Regarding electoral malpractice, low intellect can't be blamed. We borrowed a culture that doesn't work. Yes, democracy is more civil than monarchy and dominion, but we lack the means to achieve it: INTEGRITY. Simple and short

We don't possess the basic honesty to carry out one election without misconduct and rigging. Democracy itself is even flawed because of a number of factors:

1) age is too rudimentary a criteria to make one eligible as polity

2) many who know an aspirant is not worth his salt should not made to pay for the delusion of other voters

3) net worth is a poor determinant for highlighting political candidates. Being rich should not be enough for one to standout as our only options for leaders

It's a long list in my document but these are the ones that come to mind quickest. At the very least, we were supposed to improve on the system we plagiarised. Instead, we not only copied it verbatim but bastardized it

So these are the issues that should be addressed before elections can be reliable. If the process is gotten right, NOBODY will contest or dispute the results. Because then, you know it's not an emotional decision or one that favours you on an personal level. It's not about what horse you're backing but, objectively, the best in the race

The reason there is still a smokescreen of bribery, violence, ballot snatching etc, is because there is a platform for doing so. Bvas came close to fixing it but nothing was transmitted. Results were announced in the middle of the night. Everybody was gloomy for a day or two and went about their businesses

I'm not a violent person and I acknowledge the catastrophic effects of war. Before I suggest physical harm, it's because it's the only way there is to upheaval the mess, overhaul and try something more foolproof

It's a hill I'm willing to die on. We can NEVER conduct a fair election as is, and announce that result. We are not honest enough, ESPECIALLY in our everyday lives. Has nothing to do with poverty or malnutrition. I will say it's more of orientation, standards. We grow up content with the bare minimum and that cutting corners makes one a sharp guy. The fault is in their approach. We evolved quite differently from the west. Our iq is lower and so is our ability to innovate. Similarly, ballots are too complex. Peaceful protests are a waste of time. We lack the ability to be accountable cuz naturally, our standards are very low. So it permeates across other spheres of our lives

We need to make conscious, artificial, effort to compensate for these weaknesses, rather than resign from the objective altogether
