A research team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has invented a concept called digital fibre. A Fibre material with digital capabilities that can sense, store, analyse, and infer activities after it’s sewn into a shirt. Astronomers have detected a new chemical signature called Hydroxyl Molecule Signature in the atmosphere of an extrasolar planet (a planet that orbits a star other than our Sun). The hydroxyl radical (OH) was found on the dayside of the exoplanet WASP-33b -- a so-called 'ultra-hot Jupiter', a gas-giant planet orbiting its host star much closer than Mercury orbits the Sun and therefore reaching atmospheric temperatures of more than 2,500° C.

A new study simulated 25,000 supposed sequence of events of black holes and neutron stars colliding. The research aimed to detect how many times black hole-neutron star collision would occur using an instruments situated on Earth in the mid- to late-2020s .

According to their observation, researchers found that, by 2030, instruments on Earth could sense ripples in space-time caused by up to 3,000 such collisions, and that for around 100 of these events, telescopes would also see accompanying explosions of light.

Usually, it takes an expensive equipment and expertise to create an accurate 3D reconstruction of someone's face that's realistic and doesn't look creepy. Now, Carnegie Mellon University researchers have pulled off the feat using video recorded on an ordinary smartphone.

Using a smartphone to shoot a continuous video of the front and sides of the face produces a packed stream of data. A two-step process developed by CMU's Robotics Institute uses that data, with some help from deep learning algorithms, to build a digital reconstruction of the face. The team's experiments show that their method can achieve sub-millimeter accuracy, outperforming other camera-based processes.

Late September 2019, there were news that Xiaomi is working on a phone capable of recording 8K video at 30fps. Recently with the first MIUI 11 beta out, the folks over at XDA Devlopers have discovered a refresh rate toggle in the display settings which comes with a 120 Hz option.
