@VIVIANGIST Dutch football club, Fortuna Sittard who narrowly missed emerging winners in their first season, raked in two awards on Wednesday as 17-year old team captain Perr Schuurs clinched the Bronze Bull as the Best Talent while Nigerian-born team coach Sunday Oliseh won the Bronze Bull award of Best Coach. In his reaction, Sunday Oliseh who was voted the best trainer of the first season said; “I am very honored to win this prize because this is the result of hard work and a lot of help from my players, fans, assistants, our chairman Isitan Gün and above all God.” “There are so many great talents in the Jupiler League at the moment that I did not really expect to win the Bronze Bull. I was really surprised. Of course, it’s a good idea to win an individual prize, but the next prize I really want to get along with the team”, says 17-year old Schuurs who was named team captain by Oliseh. Meanwhile, Turkish businessman and Fortuna Sittard Club Chairman Isita Gün is very pleased with the awards. “The whole club is very proud of Perr and Sunday. We may have missed the title in the first season, these Bronze Bulls indicate that we are on the right track. Everyone in the club has given a strong energy boost for the club to stay on the road and even take a step further. This is really great!”, he was quoted as saying. Born in Nigeria, Oliseh who once graced the Bundesliga – and is now coaching Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch second division, is the only head coach from sub-Saharan Africa coaching in professional European football. @VIVIANGIST Nigeria has moved up 24 places to 145th in the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ report published today, and for the first time the country is recognized as one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world. This was made known in a statement issued by the Vice President's office on Tuesday in Abuja. The World Bank Doing Business project provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies worldwide. Reacting to the development, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, said “I welcome Nigeria’s improved performance. We are one of the top ten reforming economies in the world in 2017. After a decade-long decline in Nigeria’s rankings, last year the Government recorded a modest increase. This year, Mr President set us an ambitious target of moving up twenty places in the rankings – I am delighted that we have exceeded his goal. “Improving the business environment is at the heart of the Buhari Administration’s reform agenda. We are reinforcing our economic turnaround by a vigorous and active implementation of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) so businesses operating in Nigeria can thrive and be competitive globally. “For the first time, coordinated efforts across various levels of governments have been undertaken to make it easier to do business in Nigeria. I commend all stakeholders who worked with us to achieve this significant result, particularly the National Assembly, Lagos and Kano State Governments, and the private sector.” The World Bank highlighted five reforms making it easier to do business in Kano and Lagos, the two cities covered by the report in Nigeria over the course of last year: 1. Starting a Business, 2. Dealing with Construction Permits 3. Registering Property 4. Getting Credit, and 5. Paying Taxes. In the area of company registration, the Corporate Affairs Commission has moved to offer online registration and introduced new features such as electronic stamping of registration documents. Thus, entrepreneurs have been able to register their businesses much faster, within 24-48 hours, thereby saving cost and time Getting construction permits and registering property in both Lagos and Kano States have become more transparent and easier for businesses with the online publication of all relevant regulations, fee schedules and pre-application requirements online. Getting access to credit is now easier and Nigeria is placed 6th in the world on this indicator. The Government recorded a significant success by collaborating with the National Assembly to pass two new Acts, the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act 2017 and the Credit Reporting Act 2017, thereby strengthening the legal framework for access to credit for SMEs across the country – an important requirement for the success of SMEs. Finally, it has become easier to pay taxes in Nigeria because taxpayers can file tax returns at the nearest Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office, and electronic payment and filing are gradually gaining acceptance. @VIVIANGIST A Muslim, Prof. Rasheed Jimoh-Ijaodola, has bagged a doctorate degree in Christian studies at the University of Ilorin. Jimoh-Ijaodola is Professor of Law and Dean, Oba Erediauwa College of Law of Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State. A statement signed by Head, Public & External Relations Unit, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Obajide Ilugbo, made this known, in Benin-City, on Tuesday. Ilugbo said that Jimoh-Ijaodola’s thesis examined biblical prophesies and other prophesies, including prophesies of the late Sage and Prophet, Nostradamus. He further said that the Don’s research focused on the end time and the role of humans in the fulfilment of those prophesies. Jimoh-Ijaodola, according to him, is a faithful and practicing Muslim, who bagged his first Ph.D. In Electoral Law from the University of Jos, while his second Ph.D. was in Property law from the University of Ibadan. In the third Ph.D Thesis, he posited “the end is now and that humans should be careful so that the end will not come upon us as the biblical thief that came unexpectedly. “He pleaded that the world should embrace peace and live in harmony for the sake of the earth and humanity. “Nations should be careful of war and proliferation of weapon of mass destruction”, Ilugbo said. Ilugbo said that Jimoh-Ijaodola in his thesis stressed the need to take care of “our environment” very well so that it was not endangered. “The end time scenario is a picture of man eating man and that the problem will most likely start on the claim on ownership of Jerusalem.” He quoted Jimoh-Ijaodola as saying that the earth was throttling fast toward a certain end and that the survival of the earth depends on mans will to embrace God totally. As shared By Daily Post Nigeria The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has received another batch of 257 Nigerian Voluntary Returnees from Libya who were stranded in their failed attempt to cross over to Europe. The returnees arrived on an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with registration number 5A- LAT, which touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja at 9:15 p.m. yesterday. It was learnt that the Italian Government provided the flight that conveyed the returnees home, while the European Union (EU) is said to be providing the reintegration assistance. They were handed over to the Zonal Coordinator of NEMA Southwest, Alh Suleiman Yakubu by officials of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The breakdown of the returnees comprised 241 adult females, two adult children and five female infants, making a total of 248 females while there were only four male adults, four male children and 1male infant. The Director General of NEMA, Engr. Mustapha Maihajja represented by the zonal coordinator enjoined the returnees to embrace the change mantra of the Federal Government and have positive mind-set. Yakubu assured the returnees that no one will treat them as second class citizens, saying they are to enjoy their full rights unlike foreign countries where they would be regarded as second citizens without certain benefits especially those that are illegal migrants. Other agencies at the airport include NAPTIP, police, immigration services and FAAN. The Returnees, however, were given food on arrival and tokens for their transportation to their respective destinations.
