Xedmark:I'm presently in Ibadan and I don't think it's possible because I know most people here on this forum don't live here. I'll send you an email, if there's anyway you can help. Thanks for your help so far. |
Xedmark:Just like I said, I'm not overexcited about this but I just feel it's an opportunity but with the look of things, he's serious about it because we've once met in Nigeria one time like that. My course of study is not in anyway related to this (international relations) so it's not going to be of any help. I'm a fast learner and of course, I have resources and I think I can give it all it takes but what I intend doing right now is to start with these languages as soon as this night and I believe I learn fast too. It would be disapoiting if I just put CMS as my only web skill and that's what I'm trying to avoid. |
LikeAking:Should I include the programming languages I intend to learn in my cv? If yes, what do you think might be my faith if I was granted interview and questions are being asked about these things whereby I have zero/beginer understanding about these languages? Please note, I'm not scared or desperate but I don't want to appear fake. I'm a fast learner too but I'm considering a situation where interview comes faster than I thought. Thanks. |
Xedmark:Thanks for your input. Yes, the motive might be wrong and as a matter of fact, I've never thought a day would come in my life that web designing/programming would turn to be what is going to put food on my table, it all started like play and when I noticed the money was coming then from fiverr, I just decided to complete my education instead of having just Ordinary National Diploma, so I opted for a Bsc program, I chose a private university then because I really don't want to waste time (I'm 29 now) writing jamb/ASUU strike and all that. To buttress this, my educational career is not in anyway related to programming/web designing until I noticed there might not be a way to survive after school than to build myself up as a full stack web developer and that prompted me to start thinking of going to learn programming after signing out of school. I just see this as an opportunity and I don't want it to pass me by considering how the country is going at the moment and I'm sure you don't want to blame me for trying to utilize this opportunity for a better life. I was going to japa through masters (UK) before but the money involved is way much and might take much time to gather as per fiverr is no more what it used to be. I had wanted to send the CV and include all these programming skills, I planned learning (Bootstrap, html and javascript framework) at least for a start but I don't want a situation where I won't be able to defend what I included in my CV considering the fact that he (uncle) is serious about me sending my cv. I just don't want to make mistakes. Thanks. |
Hello house, I'm seriously in a confused state right now. I started designing website through wordpress since 4 years ago and I can say I'm good at it with zero knowledge of coding/programming. I have successfully executed some freelance jobs both on fiverr and Nigeria jobs and I have my personal website that has most these works on it as my portfolio. I was able to sponsor myself through a private university through this wordpress website design stuffs and I just graduated last month, please note that I have no knowledge of programming... I was only looking for a softskill to offer back then on fiverr and it happened to be a success. Throughout this period, I had the plan to learn coding so as to at least be able to answer a web designer/developer but due to the fact that I was so busy with school work and all that, I can't combine schooling, working and learning programming all together because I had to hustle hard to pay these bills of a private university, so I planned learning programming after I sign out from school/NYSC period. To cut the story short, I have a friend who traveled to the UK this year January and has a rich uncle in the UK, he went to the UK through masters and he's doing fine at least. This particular friend of mine does not know what web designing entails that all of them just know I'm a web designer, they can't differentiate between me and programmers that design website from scratch (Bootstrap, html, javascript, CSs and all programming language) now he told me his uncle is into IT and he told his uncle about me being a web designer, showed him my website and my past project and he asked me to send my CV and I'm sure he must have been thinking that I am a full stack web developer. Now the problem is that I don't know what to do about sending my CV because I feel I can't just put wordpress web designer to my cv, that would limit my chances of getting anything. Please I need advice from elders here, should I go ahead and send the CV like that? Or are there any IT skills I can learn to compliment my wordpress web design skill in a short time so as to make it look more sophisticated than just putting wordpress designer because I can't possibly start programming now because of this.. I am expected to send this CV by next weekend. |
