The Nigerian Red Cross has appealed for blood donations for victims of the collapsed building on Lagos Island.

Mr Olakunle Lasisi, Secretary of NRC, Lagos made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos.

Speaking on the hashtags #DonateForItafaji and #savetheitafajichildren trending on social media, to solicit for blood donations from the public, he said the Red Cross would partake in the exercise.

Lasisi added that he spoke with the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service on Wednesday, and confirmed that the information was true.

“They said, yes, they are aware of it.

“It was launched by the MD of the General Hospital, so they can have enough blood in the bank to assist the casualties of the collapsed building.

“When an incident like this happens, blood donations is always required to meet the demand of those in need of blood transfusion.

“It is a good opportunity for the blood bank to replenish because there are people who want to assist.

“Some of our members who are due for blood donation will be available,” he said

According to report, the Police in Enugu State says that a local cannon shot had killed its operator in Ogbozinne community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman for Enugu State Police Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement on Thursday that the incident took place on March 11.

Amaraizu said that the community had since been thrown into a mourning mood when a cannon gun allegedly exploded and pierced through the back of the operator.

The Police spokesman said that the cannon operator was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty in a general hospital in the area.

“On the fateful day, Mrs Blessing Ogbodo from Ogbata village of Ogbozinne community had hired the deceased who was identified as Kenneth Ogbodo to fire a cannon gun for the celebration of her shrine.

“It was further gathered that in course of igniting the cannon for explosion, the first cannon allegedly exploded and pierced through his back.

“He was later confirmed dead by a doctor on duty at Agbani General Hospital, while his corpse was deposited at the mortuary of the hospital as well,’’ he said.

Amaraizu said that investigation had commenced into the unfortunate incident.

A 14-year-old girl has been rescued from her abusive father in Enugu state.

According to reports, the girl simply identified as Ifeoma claimed her father lubricated his fingers and inserted into her private part in a bid to check her virginity. This reportedly caused her to bleed.

The young girl ran away and confided in Behind Bars Initiative who quickly came to her rescue and reported the case to the Police. Report has it that the father refused to honour police invitation when called by the DPO.

The young girl has been handed over to her mother through her uncle (pictured in blue shirt).

A Lagos-based pastor, Moses Alu, has come hard on Abuja-based pastor, Joshua Iginla, who recently confessed that he cheated on his wife, Yemisi.

Recall last Saturday, that Pastor Iginla stood before his church members to announce that his marriage to Yemisi was over. He alleged that his wife committed adultery while they were still married and had a child for another man.

A claim that his wife has since denied. Iginla then confessed that he also got a South African lady named Stella pregnant and has a child with her.

Reacting to Iginla’s confession, Pastor Alu while preaching in his own church last Sunday March 10th, said Pastor Iginla was only deceiving his followers as he was not confessing but only came out to publicly humilate his wife because he refused to cover up his own sin. Alu said Iginla was arrogant in his confession.

”A Pastor came out in Abuja and said he is making a confession and at the end of the confession he told his followers that he is divorcing his wife. A Pastor. See the difference between him, Benny Hinn and Oyakhilome. Oyakhilome came on air and said the woman desires divorce but he doesn’t want it because the bible doesn’t permit it. Benny Hinn also said he agrees with his wife regarding her grieviance but he is praying and asking people to help him talk to his wife, that she should change her mind because the bible the bible will not allow him divorce his wife.

Listen Iginla, Go back and reconcile with your wife. and to start with Iginla, you were not confessing. That was no confession. There was no posture of a contrite spirit. There was no posture of a repentant heart. You were moving from left to right in the same way you preach sermons. You cannot put up same posture when you want to make a confession of a sin you have committed. You can bewitch your members but you cannot bewitch those of us who know the Christian faith.

I don’t have a problem with you committing sin. I am looking at what you call confession. You were arrogant in your presentation of your confession. You claim you are out to make confession but you said the reason you came out to confess is because when your wife did her own you covered her but now you did your own and she found out and she is not ready to cover you. The Bible says he that covereth sin shall not prosper.

I read comments of people saying he is a humble man of God. Let me tell you, when you commit sin, it is who you have sinned against that you go to confess. You went and committed adultery, does the church need to know that? You broke your marriage vows with your wife. You are to go before your wife.

Listen Iginla, instead of you to confess the sin you committed against your wife, you went ahead to open her own up. You were saying she too she did it. Is it your business to say that? Is that confession? You were coming out publicly to rubbish your wife. Because your wife is going about complaining what has happened, you in your arrogancy you are telling your wife, ‘I will finish you. You are talking about my own, I wil go on air and talk about your own’.

And he was ending his speech by shouting Holy Ghost Fire. Fire on your wife?

Iginla, go back and settle with your wife. You need councelling.

A young graduate of the Auchi Federal Polytechnic in Edo state, lost his life after he was involved in a fatal accident which left others injured.

According to local reports, the deceased identified as Ehis, was crushed to death after a lorry fell on his Lexus car on Saturday, January 26th at Ewu Hills, Benin-Auchi express road in Edo.

It was gathered that some other occupants in the vehicle including friends of the deceased, were rescued alive.

It was learnt that Ehis was a graduate of Building technology, who passed out from the institution last year 2018 and was awaiting his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) this year before the unfortunate incident which claimed his life.

THE legislative backing over the battle for the actualisation of N30,000 new minimum wage by Organised Labour, has been given a major boost after members of the House of Representatives, at their Tuesday sitting set the new National Minimum Wage as N30,000.

Labour will now shift its battle and lobby to the Senate for it to concur with the House of Representatives.

Once the Senate passes the N30,000 minimum wage Act into law, both chambers will harmonise if there are differences before returning the act to the president for assent.

Recall that members of the House reached the decision on the N30,000 a day after conducting a public hearing on the bill for a new national minimum wage.
