Chelsea have confirmed they have parted ways with manager Enzo Maresca ahead of Sunday's game against Manchester City. Maresca's 18-month spell at Stamford Bridge comes to an end after a run of one win in seven Premier League games that left his side fifth in the table. Chelsea were booed off at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth with Maresca facing chants of "you don't know what you're doing" from fans when opting to substitute Cole Palmer. Chelsea's official wording son Thursday stopped short of saying that Maresca had been sacked, rather that "Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track." His exit was confirmed in a 99-word statement following talks about his future. |

Around 42 countries operate military submarines, representing a significant portion of global naval power. These underwater vessels are considered a critical component of naval strategy, with nations such as the United States, Russia, China, and North Korea, Iran, Japan, France, UK and South Korea operating some of the largest submarine fleets. Only three countries have submarines in Africa , Algeria, Egypt, and South Africa. There are five main types of submarines: Research, Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicles (DSRV), Fast-Attack, Guided Missile Carriers, and Nuclear-Missile Carriers (Boomers), each serving distinct military or civilian functions. These classifications are based on their primary mission and weaponry, with distinctions like nuclear-powered or diesel-electric, and further variations within those categories. Additionally, discussions about nuclear submarines have garnered significant attention online, fueling curiosity and debate. Nuclear submarines are powered by nuclear reactors and stay underwater for a longer period. The world’s most advanced navies rely on nuclear-powered submarines for stealth, endurance, and strategic deterrence. These nuclear submarines carry ballistic and cruise missiles. Only a handful of nations possess nuclear submarines, which highlight the nation’s technological advancement and significant defence investment. Here’s a list of countries with the maximum number of nuclear submarines, according to the Statista report. List Of Countries With The Largest Number Of Nuclear Submarines In 2025: United States The United States has the largest number of nuclear submarines in the world. The United States Navy have about 66 nuclear-powered submarines, both ballistic missile submarines (SSBNS) and attack submarines (SSNS). These nuclear submarines showcase global naval supremacy. Russia Russia has the second-largest nuclear submarines in the world, with 31 nuclear-powered submarines. Russian submarines have a mix of SSBNs and SSNs to secure their sea borders. China China is the third-largest number of nuclear submarines in the world. The nation has currently around 12 nuclear-powered submarines, with the main focus on establishing its presence in the Indo-Pacific nuclear deterrent. United Kingdom The UK has four Vanguard-class SSBNs, which are the backbone of its nuclear arsenal, and a number of Astute-class SSNs. The Royal Navy's nuclear submarine fleet is small but technologically sophisticated and critical to the defense of the nation. France France has a fleet of four Triomphant-class SSBNs and a number of Rubis/ Suffren-class SSNs. Similar to the UK submarine arsenal, France's nuclear subs offer a secure second-strike capabiliy. India India is the only South Asian nation to have nuclear-powered submarines. India currently has two nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines operational (Arihant-class) as of 2025 and is heavily investing in building its fleet. The nation is also planning to bring upcoming additions like SSBNs and SSNs in the near future. Note: Many intelligence and defense reports suggest that some countries possess more submarines than publicly acknowledged, as these vessels are designed for stealth and are often kept secret to maintain strategic advantage. We've just seen a statement from Hamas, who say their negotiating team in Doha have survived Israel's strike on the Qatari capital. In a statement, it says: "We confirm the enemy's failure to assassinate our brothers in the negotiating delegation." It adds the strike "confirms beyond doubt that Netanyahu and his government do not want to reach any agreement" for peace. The statement adds that six others were killed in the strike. "We hold the US administration jointly responsible with the occupation for this crime, due to its ongoing support for the aggression and crimes of the occupation against our people," the statement adds. |

Atiku Finally Dumps PDP Atiku, who was the PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 and 2023 elections, communicated his decision in a letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Jada Ward 1 in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The letter, dated July 14 but sighted by Daily Trust on Thursday, was confirmed as authentic by one of the former vice president’s media aides. In the letter, Atiku said his decision was based on his belief that the PDP had strayed from “the foundational principles we stood for.” I wish the party and its leadership all the best in the future. Thank you once again for the opportunities and support.” Daily Trust reports that Atiku has been championing a coalition of opposition leaders who recently adopted the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. |

Good evening nairalanders, I need your advice, I had my first degree (BSc) in a private university in Benin Republic (Recognise by both Benin Republic and Nigeria ministries of Education) and did my youth service in Abia state with the Ministry of Local government and chieftaincy affairs. I also got my Second degree (MSc) in one of the most recognise private university in Nigeria. Recently, I got admission to a federal university and a private university where i work for my Third degree (PhD). Correctly, this has caused a major dilemma, considering some factors like time frame, recognition of certificate, future job opportunities and other factors. Please, which of the two options do you think I should pick ? |

Sweden has officially declared sex as a sport and finalised arrangements to launch its maiden sex tournament on Thursday, June 8. The contestants in the sex tournament will have daily sexual encounters that can last up to six hours. According to Swedish local media, a panel of judges will select the winners of the sex competition, and the audience will also share opinions and analyses on the choices. The European Sex Championship slated for June 8 is scheduled to last for six weeks, as participants will engage in sexual activity daily for 45 to one hour depending on the length of their bouts. The report disclosed that the competition has three levels, and in order to advance to the next level, the contestant must obtain a certain minimum number of points at each one. The sex contenders have the opportunity to earn between 5 and 10 points in each discipline, which are decided by a mix of public votes and a panel of five judges. According to the report, the audience will watch the sex competitions and will take note of various features of the sexual activity. The couple's chemistry, their understanding of sex, their level of endurance, and other vital sexual features will all be considered when deciding who emerges winner. The head of the Swedish Federation of Sex, Dragan Bratych, said he hoped that one day sex would be regarded as a sport globally. He underlined the value of education and the possibility that engaging in sexual activity can improve one's physical and mental health. "Like any sport, getting the results you want in sex requires training," he stated. As a result, competition will inevitably start to develop in this area as well. He emphasised the unique aspects of this sport, where the object is to make the opponent extremely happy. He added the ability of the competitor to satisfy their partner determines their success in this game, in contrast to traditional sports where losing frequently leads to disappointment. |
