in Obio Akpor LGA, Ikwerre LGA and Eleme LGA allegedly in an attempt to stop the resumption of the newly elected chairman. Despite these challenges, the elected chairmen were swiftly sworn in on Sunday, sparking widespread reactions across the state.

What do you think of the recent developments? Are these signs of more political drama to come, or will this usher in a new era for Rivers State politics?

Let’s discuss!

Even the Rivers State Governor ought to have sought the court to interpret its own order in this instance...
On a ordinary telling the NPF to not provide security or be involved in such an election given the political fights between a predecessor and successor ordinarily means there should be no election and the governor cannot sought out to use private security outfits in place of constituted ones.

Well, let's see what the day will be like and please let's all be careful and mindful as we go about the day's activities.

On one hand you said you are barred from the election by court rule...which means commot body and that made you to withdraw all government house police.

On the other hand you said you sent operational officers to go and protect the RIEC over night as a good and professional officer....( without informing the governor)... with this action, are you unbarring yourself from the court order or playing with peoples intelligence. I dont really understand that aspect of overnight security and withdrawal of police same time.

That is the point. I think is goal is not second term, is to be incharge of his tenure as a governor without interference since he will give account of his everything that happen in his tenure. Moreover, i also think the plan of impeacement gave him that moral to put his two feet on the ground to avoid disgrace which made things to fall apart.

Like you said, i agree with you he has nothing to loose from every point . People see him as capacity governor.

I advise Rivers people to stay away from that election for their safety. That election will be an avenue where Sim Vs Wike is tested. Typically, elections in Rivers State are always distorted by thugs shooting guns let alone when there's power tussle between two powerful men.

Foreign AffairsDominican Republic Cracks Down On Haitian Illegal Immigration. (video) by wealthyprince(op): 1:56am On Oct 03, 2024
The Dominican Republic has recently ramped up efforts to curb illegal immigration from Haiti, leading to the capture and deportation of many undocumented individuals. With the ongoing economic and political instability in Haiti, more people are crossing the border in search of better opportunities.

However, the Dominican Republic is facing its own challenges, such as unemployment and limited resources, making this a highly sensitive issue.

While some view these actions as necessary for protecting the Dominican Republic’s sovereignty, others argue that the government should approach this with more empathy, considering the dire circumstances in Haiti.

The tension is rising, and both nations are struggling to find a balance. What are your thoughts on this? Should the Dominican Republic continue its crackdown, or is there a better way to handle the situation? Share your opinions below.
