I agree that North Central has suffered greatly and is often underreported. My point isn't about where the most people are dying. It's about how insecurity seems to gain more national attention when it affects the region associated with the president of the day.

This is an observation I have made over the years.

When Obasanjo was president, the activities of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC) made insecurity in the South West a major national discussion.

Yar'Adua's tenure was relatively short due to his health challenges, so there wasn't enough time to observe a similar pattern.

During Jonathan's presidency, militancy, kidnappings, and other security concerns in the South South and parts of the South East gained widespread attention.

Under Buhari, insurgency, banditry, and other security challenges in the North dominated national headlines.

Now under Tinubu, insecurity in the South West is once again receiving significant public attention.

This raises an interesting question:

Why does insecurity often appear to become more visible, widely reported, or nationally discussed in the region where the sitting president comes from?

Is it because the media focuses more on that region, because political opponents amplify such incidents, or because insecurity has always existed everywhere but becomes more noticeable when it affects the president's home region?
