This is happening every year in Nigeria and most students don't understand why until it is too late.
Let me explain.


A student scored 300 in JAMB. Another scored 240. Everyone assumed the 300 student was guaranteed admission.


But here is what happened.
The 300 student relaxed. He felt he had arrived. Stopped reading. Stopped preparing.
The 240 student kept going. Kept studying. Kept preparing for Post UTME.


When the results came out the 240 student beat the 300 student and got the admission.

How? Because of how the aggregate score is calculated. Your JAMB score is divided by 8. Your Post UTME score is divided by 2. The difference between 300 and 240 after division by 8 is only about 7 marks. But Post UTME can close that gap completely.


This is just one of the things destroying Nigerian students admission chances without them even knowing.


There is also the issue of:
— Students who got admission on JAMB CAPS but never saw it because they stopped checking
— Students whose admission expired because they didn't accept it in time
— Students who changed institution without knowing it affected their O level subject combination
— Students who uploaded the wrong passport background on their Post UTME form and got disqualified silently
— Students who didn't know their school had recommended them for a different course under the transferred students column on CAPS.


Every single one of these mistakes has cost Nigerian students a full extra year of waiting.

If nobody can clearly explain how withdrawals work, I become careful immediately.
